Dreams for the end of the season.

1) Indiana beats Ohio State, then loses to Purdue. Opening up the B1G championship for PSU.

2) Colorado somehow keeps winning their way into a 11-12 seed.

3) Army beats Notre Dame in Yankee Stadium. Thus eliminating those damn Catholics. And maybe giving us the coolest playoff team ever.

Ole Miss can’t keep up with Oregon’s speed.

That's what people always say about Oregon, and have been saying for years - all the way back to the Chip Kelly days.

Nobody can keep up with them.... until somebody punches them in the mouth.

B1G football is punch you in the mouth football. They’ve beaten everyone on their list. Ohio State included. Boise included. Illinois included. If they get through Wisconsin… they’ve answered the B1G bell. I think PSU’s front 7 can match up but the back 4 nah.

Oregon is different. Gabriel is 30.

Good for the sport
Curt Cignetti and the Indiana football program still got busy during their bye week.
After the Hoosiers survived 20-15 against Michigan at home last week, advancing Indiana to 10-0 and their first-ever season with double digit wins, Cignetti signed a new eight-year contract. The deal runs through the 2032 season and pays Cignetti an average annual compensation of $8 million, as well as an additional annual $1 million retention bonus.

In two years time they will be 4 - 8 like normal. And they will have an $8 coach. In five years time, they will buy him out and hire another coach and have total coaching payments of $12 mil/year.

I like Cignetti. I hope indiana is different. Increases the revenue for the sport. Gives more interesting matchups. They’re top 5 story this year maybe even number one.

I've discovered PSU fans bitching about the weak schedule are even gheyer than Steeler fans telling me that Tomlin should be fired.

You don't make the schedule, you play who is on it. Schedules are made years in advance and have no barring on anyone other than the AD. The players don't make the schedule. Stop punishing players with that silly argument.

Is PSU making a push for their TE to get Heisman hype? Dudes caught for 130 and a TD and ran for 65 and a TD

Did anyone else see the play in LSU/Florida where the QB had the Offensive Linemen take the ball from him on the way down. He rumbled and stumbled for 5 yards to get to the LOS. Then fumbled immediately upon being hit. Really comical stuff.

Colleges waste an absurd amount of money buying out coaches. Any president that agrees to a contract that they have to pay more than $3M for a buyout should be immediately fired if said firing happens

I rewatched Band of Brothers for the first time last week. It had been a good 15 years since I'd last seen it. It still holds up very well. Probably because of how hard the show runners tried to keep the story true to history. They interviewed veterans from that campaign and if they said something wasn't right, they changed it to make it right. If you haven't seen it before, I'd highly recommend it. It follows the 101st Airborne Division from their initial parachute drop behind enemy lines in Normandy on D-Day all the way to the war's end in Germany.

As an aside, one of my brothers was in the 101st during the Vietnam War. He sent me one of his units patches along with a bunch of other memorabilia from while he was there. I still have it all today in a wooden cigar box that I've kept since he sent it to me back in '69 and '70.

Now...why am I posting this here? I'll tell you.

My daughter just sent me a video this morning of Army's uniform unveiling for the uniforms they plan to wear in this year's Army/Navy football game (Go Navy!). It was designed to honor the 101st Airborne and their Battle of the Bulge campaign.

This article describes all the elements of the uniform:

Navy's unveiling...

https://news.sportslogos.net/2024/11/21 ... e/college/

The Jolly Roger squadron (VF-103) deployed with my boat, USS America, back when I was served aboard her.

When I served, they were flying the F14 Tomcat:

That last time a service academy was undefeated in football was 1945. It was also the last year a service academy won the National Championship. Both Army and Navy were undefeated (Navy had tied ND that year, however) when they met in the annual Army/Navy game to close out their seasons. Army was ranked #1 and Navy #2. Army prevailed with a 32-13 win over Navy to complete a perfect 9-0 season and secure the National Championship.

Navy is 7-3 right now. The only unranked team they lost to was Rice. Both ranked teams (ND #6 and Tulane #20) they faced beat them. #18 Army should wipe the field with Navy this year. If Army can upset ND, they may very well go undefeated for the first time since that 1945 season. Even though I'm a Navy guy, that would be awesome to see.
