Has anyone on this or other boards been rumored for a HC or GM job? I know I haven't because I don't have the expertise. But I would encourage anyone here who thought they had the expertise to throw their hat into the ring.

I think they'd cut off my microphone after I told them my plan to Moneyball the NFL by not paying traditional QBs or wideouts and instead adopt a 100% option offense.

Didn't people want him because he coached Trask in college? Maybe they'll make a trade for Trask if he's hired, right?

I get contacted every year for a head coaching job, but I stopped wanting to coach my local pee-wee team years ago. :-)

Basically the contract they had signed him to named him HC in waiting.

I assume we did the same with Arians & Bowles.

Glad this is working out for him. I felt bad when Rich Bisaccia did not get the gig after producing similar results. Bisaccia has still not gotten that opportunity.

I followed Pierce closely at ASU. Elite personality/recruiter guy. They brought Marvin Lewis in to help him with X’s and O’s as DC.

I don’t think you’re hiring him for scheming or expertise. You’re hiring him because you believe he’s an elite motivator and quality CEO.

He was let go from ASU for recruiting violations a couple years ago. No one has fallen upwards so quickly.

Patriots hire Mayo. What a completely boring move. And what about all the DiVerSiTy interviews that every team has to do??? I guess that doesn't mean anything when the coaches skin color happens to have more melanin in it????

Edit: And with that, we're up to 4 black coaches in the league. Representation has been achieved!!!! What happens now?? Figured there would at least be some neat fireworks to watch or something once the millionaire blacks in the NFL stopped being oppressed.

Patriots fans seem divided, if not leaning towards disappointed in Mayo being the hire. Consistent themes are:

- everyone on the planet knows Belichick had his hand involved in every defensive decision that was made during his time there. How much was Mayo doing? Probably a lot, but he was splitting DC duties with one of Belichick’s kids as recently as last season.
- Mayo has long been seen as heir apparent. And has been described as “Mini Belichick.” if you’re seeking a big culture change, it’s unlikely that you’re gonna get it.
- they don’t have a GM yet. Hiring the coach before hiring the GM is a tough move. Some believe that they’re going to promote internally at GM. Sometimes new voices, external voices are the answer.
- if you’re hiring internal for all of the crucial positions…. your coach will be a downgrade because everyone is a downgrade from Belichick. You’re hoping that new personnel people will fix the problems.

Chargers, easily for me.

They have the most important pieces in place, a division that is seemingly up for grabs with how KC has been, and great weather. Ownership and taxes don’t seem to be great, but I think the pros far outweigh the cons.

Commanders job would be my pick as a new HC. No more Snyder, tons of cap space and most importantly they have the #2 pick in a 2 QB draft.

Chargers job should theoretically be the most ready to win now because of Herbert, but I think their roster is overrated and needs work and you essentially need to win immediately if you take this job.

Seattle IMO 1-53 is better than every other team here. Right mixture of veterans and young players.

Chargers roster is old, beat up and expensive. They are $35mil over the salary cap.

Washington is intriguing but they are closer to rebuilding than competing.
