2024 NFL Coaching Hire Tracker
Re: 2024 NFL Coaching Hire Tracker
Looking like either Ben Johnson or Mike McDonald will miss out on this cycle.

As much as I hate the Falcons, i think this is a very solid move. I wish him luck..except on the sundays he plays us.Miller4Prez64 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 25, 2024 4:57 pm It’s a bummer I have to cheer for both Raheem and Canales to fail.

There were reports the past few days it was falling apart. Assumptions were it was tied to McKay.uscbucsfan1 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 25, 2024 5:00 pm I thought it was a done deal with Bellichick to the Falcons. Apparently he wanted to go there.

Reports Washington has their eyes on Ben Johnson… but this may leave them as BB’s only option. Maybe they leverage that?
Seattle is an option for those guys too, but Quinn does make sense with his ties there.
Re: 2024 NFL Coaching Hire Tracker
Maybe he can be the DC and run his amazing defense of playing his cbs 15 yards back on 3 and 1.

Byron Leftwich for saints OC! DO IT DOM!
Re: 2024 NFL Coaching Hire Tracker
Thank the Lord the Falcons didn't decide on Ben Johnson.

Re: 2024 NFL Coaching Hire Tracker
Seattle to this point hasn't interviewed either of them. Dan Quinn is the only one to receive a 2nd interview.Deja Entendu wrote: ↑Thu Jan 25, 2024 5:04 pmReports Washington has their eyes on Ben Johnson… but this may leave them as BB’s only option. Maybe they leverage that?

Re: 2024 NFL Coaching Hire Tracker
Also, imagine telling some Bucs fans in 2012 that someday in the future an NFL franchise will willingly take Raheem Morris as their HC over Bill Belichick.
Re: 2024 NFL Coaching Hire Tracker
I can honestly understand an organization not jumping at the chance to sign a 72 year old HC that's 29-38 over the last 4 years.

Re: 2024 NFL Coaching Hire Tracker
Even if his record wasnt so bad, i would think that his age is a big red flag.
The Patriot way worked because he was there for so long and had established the culture through years and years of winning and carrying players that helped reinforced that culture.
Starting over from scratch without any carryover is going to be hard and being that old is going to make it that much harder to get younger players to buy in, not to mention he probably doesn't have very many years left before he retires.
The only thing i could compare it to is our own team with Bruce Arians. Except Bill is not nearly as beloved as Bruce.

You made it clear that you hoped you all of the black coaches that would be hired had been hired with Pierce and Mayo.BucsNBills wrote: ↑Thu Jan 25, 2024 5:42 pmSorry for what? Falcons just made themselves irrelevant for the foreseeable future.

Did Raheem get his first win as Bucs coach against the Packers when they went 0-7? I was at that game. Freeman first start.

The Falcons made a GREAT hire in Raheem! Expect the Falcons to be one tough team moving forward.

I said that we shouldn't hear any more bitching over black hc bean counting, which is still going to be an "issue" despite blacks being so well represented in the league.

Seconded.Miller4Prez64 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 25, 2024 4:37 pm The idea of a coach coming in and just getting rid of the QB is one that doesn’t happen as much in reality as people thinks it does. Obviously when the team stinks and has a bad QB you see a change, but coaches don’t take over and get rid of good QBs for “their own guy.” The only time I can remember something like that happening was Josh McDaniels trying to dump Jay Cutler for Matt Cassell and it ended up being a terrible decision and made McDaniels a laughing stock.
You just don’t trade 25 year old QBs of Herbert’s caliber unless they are disgruntled and demand the trade.

Its a major concern. The number do not lie. His worst quarter statistically is the 4th, where his peers get better as the game goes along. Too often his team snatches defeat from the jaws of victory. And usually guys with his talent level elevate those around him. But all you hear about Herbert is how he doesn't have enough.uscbucsfan1 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 25, 2024 4:36 pmI mentioned you because you've been clear that you don't think he's on the Mahomes level like some, but he's still very good. He just finds ways to lose at times and it's a concern for you.Bootz wrote: ↑Thu Jan 25, 2024 4:34 pm
Exactly. I never pretend that he's a bum. He absolutely has the talent to succeed in this league. But to me succeeding is winning games and championships. Herbert to this point has lost more than he's won.
But you're going to have an extremely hard time replacing him. Harbaugh + Herbert SHOULD yield great results.
Let's see: Keenan Allen is definitely a top 10 veteran WR. Mike Williams AND Quentin Johnson are 1st round draft picks. Austin Eckler is a very good RB. Despite this most mocks have them taking ANOTHER WR in the 1st.
How much talent does a "top 5" QB need to succeed?

Re: 2024 NFL Coaching Hire Tracker
So wait, the Falcons chose Raheem Morris over Bill Belichick?
Re: 2024 NFL Coaching Hire Tracker
I believe the reason for this could be either his age or Rich McKay. Take your pick.
Re: 2024 NFL Coaching Hire Tracker
Falcons fans having a complete meltdown over on their forum and on social media. Quite entertaining to see. Everyone calling for Rich McKay’s head.

Williams is always hurt and QJ was a rookie. You can hate on Herbert without having to stretch the truth my guy.

You say Mike Williams and QJ are first round picks like that means anything.
Bryce young and Jamarcus Russell are first round picks too…
