I think you talked about the offseason ebbs and flows of "draft talk". Where here's a pretty big one.MJW wrote: ↑Thu Apr 06, 2023 6:33 pmI don't get it with him. At all. IMHO he's a poor man's Anthony Richardson, and I don't like Richardson for the same reasons. And Hooker is almost 5 years older and coming off an ACL.

Prior to his knee injury, Hooker was widely seen as a first round talent. This doesn't surprise me too much.Bootz wrote: ↑Fri Apr 07, 2023 7:29 pmI think you talked about the offseason ebbs and flows of "draft talk". Where here's a pretty big one.MJW wrote: ↑Thu Apr 06, 2023 6:33 pm

Re: ***Official 2023 NFL Draft Thread***
Maybe he's seen as less of a project than Levis or Richardson? Idk but man, Hooker has an extremely low ceiling IMO. He kinda is who he's gonna be at this point. I at least see the boom or bust aspects with Levis & Richardson. Hooker though is closer to bust than he is boom.

Re: ***Official 2023 NFL Draft Thread***
Honestly, QB is the biggest scam of all the positions. So much of what leads to NFL success is not in a soundbite or even on the tape. The dream classes are trash, the mid guys are studs, the fallers like Lamar and Rodgers are the MVPs.
I still believe fit is the most important thing, it can make a good QB great and a great one meh.
I also like to believe we have some of the best QB eyes in the league. If this FO thinks it's a fit, I'm all for it. You can never hedge too much towards the most important position.

I’m hoping it’s in case he falls to the second round, and I agree. Just a bad idea to draft one, especially early, when you consider all our needs AND next year’s class.MJW wrote: ↑Thu Apr 06, 2023 6:33 pmI don't get it with him. At all. If they can fix Baker I’ll be impressed. Maybe Canales can?Doctor wrote: ↑Fri Apr 07, 2023 11:23 pm Honestly, QB is the biggest scam of all the positions. Arians couldn’t fix Jameis and they didn’t develop Trask at all apparently so I’ll have to disagree on this front office having keen QB eyes.
This regime drafting a QB early feels like trying to buy another year of job security. Seems ironic when the other QB they wasted a 2nd on rots.

Idgaf.
This isn't FF, "draft value" is a stupid metric in real life. Its the offspring of hindsight.
If we could spend our first three picks on 3 QBs but we would 100% emerge with a true franchise guy, draft groupies heads would explode, but I'd do it in a heartbeat. But it doesn't work that way because more often then not irl a draftpick is a miss, not a hit. Roster construction is the clever art of hedging your bets.

Look like Bucs will trade up to draft Hooker
Stay tuned!

I do not understand this, unless it's just chatter. I do not see any elite elements to his game*, along with a bunch of stuff that needs to be corrected/improved. Just for the sake of the point:Bootz wrote: ↑Fri Apr 07, 2023 7:29 pmI think you talked about the offseason ebbs and flows of "draft talk". - Bryce Young has elite improvisational skills and pocket awareness.
- CJ Stroud has elite mechanics and ball placement.
- Anthony Richardson is athletically from Krypton.
- Will Levis has one of the strongest arms I've ever seen.
Hooker? He runs well, but even then, he doesn't run smart.
* - His running WOULD be an elite element, but like I said, when you're "one read and scramble," your running can be as much a liability as a strength.
BTW, if we draft Hooker at #19, I'm taking a year off Bucs football.

Full Disclosure: My track record evaluating quarterbacks is awful, going all the way back to, "Ryan Leaf's ceiling makes him the better pick."

Re: ***Official 2023 NFL Draft Thread***
One of my favorite storylines this draft will be where Calijah Kancey goes.
He's not Aaron Donald, but he's not nearly as far off from Aaron Donald as the "He's not Aaron Donald" people tend to say he is. I've watched a ton of him during the process and he might be the most unblockable 3T since Donald. He has the same kind of quickness, the same kind of speed-to-power or vice versa, and the same edge. The measurables are incredibly similar, and the Pitt thing, while coincidentally, is what it is.
I think people talking second round are in for a surprise. I would not be the least bit surprised if the Bears traded back to target him at #9. I would say the floor is Seattle at #20.

If we were still running a 4-3, I'd be screaming from the rooftops for the guy FWIW.

Plenty of shots to make this roster - to be had.
I forgot this guy.
Andrei Iosivas
WR Princeton
Cheb, I guess Wayne Ruby Jr gets a fifth year at Mount Union.

Still like this QB
Lindsey Scott Jr.
QB Incarnate Word
He would show our defense just how much trouble a mover can be.

Re: ***Official 2023 NFL Draft Thread***
I like the idea of Andrei Iosivas more than like him when I actually see him play. For all those supposed elite testing numbers, which when measured were good but not great, the guy never looked elite in college, and he was playing against subpar competition, too. And any receiver we draft will be WR4 at best, and drafting a position that will have such minimal snaps for the next few years doesn't make a lot of sense to me.
Re: ***Official 2023 NFL Draft Thread***
Gotta be somebody. Do you actually think Russell, Mike, and Chris will play 51 games.
Re: ***Official 2023 NFL Draft Thread***
Gage is a couple concussions away from the media suggesting he should retire while he still has his health.

Looks like we're using one of our 30 visits on Levis:

30 teams requesting a visit with Levis? Who are the 2 outliers I wonder?

Yeah that's a yikes 3 cone. And his 40 wasn't anything special either. Shame.
Re: ***Official 2023 NFL Draft Thread***
Mauch has STRONG Ali Marpet energy. I would not be the least bit surprised if we jump on him at #50, or even deal up.

As soon as I read his story, I had him pegged as Licht's new Oline wet dream.

Remember Alshon Jeffrey? Yea. I think Johnson will be fine as a pro. But he's not a superstar in the making.
