Okay, maybe I am invested.
Only reason I would care the Astros won would be seeing Dusty Baker get his ring

but year .. mostly its just Phillies and Astros fans ..

I particularly enjoy watching the Asros lose. That's about it.

Philly doesn't win another game, and does not score more than 3 runs total in the final two games.

Aaron Judge reups with NYY, 9 years, $360M, $40M/year.
Verlander to NYM at $43.3M/year. @nybf may have to endure some really boring games with that pitching staff not giving up a bunch of runs...

One baseball note:

The Steve Cohen tax means that, with no further moves, he "would be on the hook for $67.2 million in taxes alone — more than the entire payrolls of the A’s, Orioles and Pirates."

This is the problem with baseball. Oakland, Baltimore, Pittsburgh would rather make a couple dollars than spend and try to have a competitive team.

An update after the Senga signing:

Right now the Mets (Steve Cohen) are set to pay about $78 million on luxury tax PENALTIES for 2023. That's more than the TEAM PAYROLL for following teams in 2023:

Royals
Rays
Reds
Pirates
Orioles
A's

From December 1:

According to Eric Fisher, the U.S. Editor for SportBusiness Group, Major League Baseball sold its remaining 15-percent stake in BAMTech, a streaming technology service group, to Disney for $900 million.

As a result of this deal, Fisher states that each team should be receiving another $30 million from the sale.

Every owner just got a $30 mil check. And they still keep their payrolls at these pathetic levels.

I feel bad for fans of teams whose owners don't love them.

Must be nice.
To this end, one of baseball’s best shortstops in Correa now won’t even be a shortstop, as Correa will now move to third base in deference to Lindor. Correa won a Platinum Glove, Gold Glove, and Fielding Bible Award for his work at shortstop just in 2021, and his professional experience at third base consists of one game with the Astros’ Double-A affiliate in 2015. That said, Lindor is an excellent fielder in his own right, and the Outs Above Average and UZR/150 public metrics prefer his glovework at shortstop to Correa’s over the course of their careers. There isn’t much doubt that Correa should be able to translate well to the hot corner, thus improving the Mets’ defense as well as the impact he’ll bring to the lineup

That’s a pretty severe case of buyers remorse.

He is embarrassing those teams. what a fucking disgrace they are.

As a fan of a mid market team, I used to be pretty much “who cares about how much they spend?”, but this…this is crazy.
