Who me? I never said Michigan would be ranked ahead of TCU or OSU. Just wouldn’t be surprised if it happened based on past precedent. The fact TCU is no 2 suggests no matter who and how you lose NC, you end up 2. And semi teams go 3 and 4.Phantom wrote: ↑Tue Jan 10, 2023 9:43 pm you were saying.. Snake?? Navy?
OSU over Michigan? haha

Re: NCAA football 2022
TCU #2 = full ratard
Re: NCAA football 2022
TCU had a good argument to be in playoff based on resume, but based on talent….no. I think we would all agree Bama would have made the perfect final 4. Which again brings up the whole do we choose the best teams or the best resume?
But that all goes away in 2024. No one is really gonna care about #12 vs -#13 or #14. The expanded playoff will appease more people.

Oh shitThe Chicago Bears will name Big Ten Conference commissioner Kevin Warren as their president and CEO, sources confirmed to ESPN.
I hope the new commissioner will try so hard to get Notre Dame to join the conference
Re: NCAA football 2022
Unsurprising move from an incompetent franchise.
Re: NCAA football 2022
I doubt they would commit to anything because nobody knows what conferences are going to look like anymore. Two years ago, the looked like a lock to join the ACC, but that would have been a mistake.
Re: NCAA football 2022
Christ already.
4 Superconferences.
Each with 2 divisions.
Top 2 in each division go to an 16 team playoff.
Every playoff game a "Bowl" of some sort.
Just get on with it.

And can we not call them directional names, you know, like having Mizzou in the SEC wouldn't make much sense, or Pitt in the ACC.

Remember that Herbert did this
Re: NCAA football 2022
It all started with Sam Keller going to war with EA. It's the closest thing we've had to relevance in 20 years here in Lincoln.
BTW, Levis ahead of Bryce Young? I wouldn't put a wooden nickel on that at 20/1, 10/1, or 100/1. The Paxton Lynch is HUGE with Levis.

Agreed about Levis. He doesn't pass the sniff test at all in what games I saw of his.
Re: NCAA football 2022
Re: NCAA football 2022
A Cheb-Snake-MJW triple agreement - Levis ain't it.
I want to stand up for Richardson in theory, because I think you draft for what a guy CAN do, not necessarily what he's done. But Jesus, now that I've delved into his play, Richardson is a goddamn mess. He's Josh Freeman with an absolute allergy to playing in the pocket.

Re: NCAA football 2022
This QB class is ugly after the top 2. I've been digging for a guy to suggest in the mid/late rounds and I am NOT finding him. They're all either popgunners or mechanical messes. The Bucs need to sit this one out. Bring in a UDFA or two. But so far not one guy I'm using a pick on.
The one guy I do find MILDLY interesting is Malik Cunningham, just as a gadget guy.

Re: NCAA football 2022
Agree…maybe top 3. I think Young, Stroud and Levis could all be good, but all they’ll be gone after pick 7. Stroud showed me a lot the way he played against a top D with future NFL players (Georgia).MJW wrote: ↑Sun Jan 22, 2023 7:30 am This QB class is ugly after the top 2. 2024 is a better qb class. I like Caleb Williams and Drake Maye a lot. S. Sanders and Jayden Daniels out there. A lot of good potential deep picks too like Sam Hartman, JJ McCarthy and Michael Penix who I think all have sneaky good NFL potential if they land with the right coach.
As for next year, I was all in with Brady staying and us drafting Mayer to supplant Gronk unless Gronk comes back. But if no Brady, I think we should look at LT and LG and go with a short term qb solution and draft in 2024. But if Brady comes back, we need a playmaker at TE. I’m sorry but Otton is not it. And Brate sure as hell ain’t it. TE was a huge drop off from 2021.

Re: NCAA football 2022
I hope Colorado wins it all in 2024 or so..
Deion Sanders has made it abundantly clear that he and Colorado “are coming,” meaning that the Buffaloes are going to make a splash. That is certainly the case with the two newest additions to the staff, assuming that they come to fruition.
Earlier this week, Coach Prime joined Thee Pregame Show to discuss the key steps he has taken to get his vision established in Boulder. In doing so, he revealed that Willie Taggart and Mike Zimmer are set to coach Colorado in 2023.
Re: NCAA football 2022
I’m rooting for Colorado. They used to be a powerhouse back in the 90s. Remember those Orange Bowl games with Notre Dame…especially the classic Rocket punt return called back because of clipping that gave Colorado the Natl title.
But the PAC 10 needs help…losing USC and UCLA, they need to hold on to Colorado, Utah and Oregon and hope they hang with the big boys or the PAC 10 will keep crumbling and lose more teams.

College Football Executives Considering Four Changes to Shorten Games
https://www.si.com/college/2023/02/20/c ... game-rulesHigh-ranking college football leaders have been reviewing four specific changes to clock rules, two of which are considered non-controversial, one that has garnered wide support and a fourth that has left some divided.
The non-controversial proposals include (1) prohibiting consecutive timeouts (ie, icing kickers) and (2) no longer extending a first or third quarter for an untimed down if the quarter ends on a defensive penalty (the down would be clocked starting the next quarter).
While those are considered to be incremental changes that will save only a fraction of time, the other two proposals are more significant.
In a third proposal that is garnering wide support, the clock will continue to run after an offense gains a first down except inside of two minutes in a half. In a more controversial fourth proposal, the clock will continue to run after an incomplete pass once the ball is spotted for play.

Re: NCAA football 2022
Agreed, I mean Washington, Oregon and Stanford are big schools with good exposure. Do you think they want to stay in PAC 12 after UCLA and USC left? It’s no secret they want to join Big Ten and it will happen anytime soon
It’s time for SEC to raid some of ACC schools like Clemson, North Carolina, FSU and both of Virginia school
Maybe Duke?
