Tua was slammed into the turf. Jarrett rolled over with Brady wrapped up. Boger continues to show why he's one of the worst refs in football.

Tua's head was slammed into the turf on the same sort of rollover tackle. Brady's shoulder is slammed into the turf instead of his head.

Yeah let's ignore that they missed an obvious DPI on the play before that would've prevented that play from happening.

Let's also ignore that we never get to that uncalled DPI if not for a horrible defensive holding call on the 3rd down before..

Exactly and they knew they screwed up the DPI call. Maybe it was a make up call but yes, horrible crew all around.

The officiating this game was disgusting but ultimately went both ways.

Just gets magnified in falcons favor for how it played out toward the end

That was flat out embarrassing. I'm embarrassed to win that way. I wish there was a way we could refuse to accept a "penalty".

We might have won anyway?

Yeah, that's kind of the point, shame we didn't get to play it out without getting superstar treatment from the refs.

That was FAR from a penalty. Dude did absolutely nothing wrong but sack the QB.

I mean JAYSUS, where in hell do you tackle these girl scouts if that was deemed a game deciding penalty?

Just horrible man, horrible way to "win".

Oh aye. I'm not making excuses. That was embarrassing on many levels. My comment was for Terry Tate, but having that action on Tua the other day, I can see the snap action call. Regardless of it being after the fact and Tom stiffening his neck just before impact to help prevent his head from slamming into the ground. This is a violent contact sport.

I missed the play when it happened, but looking at the replay and it's not a horrible call. AJT has both arms around Evans impeding his route. Borderline perhaps but against good receivers like Evans that gets called a good bit.

Roughing the passer call was still bad. The one in the Patriots game was worse though.

You should really understand the rules before commenting. Contact is allowed with the 1st 5 yards from the LOS. This was about 3-4 yards. Additionally, impeding is a stretch. Again, within the context of the rules, DBs are allowed to actually play defense on WRs. This isn't the arena league.

Yeah, I know contact is allowed but there are limits. Contact is initiated within five yards, but he's still got his arms around him after five yards. So like I said, it's borderline. Consistency with calls would be great, but that's not happening in any of our lifetimes. By rule, defensive holding can occur within five yards regardless of contact - after all, Hall was called for it on one of the two Falcon drives. Perhaps reading the rules will refresh your memory:

Defensive holding: ARTICLE 6. DEFENSIVE HOLDING

It is defensive holding if a player grasps an eligible offensive player (or his jersey) with his hands, or extends an arm or arms to cut off or encircle him.

And to help you with legal contact within the five yards:

ARTICLE 1. LEGAL CONTACT WITHIN FIVE YARDS

Within the area five yards beyond the line of scrimmage, a defensive player may chuck an eligible receiver in front of him. The defender is allowed to maintain continuous and unbroken contact within the five-yard zone, so long as the receiver has not moved beyond a point that is even with the defender.

And...

ARTICLE 2. ILLEGAL CONTACT WITHIN FIVE YARDS

Within the five-yard zone, if the player who receives the snap remains in the pocket with the ball, a defender may not make original contact in the back of a receiver, nor may he maintain contact after the receiver has moved beyond a point that is even with the defender.

So AJT starts off ok by being in front of Evans, but then he's got his arms around Evans and ends up behind him while still in contact. Letter of the rule, it's a penalty. Ticky tack and often not called, but certainly not a horrible call. The DPI and the roughing calls were horrible.

The whole NFC seems to be weak as fuck.

The NFC-E has one of the softest schedules I have ever scene.

Bills are straight up cheat code. Top Offense and Top Defense.

Random stat of the day: with this win, the Falcons are the first team the Bucs have beaten 30 times in the regular season. The Lions are the closest at 28 wins.

Also, Tom Brady has more wins over the Bills than the Bucs do over any team lol.

You think THIS is defensive holding? Watch any game and I guarantee you that you'll see worse not get called or even looked at as defensive holding. Better yet, watch this game and look at some of our DBs in coverage. If this is holding, then you can definitely say the refs gave us the game.

Assignment for you. Read the rules on defensive holding and legal/illegal contact within 5 yards, it's real simple since you have them quoted in this post. Then watch the play again. Tell me how it doesn't fit the definition by the book.

Then come back and report to the class without your normal goal-post moving BS.

Was it a great call? No. Was it correct when looking at the letter of the rule? Yes. It's certainly not the 'horrible' call some are claiming it to be - especially compared to the next two flags.

Just like offensive holding can be called on every play if they wanted to, so can defensive holding if the refs are going to adhere to the letter of the law.

@Pirate Life That call wasn't even correct according to the letter of the rule. There was no grasp. AJ didn't encircle Evans. Didn't extend his arm. Was there contact? Yes. It didn't impede Evans. You listed the rules and none of them apply to that call.
