Well maybe they should rethink that because for 7 of the last 8 quarters SMU looked like complete garbage. They got rewarded for one good quarter against Clemson who also looks like garbage.
NIL is changing everything Navy. These playoffs are a trial run to see if it needs tinkered with.
No game is going to be a 27-24 game. Maybe tonight, but it could potentially be a blow out too.
Everyone sucks the SEC dick all day. But no one wants to admit that they're the ones who overloaded their conference. They know their teams are going to lose. Don't fault a team for being in a lesser conference. Boise once won the Fiesta Bowl over Oklahoma. Upsets happen. NIU beat Notre Dame.
I hate sucking the SEC dick as much as you but the ACC champ has played an SEC team 3 times this year and got destroyed twice and got beat at home the other time. They just have better players. It doesn’t mean they’re always going to win the championship (although they do it 3/4 of the time) or they’re going to avoid an upset every time but they are far superior RIGHT NOW than the ACC.
I am just a believer of strength of schedule and that’s where SMU really looks bad this year compared to a team like Bama or Ole Miss.

So hypothetical situation… B1G play. If Wisconsin beats Oregon or Penn State, their record swings. Football is a game of what ifs. The teams play who they can. And I don’t fault a team for being in another conference.

This is what the first round score is expected to be. If you don’t expect this, you’re as dumb as a rock. Unless the Cinderella Boise State team is in it that running back is a real deal.
again
I expect blowouts in the first round of a 64-team basketball tournament but not when you get down to Sweet 16 (or 12).
I just think there’s a lot of separation between the top 7 ranked teams in the country (not seeded) and the rest of college football.
Again hate the SEC all you want but would anyone here be surprised if the national title game is Georgia vs Texas?

Did anyone actually expect the 12 to beat the 5?
Especially in this format?
Just another reason the 12 team format is dumb
It’s like saying the round of 64 basketball tournament is dumb until the upset happens. That’s what March Madness is about. Can NCAA football be the next December Madness?
