Welcome, Yaya (who?)Diaby plays with strong hands and clear eyes at the point of attack. He can strike and separate as a two-gapping five-technique or pursue and tackle as a 4-3 base end. He’s a power rusher lacking an instinctive approach to beat better NFL tackles, but his lateral quickness and short-area burst make Diaby perfect for a twisting/gaming front. His frame and skill set could attract attention as an odd- or even-front end with his ceiling being defined by how much he’s able to improve his creativity as a rusher.

DE: Hall, Diaby, O'Connor
DT: Vea, Kancey, G. Gaines, D. Senat
One of Hall/Diaby need to be an actual NFL level player ASAP.

Re: Welcome Yaya Diaby
So should be versatile enough to play all three edge positions for the defense? Sounds good.
Re: Welcome Yaya Diaby
He reads more like an edge rusher than a down linemen, no?

Very athletic, explosive, and 34" arms. Might become a steal for us.

Re: Welcome Yaya Diaby
he might help the Bucs to unload White in the future. They are focused on pass rush in this draft, and may be looking to replace the speed of DW.
I can only hope

He seems like more of an edge rusher than an ILB like White.njdungeoneer wrote: ↑Fri Apr 28, 2023 10:58 pm he might help the Bucs to unload White in the future. They are focused on pass rush in this draft, and may be looking to replace the speed of DW.

Just threw this into the calculator…
Re: Welcome Yaya Diaby
(From NFL.com)
Strengths
-Gets out of stance and up the field in a hurry.
-Lateral burst works well for him in gaming rush fronts.
-Effective setting blockers into picks on twist loops.
-Uses punch-and-pull technique to yank blockers off-balance.
-Separates at point of attack with sharp punch into full extension.
-Finds the football through contact and movement.
-Short-area acceleration to chase down his targets.
Weaknesses
-Rush approach needs more skill added to the power.
-Lacks hand creativity to soften the edge at the top of the rush.
-Improvement needed for rush counters to prevent stalling out.
-Doesn’t keep pads square when sliding with blocks down the line.
-Room to get better with his double team take-ons.
-Will be 24 years old prior to rookie season.

Re: Welcome Yaya Diaby
So I’m watching the Louisville tape, and an edge is jumping off the screen…
#22, Yasir Abdullah
Apparently he’s also a prospect. Wasn’t aware. Still on the board after day 2. 6’1, 237. Pretty different than his teammate Yaya. smaller, much shiftier. Serious speed to power.
Looks better to me. But what do I know…

Re: Welcome Yaya Diaby
Yaya will be 24 in a month. He is what he is. He's the same age as Micah Parsons and JTS. So we'll know what he is sooner rather than later.

Re: Welcome Yaya Diaby
This was the kind of edge I was hoping we’d take. Seems to have size, length, power, and explosiveness- and seems like a good kid too. Could be a steal.
Listening to Licht seems clear they want edges with some mass and power and that’s probably why they passed on Nolan Smith.

Re: Welcome Yaya Diaby
Great pickup. I had this guy going early to mid second round. This makes up for Licht passing on Anton Harrison and instead drafting that trailer park trash in the second round for the offensive line.
