Mayfield's 2023 renaissance earned him a new contract, but also queued up the doubters who believed he had little chance of replicating such success under a different offensive coordinator in 2024. Boy, were they wrong.

Mayfield outdid himself this season, resetting his previous career-highs in passing yards, touchdowns and completion percentage. Those new marks look even more impressive when you consider he produced the bulk of his production without one or both of his top pass-catchers, with Chris Godwin sustaining a season-ending injury in Week 7 and Mike Evans missing three games, as well. In their absence, Mayfield kept Tampa competitive by successfully leaning on lesser-known names. Under his direction, the Bucs offense transformed into a team capable of exploding for 30-plus points in any given week, as they did three times over their final seven games (six wins). His performance proved Tampa was right to take a flier on him in 2023 and cemented his status as the franchise's QB1.

Does anyone think Dilfer would have fared better in 02 compared to Johnson?

I think Gruden and Johnson were the right fit at the right time, I don't think Dilfer would've been. That said, I think if Dilfer entered the league with a better team, from an offensive perspective, he'd have been a better QB. I don't think Dungy's staff had the ability to coach up / develop any QB. I think that if a team who had a coaching staff in place that would help develop a QB, took Dilfer, his career would've played out better for him in the end.

Exactly.

Baker didn't force a single punt that entire game. He needs to do a much better job covering and sacking ... an interception once in a blue moon would be nice too.

Lazy prick.

Thank you! Exactly!

Baker needs to work on snapping the ball more consistently too. And next time Baker snaps it to Baker, Baker better not flub up the handoff to Baker ... High and tight in the breadbox Baker! ... guy can't get anything right. And I'll say this too ... if he screws up again next year, we're taking away his defensive play calling duties ... laces out, Baker!

When you do things like this (from time to time), and win because of it, it's magic... when it happens randomly and you still lose, that's called luck. They are not the same.

I’ll just do the entire season. You won’t watch it because you’re an insufferable hater but just play after play after play made by the QB avoiding pressure and either picking up first downs with his legs or throwing on the run.

All the pocket dimes are in there too. Worth about $4.10.

Not magic or luck. It’s just a damn good play by a QB.

Josh Allen, the league MVP, threw 18 interceptions in 2023.

What's your point?
We're paying the price for a half-measure taken by The Union 160 years ago.

10 of them were in wins. So, they aren’t really brought up because they weren’t impactful in terms of game outcomes.

I’d say the two red zone INTs against Atlanta, with complete backups everywhere at WR, were the most egregious in terms of costing the team a game.

Deep ball against Dallas that McMillan didn’t fight for? That one hurt.

Any others stand out? No pick sixes all year.

I’d say the other red zone INT against the Ravens after losing Mike really stung.

It’s funny. Take AJ Brown and Devonta Smith away from Hurts. We saw it first hand. We blew them out. They quit and he was pure ass all day.

Take Chase and Higgins away from Burrow. Think he might throw another INT or two?

Take Mahomes’ receivers away. He was pretty mortal all year without Rice or other weapons.

Our guy made it work with Rahkim Jarrett and Sterling Shepard but we sit around grinding our gears wondering why he threw a few picks.

Fucking clowns.

You're right, I won't watch, but for a different reason. The play in question was a turnover worthy play that he was lucky to have worked out. They very first clip in the video you posted was him sitting comfortably in the pocket and threw and high percentage pass to a guy who was open.

Again, the play in question was a turnover worthy play that he was lucky to have worked out. The first play in your "evidence", was him sitting comfortably in the pocket throwing to an open receiver. Those plays are not the same.

It was a turnover worthy plays that worked. You don't want to call it luck or magic, that's fine... but to call it "a damn good play by a QB", doesn't fit.

Is this the “I have nothing else intelligent to say” trump card?

What does that mean?

You won’t give baker any credit for what he had to work with all year. The guy put up incredible numbers. Top 5 numbers.

Turnover worthy play on 4th down in a gotta have it situation? What are you talking about?

Would you prefer he slide or run out of bounds?

Yeah, just pocket perfection over and over in that clip. QB bliss.
