Yep. Stanford is a damn good QB and always has been.uscbucsfan wrote: ↑Sun Sep 26, 2021 8:28 pmHe's a 25 and 10 guy, even with shit blocking and talent around him.
There's some crazy stat from Detroit about how many games they gave up over 31 points with him at QB.
The narrative has always been he's an elite talent that puts up good to great numbers, but doesn't win.
His supporters say it was terrible talent around him and detractors blame it on him
It seems like you're stuck on wanting to be correct, but this is who Stafford was in Detroit and it's why McVay traded Goff plus picks to get him.

That’s always a factor. No doubt.
And McVay’s teams are usually towards the bottom in penalties committed stat. Every part of that offense in particular is surgical in its execution.

Vea isn’t getting doubled. He’s not enough of a pass rush threat to warrant double teams. Offense have realized that. Also what’s happening more often is our edge rushers are dropping into coverage more often early this year to combat QBs getting the ball out quickly to the perimeter. Those free rushers we counted on so heavily last year? They aren’t there this year.vivalaReagan wrote: ↑Sun Sep 26, 2021 8:11 pmit’s a good question; i asked a similar one in the game thread. i don’t have an answer yet but will watch the all-22 and look for answers.
theoretically, the front seven should be better at this point by having a healthy vea consume double teams and push the o-line into the qb’s feet, freeing shaq, jpp, suh, gholston, roches, et al.

Front 4? What are you smoking?13F11B wrote: ↑Sun Sep 26, 2021 8:26 pm The defense is broken right now. The backfield is injury-plagued, but the front four can't seem to get meaningful pressure on the QB. They need to get healthy and they need to make some adjustments. Big game next week. Not just for Brady's return but I do not want to see this team fall to .500.

Some of his calls - especially when we’re in favorable down and distance- are odd as hell.

Then Bowles needs to adjust this. I’m going to find the stats this week on how often the edge rushers are in coverage and how they have fared. When I get the analysis thread going post some Twitter, YT or video showing what you’re talking about. I’m bit saying it’s not happening, but I want to see what those calls are.

I thought it was just Dallas initially and I chalked it up to their Oline not needing to double anyone. The. Atlanta didn’t double him last week. Rams didn’t do it this week either. DW is going up against more guards this year than last year. I can’t say for sure why teams aren’t bothering to double Vea, but as I said earlier in the week until someone else steps up they won’t need to double him.Primeminister wrote: ↑Sun Sep 26, 2021 8:47 pmThen Bowles needs to adjust this. Not much went wrong for the Rams today. Lots to clean up for the Bucs.
Brady and the pass game made it closer than it was.
We couldn't catch a break, dropped INT, inconsistent officiating to end the half on that OPI call, our safety falls.
Neither team had a turnover.
We need to get off the field on 3rd down. Rams were 10/15.
We'll be alright. That was the Rams best shot, not ours.

I have seen four or five plays a game where the offensive line tackles Vea. I have seen it called holding once. I think he would demand double teams if the officiating crew would now allow him to be tackled.King Bootz wrote: ↑Sun Sep 26, 2021 8:40 pm Vea isn’t getting doubled. Brady already has two 50+ passing attempt games and it's not even October yet. Don't want to wear his arm out too early
I wonder if our complete lack of a running game is by design or because we simply can't run the ball.
Any chance we're getting too enamored with the passing game?

Re: Rapid Reactions Week 3: 34-24 Loss @ Los Angeles Rams
It's simply too hard to run against the Rams. AD is the goat. I expected a lot of AB screens today but we didn't have him.

Bowles has to get more creative. More stunts, loops, twists. Stop dropping guys into coverage as much. It’s not working.Primeminister wrote: ↑Sun Sep 26, 2021 8:53 pmWhat’s the counter to this?King Bootz wrote: ↑Sun Sep 26, 2021 8:52 pm

That said, the Dline is getting owned. Suh is done as a pass rusher. Gholston isn’t that guy. Roches isn’t that guy either. Our Dline isn’t built to rush the passer quite honestly. We rely heavily on someone up front taking on double teams and then free rushers like DW, Shaq, JPP getting to the QB. That won’t work if they are the ones taking on doubles. DW last year was going against RBs or air. This year it’s guards and he’s getting wiped out. JTS isn’t ready. He had a poor game today. I don’t even know if Shaq played today.
Our coverage has to hold up a little better also. But they probably overachieved last year. It’s all a domino effect. If we have no one up front taking on double teams, you can expect more 300+ yard/multiple TD days from QBs,

Bucs aren't winning 1v1 up front on defense.
A step slow right now.
This was the first game in awhile we didn't win the LoS battle.

Rams mostly play a Zone blocking scheme. We blitzed our faces off against Dallas and got burnt. I mostly only saw one OLB rushing this game. A couple of plays with White up the middle but that was it. Our issues in the secondary is causing a lot of drop backs.King Bootz wrote: ↑Sun Sep 26, 2021 9:08 pmHe was overpowering Olinemen just a couple years ago. I dare say we might want to think about more 4-3 until that shit is resolved. It is not like we have a Revis in his prime to make Bowles scheme work.

Yes. Some writers and players say he's the GOAT defensive player, but he's not LT, yet.Digital_Damage wrote: ↑Sun Sep 26, 2021 9:18 pmYou think if Donald quit right now he would be considered better than Young, Childress, Hampton, Randle and Culp?
Don't be an idiot.
Most put him at GOAT DT.
It is subjective, so you aren't wrong saying he's not, but even if you don't agree, there's valid argument.
3 DPOY, leads the NFL in sacks, pressures, win rate, double teams, and a lost of other things coming from the middle.
The way he dominates compared to his peers is in that rare legendary status.
Re: Rapid Reactions Week 3: 34-24 Loss @ Los Angeles Rams
Shaq was 4th in tackles, tied for first in tackles for loss and qb hits but yeah accuse him of losing this game. Idk if its the weight he lost or what but Vea isn't demanding double teams like he used to. Pedro keeps saying Vea has no technique. After 3 years you can't just bullrush.

Pretty obvious why you went with obscurity instead of actually listing the numbers. Listing the numbers makes your point much less impactful. Shaq had the same number of QB hits as he did TFL: 1 a piece. That’s not even close to being good enough. That’s not what he’s getting paid $18mil a year to offer 1 QB hit and 1 tackle for loss a game.kaimaru wrote: ↑Sun Sep 26, 2021 9:38 pmShaq was 4th in tackles, tied for first in tackles for loss and qb hits but yeah accuse him of losing this game. Out of the stadium, ate a nice dinner. I didn't see any of the broadcast stuff, but here's what I've noticed.
Long story short, teams this year have figured our defense out, or at least they are all trying to solve us the same way. We are really good at what we do well and teams refuse to play our game. We want to line up in base, stop the run, and blitz on third down out of nickel. In essence, we're a latter version of those great 46 defenses put together by the 80s Bears. And just like those Bears, the best way to beat them is by not playing to their strengths. Rhythm passing, timing concepts, beat them on the edges, get them out of their base and make them run. And given that we refuse to leave nickel defense and we cannot adjust to trips like adults, we consistently get formationally outfoxed. We lose many reps before the ball is even snappedand we aren't playing matchups at all.
We have dumb penalties, our run game is archaic and ineffective, and our defensive backs are not put into a position to succeed.
Tryon needs to get his hands up when closing on the passer to shut down passing lanes.
Our gameplan revolves entirely around making Tom Brady pull rabbits out of hats for us to win.
I'm not ready to write-off the season, but unless we make some changes, particularly on defense, we won't get far.
