Paying Dean was so stupid last year. You cant pay both your starting corners like that when neither are elite. It looks even worse now when we have no pass rush but are paying corners. Hopefully we move off one of the corners and can better invest that money.

Completely disagree. One, we absolutely could and did pay both corners like that. Two, these are all moving pieces. Every year looks different. You reform yourself to the landscape.

We have developed the heck out of our CBs from Davis to Dean to Zyon. And good thing too. We could very well move on from Davis. Now all of the sudden we've got two pretty darn good starting CBs costing a total of $16M a year for both this year and next. And we can move on from Dean after this year as well if we need be, but more than not we'll likely keep him while developing his eventual replacement as well.

Going out on a limb here, but I'm thinking that when the odds makers release their futures bets, the Falcons will be the odds on favorite to win the NFC South. Like some idiots here, I too will still drop a few dollars on the Bucs to win.

It would be one thing if we asked our corners to lock up man-to-man and be the biggest swinging dicks on defense. Dean and CD3 are the 10th and 12th highest paid guys at their position, and if their play was commensurate with their salaries I doubt anyone would complain. If they were edges, we would expect them to be top of the league in sacks. Borderline probowlers, these guys should be.

But both CD3 and Dean are just okay, and they're consistently asked to drop-and-chase, which you don't need to pay elite corners to do.

I mean, what do I know, but still. Seems like an odd way to use resources.
