I received a board warning for this from MODXVI yesterday.

I replied to the warning and asked why…and never received a reply.

@Hammy took a situation where the Mods told 2 members to pipe down and maybe 1 where his own post was altered and extrapolated that to being a hidden, unwritten, secret yet enforced rule that no one knew about except him. Then he called himself "warning" everyone that they'd better be careful or they'd get banned.

How was he wrong? He said a board wide rule was in effect that in fact was and is not in effect board wide. He used his experience to make a lofty assumption and then even doubled down telling everyone that it was a rule.

You fell for it, and even tried to warn me not to commit board suicide. So I can understand why you're trying to save face.

Bottoming though, @Hammy assumed something and he was wrong.

That's rather arrogant. "Well if it happened in my circle then it MUST be effecting everyone else".

The main issue is here is he made the claim before he got confirmation. Put the cart before the horse. He was fine asking the initial question but then when he tells @Buc2 that it is in effect, he did so without any verification as to whether what he was saying was true or not. Thats why the Mods got snarky and thats why he was wrong.

Your main issue needs to be with that. Not the tone the Mod responded with.

Not at all. I gave you the benefit of the doubt when you made your initial claim, but unlike you, I called the Mods out by name to get clarification. That's what you should've done instead of running with your assumption. You were wrong. No one is gonna tell you that except me.

How many people and posts are we talking? Again this seems to be a very focused situation involving a very limited number of people. This isn't the same as the Snake situation where C-words got banned and everyone was notified.

And answer me this, if this was in effect as @Hammy said, why did he initially ask for clarification?

Clearly, there are mixed messages. Including one poster having a post deleted. Clearly that could lead someone to believe there is a new rule -Why else would a mod delete a post. At the same time other people are changing quotes and there is no warning, and their posts aren’t deleted.

Start showing how many times members report posts in the name of transparency. I think some never do it while others think they are making a living off of it.

My point exactly. 3, Hammy, Chef, and 13F11B. And it was a situation it sounds like where the latter 2 took things too far and 1 post from Hammy.

That's not making a change wide spread. It was kept in the politics forum as it should've been. Hammy however did complain about it being a rule change and told others that it was in effect. On that he was wrong. How can you not see that? At most we're talking a handful of posts involving 3 people. That doesn't mean everyone on the board is impacted.

Hammy made a very small situation larger than it should've been.

We all (well...the majority of us) do this. Always have. It's not a big deal, so I'm not sure why it's suddenly being made into a big deal by moderators. Because 13F cried to them? Weird.

I have been through every iteration of this board and usually enjoy reading and occasionally posting when I get home and have a cigar to relax. I'd like to keep that and not see another board go down in flames
