Seattle needed about 25-30 yards to try a potential game-winning field goal. Darnold also didn’t float anything, he got hit as he threw and the ball bounced off Hall’s helmet. Ironically potentially Hall’s best play of his career.BuccaNOLEer wrote: ↑Mon Oct 06, 2025 10:32 amI never said Bowles was the problem. My issue with Bowles is that he comes across as softer than baby shit. And that's not the type of coach that wins a Super Bowl.bucarican wrote: ↑Sun Oct 05, 2025 9:17 pm
No excuses at all, but to say Bowles is the problem is not fair. He saved that blitz that caused the INT for the perfect situation, and it happened. He has the corners playing at a high level, but they can't cover for 20 mins, and Dennis is not playing well in coverage.
Last yr I would say he was very conservative at times.
That being said, we won that game because Seattle got cute. They could've and should've run out the clock and taken their chances in OT because whoever got the ball first would win the game (neither side could stop the other). Instead, Sam Darnold was typical Sam Darnold. He floated the ball out there with the game on the line and it got picked.

Every person and player at OBP repeatedly puts Bowles at the center of our current culture.

Re: Todd Bowles is the problem
He has been much better with game and clock management so far this year. I did think we probably should have gone for two yesterday instead of the tie with all three timeouts still available. Especially when you consider they had not stopped Seattle since the end of the first half.
Re: Todd Bowles is the problem
That’s always a tough one for me to keep consistent logic with what I want them to do. But my thought yesterday was even if we get the 2 points to take the lead, I’d feel very pessimistic about being able to stop Seattle with plenty of time left and all of their timeouts from getting into FG range for the win when they would be in do or die mode. Tbf I was also pessimistic about stoping them when the game was tied from doing the same thing. But at least in that scenario Seattle wouldn’t go for it on fourth down, and be in desperation mode like they would if they were trailing. When Baker held up two I was very nervous and when Bowles took the PAT I felt a little better about it, and that’s about as far as my ‘analysis’ of the situation goes.Grahamburn wrote: ↑Mon Oct 06, 2025 3:52 pm He has been much better with game and clock management so far this year. The only time I am 100% in favor of going for two and the win is when there is truly no time left for the other team to reasonably put together a drive. Even last year in the Chiefs game I would have been nervous about giving them a minute, or whatever was left on the clock in that game. A desperate team just needing to get in FG range… idk, I don’t love Bowles’ defenses in those scenarios.
Re: Todd Bowles is the problem
Agreed. I actually didn't like the call for 2, glad they went for the XP.
With field position being what it is and kickers having the leg they do, better to not put Seattle in a do or die. A sack or bad play likely leads them to just take it to OT themselves. There we can not only win the coin toss but if we give up a FG we still get it back.
You can also lose the game right then and there with a failed 2 point.
I liked the XP call. Good game management.

Re: Todd Bowles is the problem
I’m not harping on it too much.
If you DO get it then obviously they’re 4 down territory and they had plenty of time with all 3 TOs. If you don’t get it they’ll be more conservative. Kicking the XP also keeps them a little more conservative.
I DID like the defensive play call in bringing pressure. They didn’t sit back and it won the game.

Blitzed Deion Jones and Parrish and the pass was rushed into an incompletion.

We haven't been tested yet by a truly well balanced offense. That test comes Monday night. It's Jared Goff so that blitz rate had better increased. He notoriously folds under pressure.

Showed it last night too. Have to take them out of their heavy set run game. If you can Goff starts killing worms.

That's gonna be the challenge. Jahmyr Gibbs is so frustratingly hard to tackle and he just wears on a defense. Then you throw in Montgomery, it just becomes almost unfair.Grahamburn wrote: ↑Mon Oct 13, 2025 4:10 pm Showed it last night too. We need Dennis to have the best game of his career and LVD to hope in the Delorean.

Overall, I think Bowles has been head and shoulders better in terms of time management and in-game decisions. It's been a pleasant change vs. last season, imo.

At this point, Injuries are the problem.
Re: Todd Bowles is the problem
No one, not even the NFL world, predicted this before the season.
Todd Bowles as the Coach of the Year??? it's possible

Hard to argue against with all the injuries... on that note, Jason Licht GM of the year
