Damon Arnette
Raiders just cut him. First round draft pick out of Ohio State. This team needs help in the secondary. Major character issues. If anyone can get him to behave, it's guys like Tom Brady and Lavonte David.
Should we take a flyer on him with a prove it type deal?

Re: Damon Arnette
You want us to take a chance on a guy who was just cut because he had death threats in a video?
Dude's career is as good as over.

Re: Damon Arnette
The one thing we have lacked is a head case lunatic causing distractions. We should definitely pick up a guy who averages 1 car accident a week and was just cut for threatening to kill someone. Days after his teammate actually did kill someone.
You know how they say you can't teach speed? You also can't teach that level of stupidity.

No.
He was struggling on the field. Then he struggled with injuries. Then he struggled to be a human.

Re: Damon Arnette
Yeah get his rights and get him the perceived help he needs.
Re: Damon Arnette
Nope, and not because of the vid he made. He's a terrible corner and that's why we shouldn't sign him.

Nah. I think once healthy we'll be fine.
Re: Damon Arnette
Funnily enough, Arnette has both stupid problems AND speed problems.nybf wrote: ↑Tue Nov 09, 2021 11:12 am The one thing we have lacked is a head case lunatic causing distractions. Hard pass.
Re: Damon Arnette
Would he not be hard pressed to not expect a guaranteed contract?
Re: Damon Arnette
That's the ticket to perform and fly the straight and narrow.
Re: Damon Arnette
Bowles will turn him into a good man.
Re: Damon Arnette
He is a scheme fit on paper but I think the guy would rather have a rap career than play football.

Re: Damon Arnette
Imagine having this many opportunities. This many coaches. This much time. And still being this fucking stupid. This isn't even a hard pass for me, we're in the Tom Brady Era not the "Buccaneer Men" era where we pray talent can come in off the street and lead us to 5 glorious wins a year

No. Nein. NYET.
Re: Damon Arnette
He was ass with the Raiders when he played, which was rarely because he was always banged up, he'd lose a footrace to Tristan Wirfs, and he's got some...let's say...personality issues. The only reason anyone is talking about him is because Mayock is a lunatic who took him in the 1st when he probably could have gotten him in the 3rd.
I wouldn't want him even if SMB and Sherman weren't both coming back this week.

Kudos to the head fake.
I very rarely believe in bringing in outside bodies. I wasn’t against Brady coming here, i just thought #itsabucslife would curse him.
Re: Damon Arnette
I don't watch any college football, so I don't get into the whole draft big board thing. I've got a question.
You say Mayock is a lunatic because he took Ruggs in the 1st. Does that mean someone who had Ruggs in their top 10 would be considered the same? I know prospect grading is inexact at best, but the gap between top 10 and 3rd round is huge.
Re: Damon Arnette
When it comes to Mayock and the Raiders, you gotta remember that Gruden and Mayock had a 51-49% situation going on. Gruden had the ultimate say on who was drafted. Imo Mayock gets a pass for some of the head scratching picks because of that fact. Now, this year, we'll see if those crazy off the wall out of nowhere picks that the Raiders have become known for was the work of Gruden pulling the veto card or if it was Mayock the whole time.
Re: Damon Arnette
I never blasted the Ruggs pick (though Mayock is still on the hook for the ultimate outcome, because it's a results business.) In fact, Ruggs was rounding into one of his better decisions this season. I would have taken Jerry Jeudy there, but it's a matter of taste.nybf wrote: ↑Wed Nov 10, 2021 8:19 amI don't watch any college football, so I don't get into the whole draft big board thing. But he absolutely was a lunatic for the Arnette pick. It was as big a Top 20 reach as I've ever seen in 30+ years watching the draft. Dude absolutely would have been there in the 2nd and possibly the 3rd. He wasn't a bad player, but he had 4.6 speed and it looked like it. He was a press corner, but there was zero chance you'd ever be able to trust him running down the field with a fast receiver. And he looked lost in zone.
Here's a good write up: https://www.nfl.com/prospects/damon-arn ... 6ba8411b32
Notice the "Good Backup" part? That's what most considered him. A borderline starter. Maybe a situational guy. You could make a case for the 2nd round based on him flashing his last year at OSU, but he was much closer to being the 79th best pick than the 19th best pick.
FWIW, Mayock then did it again this year, with a different Alabama guy - Alex Leatherwood. He was a 40-60 type prospect and they took him 17th overall, because they had a monster need at right tackle after the Trent Brown debacle. They immediately found out what everyone else already knew - he didn't have the feet to play on the outside - and moved in to Right Guard, basically admitting failure.

Pretty much every Raiders fan I've spoken to/seen post online has been of the opinion that this guy sucks as a football player as well as a human being. No thank you.
