Yeah wouldnt that be something, him not coming out next year if we had the number one. That would be speaking to our organization, our state, and our fans.

Re: The Official 2023 NFL Off-Season Thread
Whoa
Saints’ WR Michael Thomas may be released this offseason after agreeing to a restructured contract.
Thomas, 29, had his 2023 base salary reduced from $15.5 million to $1.165 million while adding a $31.755 million roster bonus that is due on March 17th, per NOF]].
There is also another $30M bonus included if Thomas is active for four games next season, which would cost the Saints more than $60M if he’s on their roster beyond March 17th, per NOF]].
Thomas was given a $902,941 signing bonus to sign the deal.
Here are the implications of the deal via NOF]]:
The restructure “lower’s Thomas’ cap number by about $14 million. And what it almost certainly means is that Thomas got cut on paper with the official move to follow. This is the same type of deal that Drew Brees and Malcolm Jenkins did before retiring.”
All things considered, it’s likely that Thomas’ tenure in New Orleans is coming to an end after seven seasons.
Thomas appeared in three games and caught 16 passes for 171 receiving yards and three touchdowns. He suffered a toe injury that forced him to miss the remainder of the season.

Could be a huge indication that they will try to keep Lamar.King Bootz wrote: ↑Thu Jan 19, 2023 8:55 am $275mil with $133 guaranteed is a joke( in relation to his peers)and they know it.
If I'm Lamar, I got to Harbaugh and ask him to get rid of Greg Roman and get an OC who runs a traditional system. He'll do just fine in that type of system. His weaknesses as a passer are no worse than guys like Josh Allen, Kyler Murray or Justin Herbert. He doesn't have the talent around him like they do and has been type cast because he's a top 1% athlete at the QB position.

Ravens fans are over the moon. To say the least. Huge outpouring of support for the move.

Thanks to @BucsNBills for making that terrifyingly realistic “Lamar to the Falcons” post (fucking asshole) I now need to pull for Lamar to stay in Baltimore. Just stay TF away from the South.King Bootz wrote: ↑Thu Jan 19, 2023 1:11 pmCould be a huge indication that they will try to keep Lamar.King Bootz wrote: ↑Thu Jan 19, 2023 8:55 am $275mil with $133 guaranteed is a joke( in relation to his peers)and they know it.

He's terrible. He tried to treat Lamar like he was Alex Smith or Colin Kaepernick. He's a far better passer than both of them and Roman never tried to expand upon Lamar's passing abilities.

Yep. Just as I thought. Lamar definitely had this on his list of things Baltimore needs to do.
For Baltimore, you'd want to find an OC who can utilize ALL of Lamar Jackson's tools as a QB for a more efficient, diverse offense and for his long term health.

More coordinator firings today. 5 of the 6 teams that lost Wildcard weekend fired at least 1 of their coordinators.

Re: The Official 2023 NFL Off-Season Thread
Joe Burrow is going to get ane extension this off season and I'm interested in the approach he'll take. He's the one QB that I think would be capable of thinking big picture and valuing his legacy more than just...having more money.
When you factor in both Tee Higgins and Chase are on the verge of getting paid, Burrow may have to choose between losing one of this receivers or paying himself more.
It would be hilarious if he said Fuck it...just pay me like $30 mil a year, fully guaranteed, and write me a $100 mil check right now. It would massively disrupt the QB market and allow the Bengals to spend more on the team, extending their window.
Of course it almost certainly won't happen, but it would be incredible if it did.

I don't care. Would be hilarious, and very smart on Burrow's part, if it did.

Burrow's agent would never allow that to happen. Agents work along side each other with the goal of securing their clients financial futures, at all levels.BucsNBills wrote: ↑Fri Jan 20, 2023 10:17 amI don't care. Would be hilarious, and very smart on Burrow's part, if it did.
Allowing a premium player to take less than market value disrupts the market as you explained. It would mess up hundreds on players in this league, including his own teammates. It would also in turn eventually have an impact on the salary cap value.
I get what you're saying, but it ain't happening.
Re: The Official 2023 NFL Off-Season Thread
This, and with the cap increasing each year, signing Burrow now to the highest paid QB salary ever is probably a great deal three years from now.

I just realized Schefter's tweet is inaccurate. O'Brien wasn't hired at Bama until after the National Championship game in 2021. So he and Mac Jones wouldn't have worked together as Mac skipped his senior year to go pro.

This is fantastic.
Re: The Official 2023 NFL Off-Season Thread
I’d pay good money to follow an owner and FO around during a HC search. Seriously.
Re: The Official 2023 NFL Off-Season Thread
I have a feeling Reich will turn the team around, but I am shocked the interim coach did not get the gig with the job he did.
