Rapid Reactions Week 3: 34-24 Loss @ Los Angeles Rams
Rapid Reactions Week 3: 34-24 Loss @ Los Angeles Rams
Our secondary is paper thin, our line can't finish sacks, and we still can't run the ball.
Brady is a god though, but he can't save every situation.

Apologies to Matthew Stafford. I thought he was a completely useless QB. He looked like a league MVP today.

Go right to Dean to set the tone and drop an int thrown straight to him.

Defense had a bad game , it happens. Hopefully it’s a wake up call for the defense .
Special teams wasn’t great
Winfield and White are not playing great right now

Re: Rapid Reactions Week 3: 34-24 Loss @ Los Angeles Rams
context: first loss in eleven straight games; it was bound to happen eventually.
also context: the defensive front seven has regressed significantly and needs to be addressed urgently or this will be a long season.
if we had dominated the cowboys and falcons, today’s game gets chalked up to west coast travel and a 10-game winning streak finally coming to an end. no big deal. unfortunately, this is not the case and this team has serious concerns.

Re: Rapid Reactions Week 3: 34-24 Loss @ Los Angeles Rams
What is the biggest issue with the defense, aside from injuries to the secondary?
Is it age? Is it complacency? Regression to the mean?

this is more frustrating than the poor play by the bucs. because our D didn’t show up at all, we now get a week of “stafford is the next coming of joe montana.” jeez.RamItUpDaBuc wrote: ↑Sun Sep 26, 2021 7:49 pmHe's got a squad now bro. Yeah, in Detroit he had to play with bums like Calvin Johnson, Golden Tate, Marvin Jones, Nate Burleson, Kenny Golladay, TJ Hockenson and Eric Ebron. Just to name a few.RamItUpDaBuc wrote: ↑Sun Sep 26, 2021 7:49 pmHe's got a squad now bro. Watch him light it up.King Bootz wrote: ↑Sun Sep 26, 2021 7:33 pm Apologies to Matthew Stafford. We were out-played, plain and simple. Having SMB and JPP would have helped some, but probably wouldn't have turned the tide.
Defense really got exposed.
Stafford wasn't pressured at all. Give Jameis Winston time like that, he'll pick you apart. Stafford was ballin'.
God, I hate Cooper Kupp.

Dude, those are only receivers. The defense, online, running games, coaches he had in Detroit were bad. Now he has a complete squad. Offense defense and coaches. It's not all on him like it was in Detroit bro.Max wrote: ↑Sun Sep 26, 2021 7:55 pmYeah, in Detroit he had to play with bums like Calvin Johnson, Golden Tate, Marvin Jones, Nate Burleson, Kenny Golladay, TJ Hockenson and Eric Ebron. Re: Rapid Reactions Week 3: 34-24 Loss @ Los Angeles Rams
The lack of production from the pass rush was key. Did JPP make that much of a difference?
I still believe the secondary will be good enough when we get SMB and Dean healthy but only if we can start getting pressure again.

Re: Rapid Reactions Week 3: 34-24 Loss @ Los Angeles Rams
It took a bit for our defense to find its groove last year as well. Season is still early. They got time to get it together. We really need some secondary help (see: depth) and the lack of a pass rush is a bit concerning. But like I said: still a bit early and we're still 2-1.
Also, Jamel Dean sucks.

Hard to argue with that. He never had protection in Detroit like he has in LA. And McVay is a top 5 coach in this league.RamItUpDaBuc wrote: ↑Sun Sep 26, 2021 7:49 pmHe's got a squad now bro. I've repeatedly said how important JPP is to the defense. We needed him out there today. No one was making the most of their 1 on 1s. The defense is hurt. Let's sign Shermon, I'm for it. The work ethic fits in with the team. No more undefeated nonsense. Sigh.
We need to get better. We're still not in full swing. That's alright, there's plenty of football left.

Gotta get guys healthy. We will see them again and will be better. Gave me New Orleans vibes with how arrogant they were. It's week 3 not the NFC Championship. Bucs will remember.

unless sherman can rush the qb, it won’t matter.Doctor wrote: ↑Sun Sep 26, 2021 8:00 pm I've repeatedly said how important JPP is to the defense. We needed him out there today. weird how we’re not in full swing when the rest of the nfl seems to be.
Re: Rapid Reactions Week 3: 34-24 Loss @ Los Angeles Rams
I understand the issue. My question was with regards to the cause, because this wasn't an issue last year.
Is the front seven just older, complacent, or have they regressed to the mean? Maybe they're playing against better lines? Let's hear it.
Re: Rapid Reactions Week 3: 34-24 Loss @ Los Angeles Rams
Of course, it’s been everybody else’s fault. Heard that story before.RamItUpDaBuc wrote: ↑Sun Sep 26, 2021 7:58 pmDude, those are only receivers. How often were the Pats off to rough starts only to crush it? We're down a lot of guys. We played a tough team. We weren't the best team today. It happens.

Re: Rapid Reactions Week 3: 34-24 Loss @ Los Angeles Rams
Oh god, I just realized that with this game done, we're officially in Pats week.
Cue the 10 billion articles coming out about the storylines.
I don't even want to imagine the warped headlines if we lose against them.

it’s a good question; i asked a similar one in the game thread. i don’t have an answer yet but will watch the all-22 and look for answers.
theoretically, the front seven should be better at this point by having a healthy vea consume double teams and push the o-line into the qb’s feet, freeing shaq, jpp, suh, gholston, roches, et al.

Re: Rapid Reactions Week 3: 34-24 Loss @ Los Angeles Rams
No matter what else happens, Brady will become the all time leading passer in this game unless he gets hurt. That is going to be the story.
Re: Rapid Reactions Week 3: 34-24 Loss @ Los Angeles Rams
Wasn’t a great showing. The secondary can’t be leaned on at all. Few can. Ours is a liability. The lack of pass rush is concerning. As many have stated. Curious what @Cheb saw in person.
I’m also wondering if we’re not far from some teams abandoning the run entirely. It’s a fucking afterthought.

I’m not worried going forward. The regular season is just preparation for the playoffs. We will be fine.
The defense needs to figure it out. We need some guys to get healthy and other guys to fucking play.

Is anyone doing in depth breakdowns this season? I would love to know what exactly was going wrong out there

Frankly, their lines beat our lines; and a depleted secondary vs a healthy one tells the story of the game.
Kudos, Rams fans.
Bowles needs to stop trying to be the smartest guy in the room.

The defense is broken right now. The backfield is injury-plagued, but the front four can't seem to get meaningful pressure on the QB. They need to get healthy and they need to make some adjustments. Big game next week. Not just for Brady's return but I do not want to see this team fall to .500.

This team needed a punch in the mouth. I know Arians says you can’t learn any more from losses than close wins, but I disagree. Sometimes you need to see that your effort will bring you a loss.

Watch.
There's some crazy stat from Detroit about how many games they gave up over 31 points with him at QB.
The narrative has always been he's an elite talent that puts up good to great numbers, but doesn't win.
His supporters say it was terrible talent around him and detractors blame it on him
It seems like you're stuck on wanting to be correct, but this is who Stafford was in Detroit and it's why McVay traded Goff plus picks to get him.
