Either way, we're thankfully/hopefully lightyears away from having to relying on Sterling Shepard again.
Why the hate? He wasn't dominant, but he made plays for us.
Bad drops. Dumb penalties.

Didn't mean for it to come off as hate. He held the floor, but that's pretty much it. He's a floor play. And in a different offense that may be good enough but this offense runs/ran out of the slot and Sterling wasn't moving the needle.

Being light years away from mid is more a praise for where we're at now.

Not just drops but not running the route well enough to maximize the separation is was designed to give him, making Baker's job harder than it needed.

Agreed the WR room has crazy talent now. We will be letting someone go that will help another roster. Hopefully not, and they hang around Tampa just in case injuries pop up again, but if I'm another team, I'm watching cutdowns from our roster like a hawk.

Would be nice to say the same about every roster spot on the team, but we aren't there yet.

I think Sterlings was rightfully a emergency PS stash last year and should find himself there again.

Out of the guys not in the top six, Greene is the one that's showing up in reports more often for making catches/plays. Though Johnson's been sidelined a good bit of camp. Jarrett's only shown up far as I can recall when Morrison got the INT while covering him, could be the odd man out/not on the practice squad.

I believe he already has a job, as a kick and punt returner? No?

To be fair, it was a free release + busted coverage. He just ran in a straight line.

Apparently he broke off his routes based off of coverage per Baker

Now, that is impressive. Especially for Baker to recognize it at the same time, and let it go when he did.

Yeah, but the catch. Those full arm extension catches are the hardest. Kudos to Tez for coming down with that, even if the route wasn't terribly difficult.

Does not for a minute negate an amazing throw and catch.

Crazy that the top half of this list was unavailable for Baker by the 4th quarter, and still came out with a W against a 4-1 team.

What makes Tez an amazing value pickup in the 7th as opposed to 3-5th round is the fact that he is a deadly WR 3 to 5 and will likely never even be a WR2.

A physical corner can easily take him out of the game unless an OC calls plays to design Tez being open. With him complimenting a healthy Evans, Egbuka and eventually McMillan, Tez could always be the guy Baker and Gizzard look to in a bind to generate chunk plays.

Niners D did that a lot once Warner went down. The Kam Johnson TD was even worse.

That catch by Tez Johnson was amazing though.

They way we're using motion with these guys causes problems for defenses wanting to get physical with them. If we can get Mike back it will open up the field even more.

I'm impressed this kid made the team. Well done for him. 7th rounders rarely make an impact outside of special teams. Hope he keeps doing well.

He was super productive at Oregon. People see his size and then he didn't run a 4.29 at the combine so he dropped. Kid is a football player.

6 catches 112 yards, 1 TD. In 6 games.

Have we learned nothing from Tyler Johnson? Trey Palmer? Scotty Miller?

I really like this kid. Which is kind of different for me, because I generally don't like small, lightly built WRs. Sure, they're usually highly athletic burners, but too often they 're fragile, have small catch radiuses (I know that's incorrectly spelt), and lose too often in contested catch situations. But Tez, I don't even know exactly why, feels like a guy that's just a big play waiting to happen every single time he's on the field. I would not be surprised if he somehow makes a big play for us in the playoffs.

I agree. I hope he maintains his performance throughout the season. That catch was a Kodak moment.

26 receivers taken before him in the draft, he's performed better than 17 of them so far. It's ok to be happy for Tez and that he's on the team. Don't need HoF players at every position. Pretty sure people still appreciate Tyler Johnson's catch in the playoffs as well as Miller's TD. Both were crucial to getting the ring and the trophy in 2020 regardless of whatever else they did here.

I mean, Scotty Miller’s catch in the Green Bay game helped us to get to the Super Bowl. I’ll take it. Who cares if he’s a 5th, 6th, or 7th rounder for Pete’s sake..
