I think there's a real chance Penn State wins simply because Oregon isn’t motivated. If Oregon loses they drop to 5. Honestly I’d rather be the 5th seed than the 1. I’m not saying Oregon isn’t going to try…but I wouldn’t expect the same intensity as they showed vs OSU or what PSU will show. The 5th seed is almost a bye to the semifinals while the 1 seed gets you Ohio State or Tennessee in the quarters.

The interest and ratings are up because it’s a bigger playoff and more games are now meaningful. No one is complaining about that part of the game. But having 20+ teams in one conference is stupid and it will get to a point where the SEC and probably Big 10 create their own league and tournament. And maybe it works out I don’t know. I hope it wouldn’t go that path because I’m an old school guy but I think college will move to more of an NFL model.

SMU is going to end up making life hard on the committee tonight. They’re going to have to decide if SMU should stay in top 12 if they get destroyed or have Bama pass them. Because Clemson appears to be on their way to causing some turmoil.

Also if PSU loses by 14+, they could end up dropping down to the 8th or 9th seed and playing Tennessee..not Ohio State.
