Re: ***Official 2024 Draft Thread!!***
I don't have the patience to study game film for the draft. Thank you to all who do. However, the week or two heading up to the draft, mocks seem to know our GM pretty well. Well most, some still have left field picks like us drafting a safety in the first round this year. Every year it comes down to two positions. In 2017 it was down to Dalvin Cook and David Njoku. Unfortunately, OJ Howard fell to us
I have looked at way too many mock drafts and it seems that 50% have us taking an edge (Verse, Latu, Chop) followed by 35% a center (Barton or JPJ). My guess is if 3 are gone by 20, he will move up. If 4 of them go before our pick, he might do a Wirfs to prevent someone moving in front of us. If there are two when pick, he will try to move back. That has been his MO and I expect the same this year

Using this crazy stuff, I did a draft using as much of this as I could. Our best options when we pick would be WR Adonai Mitchell, Edge Laiatu Latu, OC JPJ, CB Nate Wiggins, and OG Graham Barton if all of this is more true than not

[/The Atlanta Falcons have "interest" in Washington QB Michael Penix Jr.
Head Coach Raheem Morris and General Manager Terry Fontenot visited Penix for a private workout in Seattle and left impressed.
The Falcons own the 8th overall pick and the 43rd pick in the first 2 rounds.

Re: ***Official 2024 Draft Thread!!***
Did we really need the Cadillac reminder? We also passed over Adrian Peterson for Gaines Adams because Cadillac was on the roster. Ugh. Effing Gruden. Thanks for the Super Bowl, but good God he was awful at building a roster.
Re: ***Official 2024 Draft Thread!!***
I don't think injuries should label you as a bust.
Re: ***Official 2024 Draft Thread!!***
Agreed. Cadillac Williams was a good pick at the time and he won Offensive Rookie of the Year for a reason. Not his fault.
Would we be drafting him again with perfect hindsight? Of course not. If we knew how guys would turn out, every team in retrospect probably would have drafted somebody different, even pillars of their team. For example, I doubt we would have drafted Mike Evans if we knew what Aaron Donald would have become.
The only recent Bucs first rounder I think we would still draft if we had a crystal ball knowing how things would turn out would be Tristan Wirfs. I don't think there's a guy drafted after him in his class I'd rather have.
Re: ***Official 2024 Draft Thread!!***
For positional value, absolutely. But it would be some fun debates as to whether you'd rather have Wirfs or CeeDee Lamb/Justin Jefferson.

Re: ***Official 2024 Draft Thread!!***
My buddy is really talking up Owen Glascoe, TE Long Island U. I was looking him up and many places seem to have him as a PFA after the draft, but he kept insisting he will be drafted high in the draft. I think stumbled upon an article on CBS Sports where they compare him to Mark Andrews. When I mentioned this to my friend he was saying that he will be a top tight end but since he was a RB in the Wildcat and played wide a lot that his draft stock will fall compared to Andrews, but should be a day two pick. Anyone hear about the FCS kid?

My brother will be over the moon.
Adam Schefter asked JJ McCarthy on his podcast what it would be like if he ended up on the #vikings.
“It would be the world … Coach O’Connell. He’s a guy that I’d run through a brick wall for. Everything that he wants to do with a football team, is something I think want to be a part of,” McCarthy said to Adam Schefter when asked to give his two cents on Minnesota. The QB’s statement gives rise to wild speculation – McCarthy pulling an Eli Manning move to secure a future with coach Kevin O’Connell and Co.

Just looked Emory up, so this was after all my ramblins about Jalen Coker. He gets to him somewhere in the middle of the video talking about how he could be this years Puka.
Re: ***Official 2024 Draft Thread!!***
I'm older than Emory so I'm glad he took up my way of thinking.

He use to come in and post his breakdowns on Larryland.

He's doing CBS now? Maybe helping Trapasso how to do a mock draft.

I'm fine with Ladd McConkey in the second round.
Re: ***Official 2024 Draft Thread!!***
Although I love Brock Bowers a lot, we still have several positions to address, such as OL, DE, CB, and RB. Therefore, moving up in the draft is not a option
Re: ***Official 2024 Draft Thread!!***
It does bring up philosophical questions about roster construction. Should you try to fill every roster “hole” every offseason?
Where should a team tolerate replacement level players?
