2024 Summer Olympics - Paris
Re: 2024 Summer Olympics - Paris
Because far more people actually care about the summer Olympics. And unfortunately, success in the Olympics is used by authoritarian nationalistic countries like Russia, China, North Korea, etc.
Kicking their asses and being number one is a testament to who we are. And it pains them greatly.
USA is far out ahead in total medals, but they’re down one gold medal to China. Taking a look at the schedule for tomorrow, it appears the United States women are going to have a chance to get us ahead in the excellence category.

We should win the most medals because we send 3,458 athletes there. Uganda sends like 2, and Uzbekistan about 4-5. It's just silly.

When I posted, I didn’t see we were defending gold medalist in Omnius or whatever that Bike event was.
Not a fan of tying; swimming should have had more golds. And I think China’s swimmer’s (relay teams) are all doping.

Re: 2024 Summer Olympics - Paris
China’s entire athletic program is doping. From the table tennis players to the weightlifters.
The United States is actively trying to hold their athletes accountable. Internal testing and the regional testing and the Olympic testing. China and all the Soviet bloc countries are actively trying to BEAT those tests.
They play to win. We just have better athletes.

I've heard of swapping jerseys after a match, but shorts?

I tried out for the Olympics back in the day. Downhill skiing. And fucking right I would have tattooed that on me. But... I didn't qualify. Oh well. I'm still faster down the mountain than all of you sonsabithches.
Re: 2024 Summer Olympics - Paris
I don't know...I've been known to get down a mountain pretty damn quick.

Re: 2024 Summer Olympics - Paris
I've tried skiing a few times. I found that I have 1 elite ability on the slopes... speed. I can go from Point A to Point B extremely fast. The problem was that I couldn't turn and I couldn't stop. So, I figured I'd leave that sport up to the people who can do the two things I could not. It was safer for everyone on the mountain that way.
Re: 2024 Summer Olympics - Paris
Yes, stopping is relatively important. Turning, too, I guess. Turning and stopping, both good.
Other than that, yes, it's all about going balls to the wall. Barely controlled chaos. After all, you're on a mountain with boards strapped to your feet for Chrissakes.

Went skiing once in my life. I was in the Navy. We did a port call in Naples in January 1978. Me and a couple buddies took an early morning train to Capracotta, a little ski town in the Apennine's. Spent the entire day there. None of us had ever skied before, but we learned to control our speed, turn and stop from pointers given to us by locals throughout the day. We learned enough to get off the beginner's slope and brave an intermediate rated slope. Had a blast. Not sure why I never tried it again. Well, other than living back in Florida when I got out and was too poor to travel to any US resorts.

Was 18 years old and like others have said mastered the drag race pretty well. Knees ain’t that good for stopping and turning; my buddies enjoyed the comedy.
