Stafford's Week 3 TtT spread against us and the tape show the following:
Week 3 Stafford TtT
* 2.34 = # 3 quickest in NFL (Brady a fraction behind him)
* 22 of his throws were well under 2.5 seconds at 1.64 average TtT.
* However, his throws over 2.5 seconds yielded only 1 Sack, a huge Passer Rating of 139+, and 2 TDs.
So, again, the story was the same as above.
Overwhelmingly, we're losing because of the Quick Game as our back 7 coverage + calls aren't holding up in the time that NFL-standard coverage has to hold up. The ball is getting out well beyond what an NFL Pass Rush is capable of impacting on the significant bulk of throws. However, on his throws over 2.5 seconds in this game, the Pass Rush wasn't getting home either.
Mostly the back 7 coverage/calls, but the Pass Rush and Blitz failed to show up when its number was called.
@Nobody Keep in mind also that "sack" came with about 5 minutes to go in the game when LA had a 34-17 lead. They were chewing up clock.
139 passer rating & 2 TDs with >2.5 seconds to throw I hope is evidence enough that the pass rush simply is not there right now. No point in trying to Red Herring people to death with the "quick throws make the pass rush look bad" defense. We know the coverage is not where it needs to be, which is why Richard Sherman is in a Bucs jersey. But the pass rush isn't doing us any favors right now.
That’s not red herring people. It’s just what it is.
Our back 7 (which is a combo of personnel + technique + communication/cohesion + play-calling) is losing badly to the quick game, which is the significant % of passing game snaps we’re seeing. On those snaps, it’s irrelevant what the pass rush is doing.
When it’s not the quick game, we aren’t doing well either. On those snaps, the pass rush either (a) isn’t winning or (b) isn’t finishing (it looks to be around 30:70 from the tape…we aren’t finishing a lot).

Meh, it kinda is red herring. I'm not saying that the coverage has been doing their job perfectly. They've certainly been subpar and then some. But this idea that the pass rush is without fault that it doesn't matter what they're doing, I disagree with strongly. I look forward to you eventually telling us that the rush "almost" got home on numerous occasions but some unlucky act of God happened. Look at the tape and you'll see that a lot of the time, our guys are getting handled quite easily while being single blocked.

Did you watch last season? You may have missed this but our Bowles-led defense stunk it up a few different times last year as well.
Right over your head apparently
Apparently you're dense? Our defense didn't just have a bad game - they've been bad every game thus far this season. We have a whopping three sacks in three games and we're 31st in the league in pass defense. Go ahead and try to spin how those numbers can be dismissed as one bad game.

It's not me who is the dense one.
Your posts are so articulate and well-reasoned, they're just impossible to oppose.
Play some more Madden and ask a few friends who actually know something about football to tutor you a little more so perhaps one day, many years from now in a parallel universe, you can actually speak intelligently on the subject.
