We didn’t get a lot of INT’s last year and we really need more of those this year.
This real made me excited again for the season
Gruden challenged the D to not just take the ball away but score I believe 8 or 9 TDs and they actually did it between regular season and playoffs. Very lofty expectations but he promised it would get them a ring and it did.
Someone needs to challenge our guys on defense. You're right we didn't have a lot of picks last year. We had 7 all season long, playoffs included. And only 11 fumble recoveries. We need to take the ball away to be successful.

I honestly believe it is one of the main areas of focus we need to concentrate on
I said what I said

Holy shit! When are you going to stop being an asshat Bootz? @Doctor . If I were you, I’d ignore him and move on. It works wonders This back and forth is getting silly

Lots of people were hyping up our defense after week one. Extremely interested to see how they look tonight
Hopefully better. Especially the tackling. That was the biggest problem.
Agreed, I didn’t come out of that game thinking the defense was all that great. They did hold it down in the middle portion of the game, but even then I thought Penix missed some throws. And the first drive, and the last two drives of the game were not good at all, all for very different reasons.
But there were some promising signs and performances. So very excited/nervous/curious to see them against a very talented QB, but an overall subpar offense tonight.

Smith and Dennis need to play better. Smith gave up 7 of 9 for 71 yards.
Dennis gave up 6 of 6 for 117 yards and a TD.
I'm seeing 5 missed tackles if that's right.
Missed tackles just mean you had an opportunity to bring the ball carrier down and they broke the tackle. That doesn't include those whiffs where the defenders dive and barely make contact. We had a lot of those.
Kind of terrified of they will rush Wirfs back because of the need. We clearly still don’t manage injuries very well. Going all out to win September games and risking aggravating injuries is so short sighted.
Let Heck and that Ben Chiki dude get some burn, and game plan knowing your edge protection is weaker than before. If/when Wirfs is ready, great. But don’t change a thing about the plan because Luke is now hurt. Like how I suspect they rushed Luke to play last night because we were already short Wirfs.

Going up against that rush with backup tackles was dangerous. Luckily Baker didn’t get seriously hurt.
They should have ran it a bit more. Or at least more creatively.

Nailed it. Do NOT rush Wirfs back. I don’t care if it’s 2 more weeks before he is legitimately ready to go. We need him for the long haul.

Undrafted this year out of Tennessee. 335 pound nose, so we get significantly bigger up front. No idea about his play. @mdb1958?
Can we just run a lot more dime with BMo/Izien in and Dennis out? Feel like the run D is stout enough to hold up and Dennis is literally single handedly bringing down the entire coverage unit.
