Show me all the QB’s THIS YEAR with better stats. I’ll wait.
Show me all the one's who played with the talent we have, that had a worse record. I'll wait.
Which talent of which specific players? You mean most of our back ups and third stringers that have taken us to the playoffs? Or do you mean most of our starters who were almost all injured and out many games (to a man) that didn’t play. Let’s see the list of talent you think took us to the playoffs. And yes, I will wait.

Quite possibly the throw of the season here:

It was an impressive looking throw on the broadcast, this view makes it freaking amazing.

Yeah, it's like talking to a brick wall with some people here.... they just can't be objective.

Imagine how some of these people are the same ones who go on and on about wanting Bowles fired.

Licht built the team, not Bowles.
This statement makes no sense. Lichts has created one of the best FO in the NFL because understands his role is empowering his HC to realize the HC's vision. His greatest super power as a GM is that he views the roster through the eyes, values, and mindset of his coaches. Which is why he has no problem walking away from yesterday's solution, whether its Revis, Jameis, Trask, etc.

If you're talking about "the team" in the grander decade span, sure.

But the 2024 Bucs are 100% a Bowles team. Just like 2020 was an Arians team and 2017 a Koetter team.

Look no further than the Baker saga. From everyone's account that was all Todd Bowles.

Bucs fans: Licht built this team, not Bowles.

Also Bucs fans: Bowles drafted Devin White, even though he was the DC.

Not quite. Licht and the front office looked at free agent QBs. They narrowed it down to Lock (because of his familiarity with Canales) and Mayfield, then after talking to Arians, Bowles and Canales about the two they reached out to Mayfield. Arians' opinion was a big factor, remember at one point Arians said the team he'd come out of retirement for was the Browns because of Mayfield. Mayfield and his agent also pursued the Bucs over the Ravens who were also interested in signing him.

Any good GM is going to get input from the coaching staff on players/types of players they want for their system but Licht and the scouting dept come up with the list of players to decide on based on interviews with Licht, Spytek and others.

Some info: and https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/386 ... sance-next

Quote from the ESPN article:
Still addressing salary cap issues from Brady's contract and $35 million cap hit, Tampa Bay was not in position to pay top dollar for Jimmy Garoppolo or Derek Carr, the top two free agent quarterbacks. The Bucs discussed backup Drew Lock, whom Canales coached in Seattle, before zeroing in on Mayfield, according to Licht. Licht saw a high ceiling based on Mayfield's best days, including a 2020 season when he threw 26 TDs to eight interceptions in leading the Browns to their first playoff win in 26 years.

There are 25 starting QBs that do this better including Fields, Minshew Howell and Wilson

You guys are amusing. No one here is arguing bakers a top 3-4 QB. But there sure as hell are not 15 other guys better than him in the league. I’m happy we got him. It could be a hell of a lot worse.

JTS, Chase Daniels and Kurt Warner have Baker graded similarly. Even Tom Brady has been very complimentary about Baker's play this season. You have a problem with professional analysts and a pair of HOFer QBs opinions as well?

N cause I’m a hater. I love him as a dude/teammate, I think he’s too inconsistent to do more than win a terrible division. Since tasting greatness, I’m not eager to settle for, “above average.”

Eh, we'll see. Baker just played two consecutive seasons of top-10 caliber football. I get it, after his early history, everyone is waiting for the other shoe to hit the ground, and I can't really blame anyone for feeling that way. Just as I know that even if he has yet another great season next year, that still won't be enough for a lot of people. Hell, even if Baker wins a SB in the next couple season, Bootz won't believe in Baker, not for a minute. He's just one of those people.

Hell, there's still some Chiefs fans that hate the fact that KC traded up for the Mahomes pick. Is what it is.

They try so hard. I still remember people trying to sell us how we needed to clean house and reset because we just lucked our way to the top. As if that happens.

Five playoff teams finished 10-7, including three division champions. We're also the 3 seed. When are we going to stop with this "product of a terrible divison" narrative?

Greatness like getting literal MVP consideration?

Or, let me guess, he just had a lucky season right? (again)

Baker has been insane this season. PFF has him at #6 overall QB above Mahomes.

I don't know why anyone would complain or call him average based on this season. He is playing out of his mind.

Are we positive about that?

Brett Favre won MVP in '95, '96 and '97. He had 13 INTs in both 1995-96, and 16 INTs in 1997. And he didn't throw for 40+ TDs in any of those years.
