Yeah. An under reported aspect of the collapse on defense were Dean and Merriweather's injuries. Forcing Zyon back to outside corner and Neal onto the field.

That responsibility wouldn't happen in that defense. It was a cherry picked critism and an incorrect one.

White just stood there waiting to tweet that we dumbass fans don't know what the super special defense was.
To be fair the non dumbass fans also don't know.

Especially with Baker. It's been well documented (as an excuse, usually) that he's never had it. I want to see what happens when he does. Time to put up.

He did have continuity. In all of 2020 and 2021 he had Stefanski as his HC and Van Pelt as his OC. He regressed in his 2nd year.

A surprise! The #Panthers are closing in on a deal to hire #Bucs OC Dave Canales as their new head coach, sources say. A first-time coordinator, his work in Tampa this year — especially with Baker Mayfield — stood out.

How about Tee Martin or Kellen Moore as OC?

Edit: Never mind. Thad Lewis

I am positive that all signs are pointing to the fact that the Buccaneers will hire an OC. Which one? Who the fuck knows. They took a long time last season and it turned out OK,... but the suspense is like old-time ketchup bottles in a world of squeeze bottle condiments.

A lateral move for a guy he only coached with for a year, after having ties to Arians and Bowles for years? Ouch.

With him we've routinely had the worst run game in football.

Seconded. We just lost our OC and WR coaches to promotions, which ain't great for us but good for them. However, losing multiple other coaches in lateral hires to a division rival? That stings.

For those keeping score at home, our current offensive staff is Thadeus Lewis (QBs), Skip Peete (RBs) and John Van Dam (TEs). That's it. Presumably an outside OC would bring in his guys, but still.

Canales is/was a leader. They’re following.

Bowles said he expected his entire staff back unless they received promotions. Whoops.

Think for a second guys, given the choice to work for a coach who shows passion, love for the game and invests into the team. Hell yeah, I want to work for that coach.

Am I mad that the coaches of our shit run game and Oline are gone? Not exactly.

Bowles fired most of the offensive staff last season but kept those 2 because as he put it there wasn't a megastar to fill their roles and they were worth salvaging.

Goodwin has been "run game coordinator" here since 2019 and we've yet to establish an even decent run game. Gilbert has also been here since 2019 and all we've talked about is how outside of Wirfs how replaceable everybody is.

We can and will do better.

Kinda looks like the coaches who left feel that Canales has a better chance to be successful than Bowles. (or at least he is more secure -- which given the Panther's recent history is saying something)
