Patrick Mahomes would make the Bucs a contender again! The Bucs won't pursue Mahomes though. What a silly waste of time.
Re: An exercise in love: Bucs sign lamar?
Just me but I think there's a difference between a guy who's an impending FA on a franchise tag and a guy that's 4 years into a 12 year contract....Grahamburn wrote: ↑Mon Mar 13, 2023 5:31 pm Patrick Mahomes would make the Bucs a contender again! So he turned down 45M/Season for 3 years, fully guaranteed, and turned it down? Why?
Re: An exercise in love: Bucs sign lamar?
He's calling bullshit on the report. Unnamed sources, ect.real bucs fan wrote: ↑Tue Mar 14, 2023 1:20 pm So he turned down 45M/Season for 3 years, fully guaranteed, and turned it down? Why?
Additionally, he's saying if this was about the owners trying to prevent fully guarantee deals, that much is BS as well seeing as he reportedly turned down a fully guaranteed deal.

Re: An exercise in love: Bucs sign lamar?
And people are saying he needs an agent but he's "reportedly" been offered multiple fully guaranteed deals without one....Lamar is calling out the media on their bullshit.

The Ravens don’t see him keeping up his performance beyond 3 years.real bucs fan wrote: ↑Tue Mar 14, 2023 1:20 pm So he turned down 45M/Season for 3 years, fully guaranteed, and turned it down? Why?
Maybe Lamar doesn’t either?
Re: An exercise in love: Bucs sign lamar?
But aren't teams against fully guaranteed deals? No one even knows the point they're trying to make in this situation.Snake wrote: ↑Tue Mar 14, 2023 1:28 pmThe Ravens don’t see him keeping up his performance beyond 3 years.real bucs fan wrote: ↑Tue Mar 14, 2023 1:20 pm So he turned down 45M/Season for 3 years, fully guaranteed, and turned it down? Just call em out straight. Brady did it with Kleiman but with a sprinkle of humour. That’s how it should be done.Bootz wrote: ↑Tue Mar 14, 2023 2:08 pmHe's giving what the media is. Brady showed the media respect in that aspect. Lamar did not. They didn't name sources so he shouldn't incriminate himself. Especially when he wants a new deal.real bucs fan wrote: ↑Tue Mar 14, 2023 2:39 pmJust call em out straight. Brady did it with Kleiman but with a sprinkle of humour. That’s how it should be done.

He turned down $133/3? That's in him.
FA, new lock up at 29 if not extended again even fatter?
Yes you need an agent.

Re: An exercise in love: Bucs sign lamar?
Why would he need an agent if he's negociating and being offered these fully guaranteed deals that people said NFL owners were trying to get rid of? Multiple fully guaranteed deals if we're to believe the media. Answer that question.

Re: An exercise in love: Bucs sign lamar?
Lamar is challenging a status quo, and with that almost always comes with heavy resistance. Obviously the owners don't want this, which is why they're colluding (please don't try to argue that they're not). But Lamar is also challenging the need for an agent. Imagine if his plan works and be self negotiates the richest contract in NFL history? Suddenly this becomes an awkward moment for all the agents out there asking for their 15%.
So there's going to be a lot of misinformation coming out from various sources all with the hopes of pressuring the Lamar situation to end in the favor of those who want the status quo to remain unchallenged.

Baker would be a great backup for Lamar

Re: An exercise in love: Bucs sign lamar?
15% is nonsense. Agents get 3% of the contract they workout for their clients. Whatever other deals they put together for their clients (advertising, appearances, endorsements, etc) they'll likely get a bigger cut.BucsNBills wrote: ↑Tue Mar 14, 2023 11:37 pm Lamar is challenging a status quo, and with that almost always comes with heavy resistance. IMO Lamar is out in front of his skis here. He misrepresented the deal he turned down, and tried to paint Schefter in a disingenuous light. They read the contract that the Ravens provided them. It's a bad look, and frankly paints a picture of a talent who may not be worth the headache.

Re: An exercise in love: Bucs sign lamar?
The league is terrified of these big time QBs fully realizing the power they truly have now. That's the problem with designing the most beautiful team sport to ever exist around one single position. Quarterbacks now hold a gross disproportionate amount of power over the teams they play for.
The league now has to depend on the good graces of these QBs or else the shit is going to hit the fan.
For example... What if Patrick Mahomes said... Yo KC, I don't play another down until you pay me $75 million a year.
What exactly would the Chiefs do?
What do the Bengals do if Burrow says, I want 5 years $300 million fully guaranteed. Are the Bengals REALLY going to get rid of the best QB their franchise has ever had?
The above examples are why there's so much colluding going on against Lamar right now. You have a young elite QB that can been had for less draft capital than Jamal Adams and we have not heard a single peep from any team expressing interest in him and he's been free to negotiate for going on 48 hours.
Baker Mayfield got more attention than Lamar Jackson has.
The league knows it's at a critical point with these quarterbacks and Lamar is the match next to an ocean of gasoline. They're going to do everything they can to fuck him over. It's sad really.

Re: An exercise in love: Bucs sign lamar?
If Joe Burrow asked for $300mil fully guaranteed we already know what the Bengals would do: franchise tag him and see if other teams offer up 2 1sts.
Mahomes would get a fully guaranteed deal if he wanted one. Why? He has the resumé to demand one and then some.

Re: An exercise in love: Bucs sign lamar?
Yes and no.
I think QB is definitely seizing its power, but I think a lot of that is going to level off more than increase. Brady really tilted the field. As incredible as Mahomes and some of these other guys are they aren't Brady. They will likely be in that Manning, Rodgers, Brees area. Which is HoF awesome, obviously, but it's 1-2 SBs. We could very well never see Hurts in a SB again.
I think we're going to see more SBs go the Kurt Warners, Cam Newtons, and Jimmy Gs of the league. Defense will rise again.
