I know im weird but thats how i am in the NFL too. If CLE cant win, id like Pitt or Cincy to. The Baltimore thing is something different obviously.

I second this notion.

I hope Notre Dame beats their ass.

Yeah I didn’t understand that either. It would be like Gators fans rooting for FSU. I think they’d rather jump off the Skyway than do that.

I'm talking about Gator fans cheering for GA or Bama when they are out of it.

Oddly enough, I have always cheered for my state teams, Gators, Noles, and even the Canes, lol

Mom was a Gator fan, Dad was a Nole, and Miami beat Oklahoma the year I was at Ft Sill and hated all things Oklahoma

It’s just a football game. Don’t take it personally. My girlfriend is an OSU fan, so nothing is wrong with that.

Penn State has historically struggled with OSU. Watching them win a Natty would be motivation for the team, albeit hurting recruiting.

So Indiana lost to two schools this year - Ohio State and Notre Dame

I wonder if that has ever happened before. When a school’s only two losses are to the two playing in the national championship

I’m surprised there’s little activity on this thread. After all, there’s a national championship game this Friday.

Game is Monday.

Also, lot of movement toward ND on the spread. Started at -9.5. Now down to -8.

Penn State lost Tom Allen to @Kress 's Clemson squad.

They also managed to keep both running backs going into next year. Only two big losses are Abdul Carter and Tyler Warren. Plus the weak ass WR's that we had.

Ewers going to NFL Draft. Thank God. The rumors of him transferring to ND scared me. I hope CJ Carr is leading the Irish next year as ESPN predicts. I like Angeli, too, but Carr was very highly coveted and has reportedly wowed coaches as a redshirt before his injury. Dude also has good football genes in him as he’s the grandson of the former Michigan coach who won the Natty in ‘97.

The Irish are unlikely to join the SEC or Big Ten anytime soon.
Notre Dame athletic director Pete Bevacqua said the independent Irish are comfortable continuing to give up access to a first-round bye in the College Football Playoff -- something currently granted to only the four highest-ranked conference champions -- as long as the fate of conference championship games remains the same.

"We're comfortable that if conference championship games continue as they're currently configured, part of the deal we made is that we wouldn't get a bye, and that's understandable," Bevacqua said Saturday, speaking to a small group of reporters at the national championship game media availability at the Georgia World Congress Center. "And quite frankly, I wouldn't trade that [first-round] Indiana game at Notre Dame Stadium for anything in the world, but you also have to be smart and strategic, and your odds of making a national championship game are increased if you get to play one less game.

They have no reason to until the formation of the super conference. Which will be happening in the next 10 years.

Irish will always have a bye week since they don't play in a conference championship game anyway. They can continue to play that game against a team that would/could never win a conference championship instead.

I am fine with them not being in a conference. I would like to see the old rivalries brought back with Michigan, Penn State, Miami, and Michigan State, though, instead of playing the ACC every year.

Don't worry, in the next few years, the ACC won't exist in football. Football will be its own entirely in the next handful of years or so.

Starting in 2026, the SEC and Big Ten will have complete control over college playoff, which should tell you lot

Final prediction:
My heart says ND 27, OSU 24
Brain says OSU 24, ND 17

I do think ND will keep this close especially in the first half. These teams have played two very close games in back to back years and there’s not much that’s changed to think this year will be any different. Like I said last week, if there’s any area where OSU is sort of average, it’s their OL, and if there’s any one area where the Irish are spectacular, it’s creating pressure on the qb and forcing turnovers (I.e what they did to Allar at the end of the game). ND also has a big advantage with ST. So if the Irish can force turnovers and the offense just does what they did against Georgia and not make mistakes, they have a shot. But Ohio State top to bottom has a talent advantage, no doubt. I do think ND has the better coaching staff though and that could always play a factor. Al Golden is the best DC in football and Mike Denbrock is as good as Chip Kelly when it comes to OCs.

I think if OSU isn’t off to the races quickly, could go south for them in a hurry.

That said, if OSU is off to the races. ND could lose by 20+.

Also best player prop is TE Mitchell Evans over 31.5 yards receiving. ND will have to throw at some point and he’s their #1 guy. He had 58 yards vs PSU. I might also go +400 for him to go over 60 yards.

Yeah I agree. First quarter is key. If ND holds them at bay early, they have a shot. Got to keep the pace slow like they did vs Georgia. Can’t let this turn into a track meet. They’ve done this the last two years and it’s why they’ve almost won both times. Al Golden seems to have the recipe for slowing them down. He was the only coordinator that made CJ Stroud look ugly.

Late money pouring in on ND. Spread has dropped from 9 to 7.5 in last hour.

Howard is the wild card imo.

He’s good at one thing. Throwing deep to 1st round pick WRs. Thats it.

Get him rattled, seeing ghosts, and having to chase score wise. And it’s a bad time for him.

Well no one is better at rattling quarterbacks than Notre Dame. Just ask Drew Allar and Kurtis Rourke.

The only way that could’ve gone better for Notre Dame, was if it took another six minutes to drive the field. Lol

Okay…I did not think that the Irish offensive line would own Ohio State’s DL like that. That was surprising.

Just saw that some fighting Irish player is playing his 70th game at Notre Dame.

The fuck? Just take away the eligibility limit already.

Yeah I’m trying to figure out what’s changed here. Howard getting that ball out on 3rd down was uncharacteristic. That was big.
