In terms of crazy or skills? AB was hella skilled, but also batshit.

Re: ***Official Free Agency Thread***
They actually are comparable. Very much so in fact. The point Doc made is a very good one. We added AB, a true #1 WR when we had Evans & Godwin, who were both well established.
Now Collins & Dell aren't as established as Evans & Godwin. So I believe Houston was looking for a true #1. That takes nothing away from Collins & Dell. But having Diggs in the mix only increases their opportunities because he will draw coverage away from them.

For comparison, AB played 9 years in Pittsburgh, Diggs just completed his 9th season.
AB in Pitt:
837 catches. 11207 yards. 74 TDs
Diggs through 9 years:
810 catches. 9995 yards. 67 TDs.

HOWEVA (in SAS voice)
Houston has a QB with one season of experience and Brady had eleventy million years of experience along with the respect and god-like following.
Now, does that mean Diggs won't walk the straight and narrow? No, but OPs do raise legitimate concerns about Diggs, let's call it "ability" to torpedo a culture.
Re: ***Official Free Agency Thread***
Diggs is nuts, but so are a lot of people. It’ll be fun there, until it’s not.
Unfortunately, not everyone is Mike Evans.

Re: ***Official Free Agency Thread***
Added incentive for Stefon Diggs: As part of the Buffalo-Houston trade, the Texans wiped out the final three years on Diggs’ contract, giving him the ability to become a free agent after this season, per league sources. The Texans also took the $3.5 million guaranteed to Diggs next season and moved up into this season, giving him a raise and assuring him of $22.52 million in guaranteed money in 2024. But if Diggs plays the way he wants, and Houston hopes, he will hit the free-agent market next offseason with the ability to make it count. Houston now anticipates getting the best version of Stefon Diggs
Re: ***Official Free Agency Thread***
So..if Diggs is great, they can sign him to a deal or let him walk and get a third round comp pick? Sounds pretty smart on HOU's part.Phantom wrote: ↑Thu Apr 04, 2024 4:04 pmAdded incentive for Stefon Diggs: As part of the Buffalo-Houston trade, the Texans wiped out the final three years on Diggs’ contract, giving him the ability to become a free agent after this season, per league sources. So essentially, they give up a 2nd for a WR, a 5th and a 6th, but may also receive a 3rd if he signs a deal elsewhere?
Also, this trade makes Licht's trade of CDIII look pretty smart that we got a third for him and Diggs only goes for a 2nd rounder, huh?
Re: ***Official Free Agency Thread***
We got a 3rd round pick for our #1 corner who's 27 years old and has been the model citizen.
Buffalo got a 2nd round pick for a WR that's 30 years old and seen as a diva who's bad for the locker room.
Seems Buffalo's GM got the better deal, no @acmillis?
And they can only get a 5th round comp pick as Diggs will have accrued 10 seasons.

Again, thats for you to decide whether a 3rd and giving up 2 6ths is enough compensation for a 27 year old CB who’s been a model citizen.

So we should keep guys that are model citizens just because they behave? Roberto Aguyo was a model citizen too, why didn’t we keep him around?
Edit-pff has CD as a 58 overall, sooo mediocre. Other than being a good dude, why keep a player who is expensive and average at best, and who misses multiple games literally every…single…season

Might be the most dominant receiving trio to ever play together.
I don't think very many teams could matchup with our Super Bowl roster.
Evans, Godwin and AB made it so the defense could never make a good decision in coverage.
It was only 4 years ago but it already feels like a lifetime.
Re: ***Official Free Agency Thread***
Not really. AB never topped 545 yards here. Evans also barely hit 1000 both of those seasons. The trio that comes to mind for me is the 03 or 04 Colts where Marvin Harrison; Reggie Wayne & Brandon Stokley each had 1000+ yards and 10+ TDs.BucsNBills wrote: ↑Thu Apr 04, 2024 7:36 pmMight be the most dominant receiving trio to ever play together.

@BucsNBills Okay so since you clearly disagree, what makes Evans, Godwin, and AB the most dominant receiver trio of all time? It clearly isn’t on field production, so would you be so kind as to enlighten us.

Re: ***Official Free Agency Thread***
Full disclosure, Browns first year was basically a 0, so you're counting DIggs' 9 vs Brown's 8. No, Diggs did not put up superstar numbers year 1, but I think we can all agree that a 52 / 720 / 4 is lightyears better than 16 / 167 / 0.
If you throw out their first 3 years, Brown's numbers... 686 / 9145 / 67, are much better than Diggs' 610 / 7523 / 52... so I think @Phantom is right.
Re: ***Official Free Agency Thread***
Randy Gregory's deal is on the books. We currently have between $485k-$488k in cap space. So someone will be getting restructured soon enough.

Bucs 2020 pass offense is the #8th highest rated passing offense (92.0). The only pass offenses PFF has graded higher in that 10 year span are..
2020 GB (94.5)
2018 NO (92.9)
2018 KC (92.1)
2017 NE (93.1)
2016 NE (92.9)
2016 ATL (91.5)
2013 DEN (92.9)
The Bucs had 3 WR in the top 50 in 2020.
In 2020, GB had 1 WR in the top 50.
In 2020, KC had 1 WR in the top 50, NO had 2.
In 2017, NE had 2.
In 2016, NE had 1, ATL had 3.
In 2013, DEN had 2.
Based on that, it could be argued that the 2020 Bucs and the 2016 Falcons have had the two best trios of WRs in the past decade. The other higher ranked pass offenses seem to have been a result of superior QB play and 1 high performing WR (Devante Adams, Tyreek Hill, Julio Jones).
And from the eyeball test, our trio of Mike Evans (HoF), Godwin (All-Pro), and ANTONIO BROWN was absolutely insane. Antonio Brown as our WR3.
Re: ***Official Free Agency Thread***
The 2020 Bucs trio of Evans, Godwin, Brown combined for 180 catches, 2329 yards, and 24 TDs. That's not dominant by any measure and it didn't even take me long to find a better trio. The 2021 Bengals trio of Chase, Higgins, and Boyd combined for 222 catches, 3374 yards, and 24 TDs.Sdbucs wrote: ↑Mon Apr 08, 2024 5:13 pmOver the past 10 years, combining Reg + Post season...

From a WR production standpoint, no. From an overall offensive production and their impact, yes. That stretch from 2020-2021 with AB prior to meltdown offense was close to unstoppable.

The passing game as a whole then was dominant. As a trio though, which is what @BucsNBills original point was, it wasn't. In fact, swapping out AB with Scotty Miller in 2020 would yield better production.Grahamburn wrote: ↑Mon Apr 08, 2024 6:45 pm From a WR production standpoint, no. Re: ***Official Free Agency Thread***
It wasn't just Antonio Brown, though. Our top four or Evans, Godwin, AB, and Miller were ridiculous, it's true. But we also had Rob Gronkowski, too.
Defensively, teams were screwed. If you man up, where do you put your CB3? Either AB or Godwin is gonna feast on your third best dude, and Gronkowski is going to posterize your linebackers and safeties. And if you go zone, then the greatest QB of all time is going to dice you up one slice at a time until you are finished.
That Bucs' offense on a hot day is the stuff from which defensive nightmares are made.

Had Godwin not been injured and AB not gone off the rails they had a pretty great chance to win back to back championships.

If you don't think that Evans Ab and Godwin weren't a dominant trip when they played together, then okay, that's your take. Cool.
The other posters understood my point so that's all that matters to me
The trio made defenses look silly, and then you thrown in Gronk and it was just a lose lose scenario for the defense.
