No QBs this year. They need to put as many positive talented pieces around this Trask/Baker combo and see what they’ve got. No excuses.

Ultimately, I imagine they’re hoping the former #1 overall can revive his career with a solid year and then you can go into 2024 with him on a franchise tag and another cheap year of Trask.

By then the books are clear.

Cheaply acquired there will be a QB on the practice squad.

With 2 trade downs I was ending up with a 1st and 2nd in the 2024 draft.

I was thinking of the Freeman comparison myself. We are picking right in the same exact spot we were in 2009 before trading up for Freeman. I see no reason to go after a mid 1st QB this year. This is a transition season at QB while we eat Brady’s dead cap money. We will have more options to go after a QB next year with some freed up money and what most assume will be a higher pick.

Just address the other spots of our roster and see what Mayfield and/or Trask can do for now. I don’t think we need a rookie QB that isn’t a true blue chip prospect right at this moment.

I’m watching Levis on this fine Sunday.

The processor doesn’t look great. Staring guys down waiting for them to get open.

Could Darnell Washington be the O.J. Howard we all wanted and the Gronk we so dearly missed?

Marvin Harrison Jr shouldn’t play another snap in college.

He’d go in the top 10 NOW.

No point to put on more film. Just prepare for the draft the next year.

He might as well go top 2 in 2024 draft

Like Keyshawn Johnson

He helped your boy CJ Stroud to possible first overall pick to Panthers… like Johnny Manizel-Micheal Evans combos you know the rest..

It is a bold strategy, but it worked for Ja'Marr Chase.

I say go for it.

Ringo is gonna get torched in the NFL. He’s a mega bust in the making imo. Will end up like this Ringo on Sunday’s.

I’m all for OL early and often, maybe an edge if one slips, but the focus should be the OL. Give Baker/Trask every opportunity to succeed, and if both fail, at least we should have a good situation for a rookie next year. Though do think Baker balls out for us…

Interesting to note though, from a pure meeting standpoint, the player we have the most interest in by far has been Hendon Hooker who we’ve met 5 times. Would be kind of shocking if he’s the man at 19.

Link?

Hendon Hooker would be to Canales as Trask was to Arians.
The skillset fit is there for the system, with some development and grooming, they could be the answer.

They’ve also met with TE Payne Durham 5 times. Damn, that’s fun to look at and then see what comes to fruition.

Seems to be not a lot of interest for offensive play makers.

I thought the same thing when I looked at that visit tracker, but it is misleading.

For them, a 1 is a combine interview, 2 is a pro day attendee, 3 is pro day plus combine, 4 is a private visit, 5 is a private visit plus any else of the above. In short, what a damned mess.

I prefer walterfootball's list: https://walterfootball.com/prospectMeetings/byteam

For those who don't want to click, the only two guys the Bucs have met with more than once are Henson Hooker the QB from Tennessee, and of all people Payne Durham, the tight end from Purdue.

I honestly think this guy is getting overhyped at this point. He's a really, really good RB prospect. He's not AD or Saquan.

Didn’t you hate Saquan??

He’s an amazing RB prospect. Up there with the best ever. He may not be quite as explosive as those two, but he’s more physical than Saquan and a better receiver than AD. He’s gonna be really friggin good. HOF type IMO.

I’m not even arguing for him, he’ll be long gone by 19.

But I hope I’m wrong.

I don't get it with him. At all. I see almost no tight window throws. Almost no progressions. Almost no anticipation throws. I see a lot of go balls that his receivers have to adjust to, though.

IMHO he's a poor man's Anthony Richardson, and I don't like Richardson for the same reasons. And Hooker is almost 5 years older and coming off an ACL.

There are quarterbacks I like in this class, for the record. But tbh drafting a quarterback right now is a terrible idea.

Nobody asked, but if you told me I HAD to draft a QB in this class, here's how I'd break it down:

1 (19) - Nobody. Although, like most things that turn out to be huge mistakes in my life, I could probably talk myself into Will Levis.
2 (50) - Nobody. Absolutely nobody.
3 (82) - Maybe Jaren Hall? It's a little rich for a backup type, but I think you'd be set at that spot for four cheap years.
5 (153) - Jake Haener. I really like him. I wouldn't be surprised if he goes a bit higher than this.
5 (175) - Aiden O'Connell. Pop-gun arm but blah blah blah Brock Purdy qualities.
6 (179) - Todd Centeio. I like the way he plays. I like the raw material to work with.
6 (181) - Malik Willis. If only for gadget plays.
6 (196) - Myles Brennan. I see great measurables and flaws that could be correctable.
7 (252) - Connor Degenhardt. You should watch his highlights.

CONNOR DEGENHARDT ISN'T A DEEP ENOUGH SLEEPER FOR YOU MDB?

Jesus, he went to New Haven. New Haven! The college you go to when you can't get recruited by UConn! I had literally never HEARD of New Haven until I came across this kid's name and watched him!
