Relying on the 3rd overall pick to be a starter post injury versus a 5th rounder isn’t really an apt comparison.Doctor wrote: ↑Mon Mar 17, 2025 11:56 am That's like saying counting on McCoy was a huge mistake because his first two years ended in bicep tears.
Injuries suck. But yes, we need better depth and development players at iLB.
Looking back and trying to play some Monday morning GM and even with the benefit of hindsight there aren't a plethora of moves. Overall it seems iLB isn't at a particular peak around the league either, most teams getting away with serviceable starters or vets.
This draft class is like much needed rain.

Oh I'm sorry, which of these guys were #3 overall picks with a 5yr/$55mil contract on the books??Doctor wrote: ↑Mon Mar 17, 2025 11:56 am That's like saying counting on McCoy was a huge mistake because his first two years ended in bicep tears.

You're still pretending you don't understand NFL economics. Do it again and I'm going to assume it isn't an act.

You said counting on him last year was a mistake. He got hurt. Had he not gotten hurt, counting on him would not have been a mistake. Or are you pivoting to "he isn't a good player" now? Which is another argument entirely, though equally ridiculous.

He played well the first two games and was everywhere against the Lions. Big reason they won the game. Had a sack against the Commanders too?
It’s not just Dennis getting hurt. It’s then needing to rely on Britt too much because he did. Dennis had shoulder injuries in college and then again as a rookie. Him getting hurt should have always been the expectation. Relying on LVD at his age too.
Even if Dennis doesn’t get hurt it’s still bad process.
I don’t have the answers though. Just saying. It bit us in the ass.

And another shoulder injury that put him out the entire year.
Doesn't matter if he's a good player or not if he's unavailable.

I get that. If McCoy kept getting hurt it also wouldn't have mattered how good he was.
I'm concerned about Denis. I was concerned about McCoy. Hopefully injuries are behind him. If they are not, well that's that.
If they are, which a coaching staff has to count on the player health, then he can go on to be a contributor for us.
Should we have great depth behind him just in case? Sure. But you can literally say that about every position. Hard to be perfect everywhere, all the time. But you do what you can and hope your holes don't get exposed.

Who is on your CB wish list? I hope we get a guy with real ability to play outside. In the case of Jahdae Barron he is likely an elite nickel that will hold his own playing the perimeter. Since Dean will be on the roster and Tykee could become our safety, I can see Barron being out target due to his versatility. My actual wish list has taller guys with speed like Shavon Revel. And the thing with Revel, his speed and physicality in tackling, he could start as a safety if need be. He has shutdown potential against TEs unlike almost any other DBs on the roster.
