After throwing out the first pitch, she gave him a good luck charm she made. An autographed softball. He put it in the dugout and told her he would try to do something special. He then unleashes that monster - hits the D-Ring.

Too cool.

That softball will be well traveled over the next 157.

I mean, can anyone other than Franco play some baseball please?

But on that topic..... Franco. Holy crap. Somebody should keep an eye on this guy. I think he might be something.

I was thinking the same thing. It's probably not true, but damn if it doesn't seem that way. The team is just so streaky and always has been. They can score 27 times, or they can strike out 27 times. It's an either/or.

Can we please trade KK?!?!? He is what he is, a very good fielder, but a horrible, horrendous "hitter." He's essentially the AL equivalent of the 9-hole pitcher at bat. Oh..and he also gets injured, too.

And of course he plants one over the fence. I hate when he fancies himself a power hitter.

Yup...but his other at bats, he looked (and always does) lost. He's the Jameis of CFs. Moments of brilliance, but you know what he is and you (we) shouldn't be afraid to move on!

Dang. Takes them 13 innings to do it, but the O's snap a 15 game losing streak to the Rays.

I’m sure he reads the board and that motivated him. Give it 24 hours, he‘ll be back to 0-4 with 2k and 3 LOB… as an average night.

Hey...I'm a Rays fan, but that should have been an error, no. Either way, it's good to see KK being a productive member of the offense...while it lasts.

Right now, KK is one of the only guys keeping the offense going. Wander has been in a major slump and is dealing with injuries. Arozerena hasn’t really gotten going so far this year. Ji Man is finally back healthy and is starting to heat up. He still gets on base at a good rate. KKs offense has been much needed and hopefully he keeps it up while our better players are in their slumps.

Wander should have gone on the DL. This day-to-day crap isn't helping anyone.

Since KK's "heater" (which only lasted five games, btw), he is 3 for 36, an amazing .083 BA. End of heater he was batting .255 w/ .757 OPS (MLB avg. OPS this season is .700). He's gone back to being normal KK and is now hitting .207/.602 OPS.

For me, he's falling in to the anybody but Kiermaier territory.

He seems to be a great teammate and a positive locker room presence, but can't we flip him for a SS?

I get it, but you can't discount stuff like what happened last night. He didn't produce any runs for the Rays, but he damn sure subtracted one from the Cardinals.

For those wanting to get Nerdy: https://www.baseball-reference.com/play ... ke01.shtml

Maybe batting him 1, or 9, or 4, is messing him up? Keep him in the 9 hole and let that be a given out, maybe? Hitting cleanup yesterday made no sense whatsoever.

Kevin Keirmaier has single handedly taken away more scoring chances than anyone in MLB for a stupid amount of time. He's an integral part of the Rays system. A big reason why the franchise can win low scoring games and limit explosive offenses in clutch series/moments.

And he sucks at the plate.

I'm much happier with a +++ defender/---- hitter that's a widely acknowledged clubhouse leader than some of the alternatives being floated.

Has "The Relay" been so quickly forgotten?

That's absolutely elite defensive play by KK. From the jump, to the read, to the throw. Stole a run away on a play that very few CFs can make.

AND... he sucks at the plate.

I'll take his platinum glove defense and poor offense over damn near any option out there.
