Last I heard Texans still wanted at least five assets with at least three first round picks in there. Doesn't seem like a good idea for the Bucs.
I think 2 1sts and 2 2nds is a good starting point.

Yet here Pedro cussed me out because I was pointing out that the lawyer and at least some of the women are just chasing the money.King Bootz wrote: ↑Fri Mar 11, 2022 6:14 pmThat's my point. The criminality of the case was always on shakey ground at best. Most women who are "sexually assaulted" want the perpetrator punished and behind bars. But none of these 22 women seem to care about that as long as they get paid. "Sexual assault" was always a stretch.Buc2 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 11, 2022 5:31 pm
This was just for possible criminal charges, so there was no cash up for grabs. The cash grab will be with the civil case which has yet to be heard. There is no grand jury required for a civil case to go to court. In fact, iirc, a judge has already said the civil case can proceed. Also, remember that the burden of proof is not as stringent in civil cases as it is in criminal cases.
Re: Who do you WANT to be the next QB?
As I was saying after Pedro said fuck at me several times, the prosecuting lawyer Buzzbee for the civil case had something like 3 complaints. He then contacted every masseuse that he saw communicated with Watson in instagram. How he does that, well I don't use instagram so I am not sure. In any case, he told them they could could file as Jane Doe, so they all did. Then the judge chastised him because he knew there was no such thing as Jane Doe in civil cases.Swashbuckler wrote: ↑Fri Mar 11, 2022 7:56 pm No charges? That's it? Someone fill me in, was ALL OF IT bullshit or did the lawyer make the charges magically disappear? Like if he REALLY didn't do it then get his ass over here and do it pronto. I don't give a shit what we give up
However, there was never any criminal cases against him. Buzzbee said that he gave his evidence to the police but sheriff's department refuted it. He then spun all the social media against Watson to spoil public perception. What happened was a grand jury heard the findings of 9 cases including the women being brought to the stand. They determined there was not enough evidence to prosecute. The people saying the civil suits are easier to get a conviction. I don't know. All you need for an indictment is for 9 out of 12 people to think a crime was committed. If you can't get 9 people to think he committed a crime, to me, that says if he fights these out he's going to win at least some of them.

This. I think Roethlisberger was suspended without regards to the criminal process. He's probably the best comp.real bucs fan wrote: ↑Fri Mar 11, 2022 11:14 pmJameis was suspended despite no charges…King Bootz wrote: ↑Fri Mar 11, 2022 8:32 pm

IMHO, there's no way Watson gets away with no league discipline. He'll either get 6 games or he'll get a season. Probably the first one since I'm sure he wants to help the Texans facilitate a trade, and that'll be impossible with a yearlong suspension hanging out there.

Do it DoM!“There are plenty of people in the Bucs organization who would aggressively pursue Deshaun Watson,” La Canfora tweeted on March 11. “Rival GMs believe they will be a factor in this.”
During the NFL Combine, Bucs head coach Bruce Arians sounded interested in Watson. Yet, Arians admitted that the team’s ownership would have to sign off on a potential Watson deal for it to have any chance of happening.
“It would strictly be organizational signoff,” Arians explained to ESPN’s Jenna Laine on March 1. “I’ve known the kid for a long time. I’m shocked that he’s in this situation. But that would be a strict organizational signoff.

All I'll say is, on THESE terms, Watson is attractive because he's young enough to survive a rebuild and come out the other end. Wilson (and others) would have been cooked by the time we'd been up to competing again. Watson will be 26 when the season starts.
Enough has been said about the other stuff.
Gonna dampen some hopes, though - if you know anything about Darcie, it's really tough to see her signing off on this.

Re: Who do you WANT to be the next QB?
The key turn of events in all of this is the grand jury decision. At this point it turns to he said, she said. The league does their own investigations and even they didn’t find enough to warrant him being placed on the commissioner’s list last season. He collected his full salary and didn’t have to show up. Burden of proof is much less in a civil matter, but even still there is a very fine line that has to be established that he did something wrong along the lines of “sexual assault”. Not enough to be charged for anything but enough to warrant a suspension? If you can establish that line, I’m all ears.MJW wrote: ↑Sat Mar 12, 2022 12:00 amThis. Re: Who do you WANT to be the next QB?
If Carolina wants Watson, and Watson is willing to go there, it’s a done deal. No team that Watson would want to go to can match that 6th overall pick.
Our best hope is Brady getting bored in retirement.

On a cheaper note, Bucs have also apparently poked around on Baker Mayfield.

Re: Who do you WANT to be the next QB?
He has the arm to play in Arians' system. he's probably a better option than Gabbert because you figure there's a modicum of upside in Baker still untapped. Both are good for 20+ picks in the risk-it offense, which is the problem. The system asks so much from the QB to push the ball while limiting turnovers. Only the elite can do it.
Downside: our o-line could be bad. Baker is still convinced he's mobile and will make a lot of mistakes scrambling around instead of eating a lesser sack or killing a ball. Baker's had good run games to lean on. Pretty unlikely in TB.

Re: Who do you WANT to be the next QB?
No thank you. There's a reason that despite investing the #1 overall pick in him, Cleveland still isn't sure if they want him around. Here's some fun:Snake wrote: ↑Sat Mar 12, 2022 10:21 pmHe has the arm to play in Arians' system. he's probably a better option than Gabbert because you figure there's a modicum of upside in Baker still untapped. Baker Mayfield:
60.5% Completed
18 TDs
13 INTs
3,010 Yards
7.2 YPA
QB X
60.6 % Completed
21 TDs
6 INTs
3271 Yards
7.0 YPA
QB X is Gardner Minshew's Rookie Season of 2019.
Also worth noting that Mayfield was playing behind a really good offensive line with a great running game.

Stuff like this only reinforces my gut feeling that he will be back in uniform this fall. Whether it's for us or someone else, that remains to be seen.
