His chances of winning the Heisman are skyrocketing!
stay tuned for tomorrow game!
Arch Manning will officially get the Week 4 start for No. 1 Texas.
Longhorns coach Steve Sarkisian said Thursday that the redshirt freshman would be his starting quarterback. Manning played in relief of Quinn Ewers in a 56-7 Week 3 win over UTSA. Ewers left the game in the second quarter with an ab strain and had been considered questionable this week.
It’s unsurprising that Texas would play it safe with Ewers given the opponent on Saturday. The Longhorns are a 44.5-point favorite at home against Louisiana-Monroe.
Well, if Mayfield plays out his contract, the timing would fit.
Grandpa wants him to play for Dallas.
Timing would work for that too. I'm assuming Manning plays at least 2 seasons and Prescott has 3 left on his deal. Dallas could draft Manning in 2027 and let him sit behind Dak for 1 year, then cut (or trade), Dak with a year left on his deal an only take a $7M cap hit.
Can't imagine why anyone would WANT to play for Dallas though.
Well, if Mayfield plays out his contract, the timing would fit.
Are you going to have a meltdown when Mayfield gets extended after the season?
I knew that was happening after I saw the terms of his initial contract. You can't operate a team properly when you have meh QB with voidable years. I've already accepted we are pretenders while he's here, I'm just trying to help you guys accept that reality.
The extension, for that reason is a good thing. It makes cutting him easier, in a couple years.

It's kind of wild that Arch Manning is as close to a guarantee as you'll ever see.
Every QB in that family has been HoF/borderline HoF. That lineage just plays QB at a high level. Solid chance of getting Eli Manning or better.
Archie, Peyton, and Eli will all tell you that unequivocally, Cooper was the most talented of the 3. I can believe that Arch could be great. That said, I don't see us getting the #1 pick in April 2027.

I’ve only see a handful of guaranteed things in my 18-ish years of doing this.
And he ain’t one of them.
and he's only a "guarantee" because of his family line.
He hasn't played enough to garner that reputation
that being said, I was happy as hell when they didn't bring him in on that last goal line series.
I mean imagine growing up and you have every male in the manning family teaching you everything there is to being a QB. I’m sure that kid has been coached religiously from the womb from some of the best to ever do it. That kind of teaching is invaluable. Id say growing up under manning will teach the kid more about football and being a QB than he would ever learn through any coaching elsewhere. Take the most elite qb coaching in the country and id take being manning’s son over it any day.
And the fact the bloodline keeps spitting out talent gives me confidence in its continuity.
Manning threw four touchdowns in under five minutes, which is far better than your OSU quarterback. You’ve been criticizing Manning since he first joined college football and Texas. Weird
