That is why I would have preferred that Bowles be let go this year. Give the new coach a head start on the decisions that need to be made.Navybuc wrote: ↑Wed Jan 25, 2023 5:34 pm I mean, does it really matter? Bowles is likely gonna be fired after next season. The coaching staff usually then changes with the new HC. This team is about to get gutted and we are gonna have to rebuild like the Jags did. Ask Jacksonville fans…it was painful what they went through before Doug Pederson got there and they had all those #1s. We are about to experience that same kind of pain.
Buckle up boys and girls…the next few years are gonna be rlvery rocky.
Another head coach has to want to come here. Might as well let Bowles be the HC for the next couple retooling years and then bring in someone else when the future isn’t so bleak.13F11B wrote: ↑Wed Jan 25, 2023 8:34 pmThat is why I would have preferred that Bowles be let go this year. I have a few issues with that:Grahamburn wrote: ↑Thu Jan 26, 2023 6:37 amAnother head coach has to want to come here. Might as well let Bowles be the HC for the next couple retooling years and then bring in someone else when the future isn’t so bleak.
I agree. If there as even a thought that Bowles would be let go next season then the trigger should be pulled now. No sense in delaying things and having a guy on a razor's edge all season.
Dude still trying to get the Bucs to pay him.King Bootz wrote: ↑Thu Jan 26, 2023 4:38 pm
No playcalling experience, overall inconsistent coaching history all together (Didn't coach in 2012, 2013, 2016), has ONLY ever been a WR coach. But he played and won a SB here 20 years ago today (guessing that's why they had his interview today).

- I think that level of failure is very much in his wheelhouse, if that's what you think will be required.King Bootz wrote: ↑Thu Jan 26, 2023 3:34 pm He's only on the hot seat in the minds of fans. We'd have to fail miserably in 2023. I mean a Greg Schiano, Raheem Morris type failure for him to be canned.
Recent reports have indicated that quarterback Tom Brady will not return to the Bucs in 2023, but Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times says that is not necessarily the case. Assuming Brady wants to continue his playing career, a fourth year in Tampa should not be ruled out.

Except we don't know any of that. Now, if you want to say it reinforces some rumors & speculation that we've heard/discussed, then you'd be more accurate with that statement.
This. It's pure speculation. This season has felt like watching a reality show with how invested fans have gotten with drama and rumors
I think he will see what’s out there but could very well come back here. I don’t even think he knows.Phantom wrote: ↑Fri Jan 27, 2023 11:55 amRecent reports have indicated that quarterback Tom Brady will not return to the Bucs in 2023, but Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times says that is not necessarily the case. Okay, fair. What we suspect.
He's been with the Bengals since 2016 on Marvin Lewis' staff. Taylor retained him. He has experience coaching WRs & QBs. He interviewed for the OC job, not QB coach. So his main focus would not be developing a QB but designing, coordinating, and calling plays for the offense.
Still, Monken was OC for 2016,17, and 18.Heisenberg wrote: ↑Fri Jan 27, 2023 9:43 pm Of the names out there so far I feel monken is the best/safest choice. Iirc his offense did pretty good here when he actually got to call plays. Then koetter took back over and sucked and gave them back. The game koetter took back over we had 500 yards offense but scored 3 points. How's that even possible.
He sparingly called plays outside of 2018. Kind of like Bill Muir under Gruden, it was just OC in title.mdb1958 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 27, 2023 10:28 pmStill, Monken was OC for 2016,17, and 18.Heisenberg wrote: ↑Fri Jan 27, 2023 9:43 pm Of the names out there so far I feel monken is the best/safest choice. 19 wins and 29 losses as OC for us.
I think we should look at these 600/700 point offenses these smaller colleges are putting out. There just may be some special stuff happening and we may see some other position coach we'd like.
