Looks like Harbaugh wont be going back to the NCAA soon …
Jim Harbaugh, the former Michigan football head coach who led the Wolverines to the 2023 national championship, has been suspended for one year and hit with a four-year show-cause order by the NCAA after he was found to have demonstrated both “unethical conduct” and a failure to promote “an atmosphere of compliance” as it pertains to an investigation into impermissible recruiting during a COVID-19 dead period in 2021

This is such a dumb story. Harbaugh sat down at breakfast four years ago, ate a cheeseburger, and talked ball with two recruits and their dads. He later denied that he did so despite evidence to the contrary because such a foul act was technically a recruiting violation.

Oh how scandalous. And now he's barred for a year from coaching at a level that he no longer coaches at.

Lemme quote Harbaugh's lawyer Tom Mars:

"The way I see it, from Coach Harbaugh’s perspective, today’s COI decision is like being in college and getting a letter from your high school saying you’ve been suspended because you didn’t sign the yearbook.

If I were in Coach Harbaugh’s shoes and had an $80 million contract as head coach of the Chargers, I wouldn’t pay any attention to the findings of a kangaroo court which claims to represent the principles of the nation’s most flagrant, repeat violator of the federal antitrust laws.”

Seconded.

Yeah, but part of the reason he left was because he knew this was coming

Harbaugh also wears pleated khakis as a rule and drinks milk with his steak.

Dude is weird. A good coach and a good person, but undeniably odd.

It's the NCAA. In 10 to 15 years, the rules will change and all will be forgiven. Besides, it's not Pete Carroll did anything different. Today, no one cares about what he did.

I typed 7 different responses to this, then I deleted them all only to try again, and each time it was to only again fail in my attempt to express my thoughts on this atrocity. That ineptitude on my part shows just how shaken I am by this concept. No words.

No words.

No words.

What in the actual F is wrong with that man.

Kinda like what SMU did over the years to warrant their program getting the "Death Penalty" back in 1987. By today's standards, what they did was perfectly legal.

And yes, I'm old enough to remember that.

Yup. The only difference between SMU, USC, Michigan and everyone else, is that those 3 got caught.

I don't think Michigan is going to end the season unranked.

However, the Wolverines lost their head coach and 13 players to the draft, seven of which were in the first three rounds. That's a lot of experience, leadership, and Sunday talent that just walked out the door.

To expect Michigan to not have a Natty hangover at least in part is wishful thinking.

They have a tough schedule -- 3 top 5 teams

I was looking at all the Big 10 schedules...I think we have seen the end of people going undefeated.

Since 2010, in 9 of the 14 (65%) years at least one team went undefeated in conference play -- I think that number will fall to 25% or so

2023 - Mich
2022 - Mich
2020 - OSU
2019 - OSU
2017 - Wisc
2015 - Iowa
2014 - OSU
2013 - OSU, MSU
2012 - OSU

Both Michigan and FSU have challenging schedules. I think FSU will lose at Miami and at Notre Dame. SMU will be a tricky game but I think they'll survive. But all they need to do is win the ACC, which is very doable. They'll prolly face either Clemson or Miami in the ACC title game.

As for Michigan, they have to win the games they're supposed to. I don't think they're beating Texas or Ohio State this year. Which means they need to win at Washington and at home against Oregon or they'll prolly miss the playoff.

Yep. BC would've pulled off the upset last year if not for so many penalties. And their starting QB returns along with a former Nole at RB to hand the ball off to.

5 Predictions for the season:

1) Georgia and Ohio State will stay #1 and #2 all season long. They're that good.
2) USF will threaten for a playoff spot.
3) Notre Dame will make the FInal 4.
4) The SEC will get 5 teams in the playoff
5) Kansas wins the Big 12 and gets the #4 seed.

As soon as I saw FSU had DJ Uguialele I just shrugged my shoulders and said “Ehhhh.” Guy seems to have been all over the place and always underperforms no matter where he goes. Clemson fans know what I’m talking about.

Ehhh I don’t take rankings seriously until November. Not to mention that may change after this week.

The way I look at it Ward > Uigalelei

Hanes has a stop/start button like Barry Sanders had. Not comparing him beyond that, but goodness.
