You’ve bounced around the league over and over and been in countless crappy situations.

You finally had a “good” season in Tampa and have an opportunity to play another with the same group of guys. You can continue to grow and hopefully resurrect your career, maybe win something.

You’re going to leave that for more money elsewhere?

No way dude
And unless they're drastically low-balling him there's no way anyone else is going to offer more.

I think this is accurate about Mayfield's contract
Whatever team ends up signing Baker Mayfield in free agency, the average annual salary of his new deal is going to dwarf the $4 million he played for with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2023.
Per Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio, there is a sense that Mayfield's contract will be in the range of $30-35 million per season.
This article will be updated soon to provide more information and analysis.

Pewter Report claiming that Bakers camp was asking for 44 mil with he Bucs offering 25. Meeting in the middle would be 35, which I wouldn’t mind. If Baker is actively seeking 44 mil, I’m hesitant.

Baker isn't taking a discount to be here. 25 to 44 is a lot of ground to cover. I don't know if OBP is willing to go up $10mil on their offer. If that's the case, get Russell Wilson's agent on the phone as soon as the FA period begins.

According to Scott Reynolds of Bucswire Baker and the Bucs are far from reaching a contract extension. Damn

I guess I'm fine with that since there are plenty of quarterbacks available.

Looks like Baker will be sitting beside his phone on March 11th waiting for phone calls.

44M/year for Baker F'ing Mayfield....yuck. If we give him anywhere close to that, we deserve all the bad things that happen to us.

If Mayfield is actively seeking $44M (and won't budge), he'll never take another snap again in the NFL.

Agreed, I would offer 44 million to Kirk Cousins.

Depends on how much money and who he would be playing with.

I have no idea and don't claim to know where he might end up but I'd be a liar if I said I didn't want him back. I've seen enough QB carousel

If Mayfield is actively seeking $44M (and won't budge), he'll never take another snap again in the NFL.
If he wants $44 mil per year, he's gonna have to earn it with incentives.

I"m as big a Baker Mayfield fan as anyone, and nobody is giving him $44M per year. If that's the asking price I'm all for letting him test the market and then he can come back to us with his tail between his legs.

I feel more comfortable giving that money to Cousins, as he has consistently demonstrated his worth through his strong performance each year. My only worry is his ACL injury.

Let me ask you this. Do you prefer Mayfield over Cousins, if so, why?

I'm pretty sure Evans is ecstatic about possibly
Kirk Cousins as his quarterback.

Maybe Evans knew when he signed his contract that the Bucs were planning on making a big move for Cousins.

Yeah, who knows. If Cousins is going to Atlanta as the rumors suggest, the Falcons are the real threat to win the NFC South. I'm not concerned on the Saints.

Remember way back before #13 signed his extension? When the word about town was that he was going to test free agency? And a group of twats that should know better were kvetching and wringing their hands?
Sound familiar?

I'm curious, is Minnesota just a mediocre team or is Kirk Cousins? He has done nothing in his long career to suggest it. His best season in Washington was 9-7. After we left we saw that was mostly Washington, but he has had 1 10 win and 1 13 win season in Minnesota. The last two that had 13 win seasons was Keenum ffs after Bridgewater was hurt in the second game of that season. Minnesota is one team I definitely pay no attention to

Yeah, ultimately I think Baker signs. I'm still very confident there's no way Mike re-signs if he isn't 99% sure who the QB is going to be. The Bucs/Baker are just ironing out details.

IF he were to go elsewhere we would be drafting someone EARLY to pair with Trask and then going from there.

Everytime I hear this stuff I picture Tom staring at the ground on the bench - clearly frustrated. Put the pic up youngster.

I watch all Vikings games. Kirk is very good and underrated league wide. He was playing at an MVP level last year prior to his injury. The Vikings can't block up the middle and lack talent on defense. When they won all those games before Kirk got there it was because Zimmer had that defense playing lights out. Ever since Kirk got there the defense went downhill due to age and primarily investing in offense through the draft.

This team is better with Cousins or Wilson

This team doesn’t miss a beat with Baker or Trask

This team is worse with a rookie (likely worse, temporarily) or most every other free agent

All comes down to price

I've got to think this 45 mill number is a negotiation number used by Bakers agent.
