That I agree with you, Mayfield isn't worth 30 million AAV. I rather roll with McCarthy, Evans, etc., than to lose Evans.

We must keep Evans on our team at all costs. Make sure it gets done, Licht

Re: The OFFICIAL 2024 Bucs off-season thread
You did.
Credit card is literally code for VOIDED YEARS.
We're not over the worst because we keep adding to it. Next offseason is quite literally worse than this one. Where we have a combined dead cap of $21.7mil this year from 6 players on voided years, Chris Godwin alone is $18mil+. Shaq is another $12mil. There are others as well. And it gets worse as you start extending & pushing money into next year.Doctor wrote: ↑Mon Feb 19, 2024 4:23 pm Even then, I was referring to the full cap burden, both active and voided, that was put on the card. Godwin, Gage, Jensen, Brady, AB, Gronk, etc etc etc. We are over the worst but aren't out of its shadow just yet. The important thing is we didn't let it drag this team down even at the darkest point. More important still, what's left over is very very manageable.

Re: The OFFICIAL 2024 Bucs off-season thread
We entered today with $132k in dead cap. Entering tomorrow we will have nearly $22 million in dead cap, in part because we could not get deals done. Or conversely we chose not to.
Now we are down to $32 million in cap space. Moreover, there's a strong chance that we chose to take this hit on the chin instead of trying to dodge it, which makes me wonder if we are further trying to accelerate our cap reset by choosing not to restructure our expensive players. Which means that the idea of bringing back our core guys is further away today than it was yesterday.
Color me pessimistic.

There are an awful lot of edge rushers this offseason. Why can't we get one or two after the initial run of signings?Cheb wrote: ↑Sat Feb 17, 2024 8:22 pmMy first step towards fixing our pass rush is to add another young guy in the draft, even if he's strictly a rotational player who plays exclusively in passrushing situations. We likely don't have the cheese to get a juicy free agent, as we will likely have to spend our dollars on keeping our own established guys here.

Bucs will probably trade Evans for Aiyuk, or something like that...

Re: The OFFICIAL 2024 Bucs off-season thread
At this point, absolutely. Baker/Evans were always a package deal in my mind (from Bakers perspective) and honestly Baker without Evans makes no sense.
That said, a rookie QB without a guy like Mike Evans makes even less sense.

Baker is now a free agent. The Bucs could resign him, but Baker may think he is going to get a large contract offer with another team.
Re: The OFFICIAL 2024 Bucs off-season thread
This is where I’m at. If Evans is gone, the allure of Baker coming back on a big money deal sours on me. If we can get both back, great. If not, sign AWJr and continue to build the team up around whoever will be QB.

Would be a shame if we had to move on again, but Fields would definitely be a fun player to have.

It’s such an interesting off-season. Our free agents (Baker/Mike) are offset by a seemingly deep draft class at those positions.real bucs fan wrote: ↑Tue Feb 20, 2024 6:53 pm Would be a shame if we had to move on again, but Fields would definitely be a fun player to have.
Then there are so many other players available outside of “our guys” too.
Licht and his team. It’s their job to take the emotion out of it and build the best team and future with the resources you have available.
Re: The OFFICIAL 2024 Bucs off-season thread
It's also their job not to assume every tackle will work at any IOL position sometimes making them switch sidesGrahamburn wrote: ↑Tue Feb 20, 2024 7:21 pmIt’s such an interesting off-season. Re: The OFFICIAL 2024 Bucs off-season thread
People do know Licht didn't invent that move right?
Half the OTs that come out every year have some form of "may have to be move inside at the next level" on their report.

Re: The OFFICIAL 2024 Bucs off-season thread
Just seems to be his MO, I can’t recall that he’s drafted a true interior OL since he’s been here. Marpet, Cappa, Hainsey, Godeke all OTs in college. Most have worked out, so can’t blame that he has a type.

Re: The OFFICIAL 2024 Bucs off-season thread
Most of those college OT's who have been moved to IOL have worked out as pass blockers. But the run game is a whole different story. Those former OT's are not quick or agile enough to be pulling guards on trap blocking plays and end sweeps.
Re: The OFFICIAL 2024 Bucs off-season thread
I don't know if most have worked. Hainsey is below average as a center. Goedeke was a disaster as LG even for a rookie. Cappa was solid, but a much better pass blocker and a mediocre at best run blocker. Marpet is truly the only one that worked. I wonder if Licht's strategy is why we have sucked at running the ball his whole tenure.
I hope we draft a true center and Guard with mauling tendencies. Not a low quality OT that ends up being a project as an interior lineman.
Re: The OFFICIAL 2024 Bucs off-season thread
@acmillis How many Buccaneers games did you attend last season? I went to all of them but Jaguars and Saints because of family obligations. Christmas Eveand New Year Eve? Come on lol
Re: The OFFICIAL 2024 Bucs off-season thread
Two total last year.
Both ATL games. My brother lives in ATL.

Seems to be a shortage of offensive linemen who have taken LG snaps.Jonny wrote: ↑Wed Feb 21, 2024 9:50 amI don't know if most have worked. Hainsey is below average as a center. So, it's safe to say you're in the season ticket market almost solely as an investment via the resell market?

Re: The OFFICIAL 2024 Bucs off-season thread
I didn't have season tickets last season. First time in almost two decades I gave them up. I didn't believe in this team with Baker last season (proven wrong last season), and, yes, I figured that I'd lose money if I ended up wanting to sell tickets to games I did not want to attend.
I never sold tickets to games on a regular basis until the Brady years. Brady made me a crap ton of money and I thank him for that. It's tough to drive 2.5+ hours each way, especially during the Brady years when we had several primetime games, my 5-8 YO son getting home at 2-3 a.m., not good.
Re: The OFFICIAL 2024 Bucs off-season thread
I can definitely understand that. But...yeah...I thought I remembered you went to a lot of the games but then your post made me question what I thought. lolacmillis wrote: ↑Thu Feb 22, 2024 1:45 pmI didn't have season tickets last season. IDK why, but I don’t have as much fun at the games “these days” as I did, say, 10 years ago.Buc2 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 22, 2024 1:57 pmI can definitely understand that. I guess when my expectations were so low, it was easier to enjoy.
Now that we’ve been good, and I’ve got some expectations, when they’re not met, I get bitter for waiting an entire day…and the $.
Re: The OFFICIAL 2024 Bucs off-season thread

You got one thing correct, season tickets holders lose a lot of money due to last-minute hacks all over the internet. That's how I got club level seats for $75 for most games. I talked to most of the season ticket holders and they felt that it's not worth buying season tickets because of that.acmillis wrote: ↑Thu Feb 22, 2024 1:45 pmI didn't have season tickets last season. Re: The OFFICIAL 2024 Bucs off-season thread
In addition to tailgating, spend about $400 on parking for all games a year.
Re: The OFFICIAL 2024 Bucs off-season thread
10% agree. When I took my son to the Falcons game (in TB) this season, I bought two tickets in 311, Row N, with a parking pass, all for $60 total. It doesn't pay to be a season ticket holder in FL because of all the fairweather fans* not willing to pay for my damn tickets.Phantom wrote: ↑Thu Feb 22, 2024 2:49 pm
