Re: ***2024 NFL Offseason thread ***
Ran a mock draft today. I think I would be happy with this one.

Think I'd want a guard with one of those 3rds.

We already have an Oline. You need to be patient.

I agree, but the guys left would have been stretches. If this mock allowed trades I would have traded back.

Re: ***2024 NFL Offseason thread ***
Loved the media making the rounds on Tom Brady paying the OL for screen plays...
Did it work?
I assume the answer is in the stats they did not provide. Like how many screens of 15 yards or more were produced, but what the heck the story produces copy and gets eyeballs.
So, before Tom Brady the Buccaneers averaged 7.3 yards per screen. With Brady, they averaged 5.4 yards per screen. The Bucs were one of the worst screen teams in the NFL before Brady got to town. In the five years before Brady’s arrival, Tampa used screen passes approximately 9.2% of the time, averaging 55 pass attempts and 401.6 yards from screens per season.
During Brady’s three-year tenure, they used screens 12.9% of the time, averaging 105 pass attempts and 562 yards from screens per season, per pro Football Focus, showing that Brady’s bribery seemed to work.

Re: ***2024 NFL Offseason thread ***
Now that 5th yr options are guaranteed, I wouldn't pick it up either. To me, the smart thing to do is to not pick up the 5th year option and give Fields a 2-yr extension where he gets some money now to bring him up to $5M this season, then Y2 be $10M, and Y3 be $15M... with no guaranteed money.

Looks like the minimum price is set for Wirfs now
Re: ***2024 NFL Offseason thread ***
Sewell is very deserving of that deal. As is St Brown of his. Detroit is positioning themselves to be a force for years to come. Just gotta find that QB.

Re: ***2024 NFL Offseason thread ***
You'd think the Bucs would want this done sooner than later.
That said, they might be waiting to see how Wirfs improves at LT. This was his "worst" season overall and it's likely no coincidence that it came at a new position. OBP might want to see if they can get a true LT in the draft or see if Wirfs does better.

Re: ***2024 NFL Offseason thread ***
Wirfs "worst" season was attributed to the fact that he played hurt and gave up sacks and penalties as he gimped around. I don't feel the team has any plans move him back to RT. Regardless, I'd love to get him locked up now and not let negotiations linger through the season.Bootz wrote: ↑Wed Apr 24, 2024 2:35 pmYou'd think the Bucs would want this done sooner than later.

I'd love to get him locked up ASAP as well. But you have to keep in mind that at the end of the day, this is a business. And teams will preach about love and loyalty all day long. But any opportunity they see to save a dollar they won't hesitate to take it.IchabodCrane84 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 24, 2024 5:19 pmWirfs "worst" season was attributed to the fact that he played hurt and gave up sacks and penalties as he gimped around. I could easily see a conversation going something like this.
Bucs FO to Wirfs & agent:
"Hey Tristan, (agent). Tristan had a pretty good year moving over to LT. Making the Pro Bowl is impressive. You did struggle a bit though with penalties and sacks. Yea, could've been injuries, but injuries have kind of come up for you before. We want to be fair and make sure we're getting the best value with you being at LT. No way to say for sure if it was the injuries or the fit on the left side. This offer might not be what you're looking for. But we're completely comfortable waiting until next offseason just to see how things go this season at LT."

He probably should move back, since he's even better at Sewell at not giving up sacks.Bootz wrote: ↑Wed Apr 24, 2024 2:35 pmYou'd think the Bucs would want this done sooner than later.

Re: ***2024 NFL Offseason thread ***
It was reported that the Bucs promised Wirfs that he would be the highest paid tackle before these negotiations started. That sounds like a very honest thing for a former lineman to say to such an elite tackle. If it is true, Licht would not renege on thatBootz wrote: ↑Wed Apr 24, 2024 5:23 pmI'd love to get him locked up ASAP as well. I have serious doubts. That would've been done by now.kaimaru wrote: ↑Wed Apr 24, 2024 7:35 pmIt was reported that the Bucs promised Wirfs that he would be the highest paid tackle before these negotiations started. Re: ***2024 NFL Offseason thread ***
Could be that Wirf's agent knew a deal was coming for Sewell and told Wirfs to wait for it. I'm sure agents talk to each other to maximize the money for their clients if it will set a new market price. To clarify, RT is never going to make as much as LT, so it made sense to get Sewell done first to aid with Wirfs

I’m sure he didn’t say that, but it’s both the expectation and truth of the matter.
Re: ***2024 NFL Offseason thread ***
Some reporters like Albert Breer expect Aiyuk to be extended and Deebo Samuels to be dealt.
