Didn't you watch the Browns playoff game? It will tell you what you need to know.

I’m not gonna sit here and say who deserves how much blame, but Howell was not seen as a starting QB entering the draft and in 18 starts has just backed up that notion. I’m not saying Bienemy is a genius, but I think it’s unfair he gets no credit when Mahomes does well but it’s his fault he couldn’t make offense happen with a 5th round pick.CannonFire wrote: ↑Thu Jan 25, 2024 3:41 pmYou're sure that it was Howell's fault?Miller4Prez64 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 25, 2024 3:34 pm
Not saying we should hire him, but no coach was getting anything done with Sam Howell at QB.

Re: Didn’t expect we’d have to do this but… OC options?
Howell wasn't great, but was put behind one of the worst pass protecting lines in the league and Bienemy did him no favors with his gameplan/play calling. No plays to help against pass rush, not much motion or rolling the QB out (especially when Howell is pretty mobile), and honestly worst play sequencing than Canales at times. Either way, he was the OC of one of the worst offenses in the league and couldn't figure out a way to get McLaurin and Dotson more involved other than sending them on go routes to clear the short area for Samuel.Miller4Prez64 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 25, 2024 3:34 pm

Training camp reports about Bienemy's behavior/attitude were not helpful for him either. But hard to say how much of it was him being an ass or Commanders players just not being used to a coaching style where the coach tries to push you to be better. Combine that with the stories over the years of Bienemy being a terrible interview when he'd apply for HC jobs and I get the feeling where there is smoke there is fire.

LOL, that's pretty funny. Cleveland's QB's this year were Deshaun Watson (6 games), Dorian Thompson-Robinson (3), P.J. Walker (2), Joe Flacco (5), & Jeff Driskel (1)... without Nick Chubb for virtually the whole season, and ranked 10th in the NFL in scoring, but you want to point to 1 game in the playoffs where they were doing just fine in the first half... then Flacco threw 2 pick-6's, and that warrants everything to be Van Pelt's fault? Seriously?

I don't care how they looked coming into the NFL, I only care how players look IN the NFL. Let's compare these 2 2nd year players. Do you know who they are?Miller4Prez64 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 25, 2024 3:49 pmI’m not gonna sit here and say who deserves how much blame, but Howell was not seen as a starting QB entering the draft and in 18 starts has just backed up that notion. Player A: 59.4% pct / 3827 yards / 22 TD / 21 Int / 78.8 passer rating
Player B: 63.4% pct / 3946 yards / 21 TD / 21 Int / 78.9 passer rating

Thad Lewis is interesting. Obviously he worked closely with Canales and Baker last year, and also got his feet wet under Arians with Brady in the building.
As a player, he bounced around, so A LOT of concepts for him to draw from. He’s had varying degrees of exposure to:
Canales
Arians/Leftwich/Brady
Chip Kelly (at UCLA, SF, and Philly)
Bill O’Brien
Doug Marrone/Hackett
Shurmur (again)/Childress

Zac Robinson is supposed to be the next McVay disciple. Bet the Bucs and Falcons are fighting over him as we speak. Knows both Baker and new Falcons coach Raheem Morris.

I'm not sure if I am an up and coming OC type that I want to tie myself to the cement shoes that is Todd Bowels.

I’ve seen Thad Lewis mentioned, but I have no idea what his offensive system is or his background.

Wait so you think Bowels is going to have a better season next season as a HC? Having to change offenses again, probably having to start a rookie QB or Trask? C'mon....

I just think it's a dubious thing to post considering the actual reason for this entire conversation is the OC Bowles hired has been promoted to an HC job after one season.

Will Canales convince Baker Mayfield to sign with the Panthers as a FA?

Nope. Baker won’t want to back up Bryce Young. He didn’t want to be a back up last season, he certainly won’t after this season. Rightfully so.GreatTimes wrote: ↑Thu Jan 25, 2024 8:22 pm Will Canales convince Baker Mayfield to sign with the Panthers as a FA?

Bryce Young may go down as one of the worse draft picks in NFL history, especially when you look at what Carolina gave up to move up in the draft. Firing the GM and HC by the owner may very well have come down to the drafting of Young.Deja Entendu wrote: ↑Thu Jan 25, 2024 8:47 pmNope. Baker won’t want to back up Bryce Young. Yep. Reports were that Tepper overruled his own front office to choose Young over Stroud.Al Bundy wrote: ↑Fri Jan 26, 2024 12:19 amThe idiot Tepper wanted Young.GreatTimes wrote: ↑Thu Jan 25, 2024 9:57 pm

Some of you are in such a hurry to get the #1 pick in the draft.

We also want Bowles gone. And Licht gone. And the Glazer family to sell the team to an owner that actually gives a damn about winning.Grahamburn wrote: ↑Fri Jan 26, 2024 8:46 amSome of you are in such a hurry to get the #1 pick in the draft.
