Yeah, the challenge was beyond stupid. I can't even fathom what Bowles was thinking. The turtle he pulled at the end of the game was disappointing too. He played not to lose instead of playing to win. The bad call and Todd being afraid cost the team a gritty hard-fought game on a short week while dealing with injuries. Bad coaching in key moments.

The only reason I think Bowles made the challenge was to get an extended timeout to give the D a breather. Challenges normally take a couple minutes instead of just 1 minute for a regular timeout.

Agree with you there. Corn (his new nickname) shenanigans in the 2nd half of the Lions game almost cost us in that one too. He needs to stop being so conservative in the 2nd half of games.

I think this has more to do with Bowles telling Coen to be more conservative. It has been this way with three different OCs since Arians stepped down.

I think this has more to do with Bowles telling Coen to be more conservative. It has been this way with three different OCs since Arians stepped down.

IF that's the problem, then we need to move on from Bowles. I just don't know that it is. Leftwich was horrible as an OC on his own merit. Canales tried to force the run last year throughout the game, every game, so it's hard to judge that too. I personally thought that even in the Eagles game before the first half was over, his play calling was quite suspect.

I also don't think Coen is using his talent very well either. I think the packages, formations, and play calling could all be better.

Nix was 0-2 as a starter and completed just 46-of-77 passes for 384 yards, no touchdowns, and four interceptions. He added 60 rushing yards and a score, but the rushing success didn't make up for his shortcomings through the air in the two losses.

But Week 3 yielded much better results for the former Duck.
Not only did Nix avoid an interception for the first time this season, but he had his best numbers through the air as well as on the ground. He completed 25-of-36 passes for 216 yards and no touchdowns or interceptions, but he rushed for 47 yards and a score. He was much more comfortable and safe with the ball and he recorded his first career win as an NFL starting quarterback.
Nix's 85 passer rating was his best of the season by about 30 points and his QBR was also far above where it had been through the first two weeks as the Broncos took down an undefeated Tampa Bay team on the road

Bowles needs to learn to use timeouts for his defense when teams want to quickly run a 4th down play. Stop playing to protect a lead in a shootout as well. This defense is best when they attack like they did last week, not play soft zone like last night and against Denver.

Yeah, they may still have gotten the TD on the play, but I was screaming at my TV to take a timeout. That was a huge play and we should have prepared a defense for it not just allowed the defense to be gassed and disorganized.
