Spytek deserves this, but it still sucks ass to lose him. He’s a way bigger part of our recent success than people realize. Licht will absolutely miss having him.

Honestly surprised it has taken this long. Good for him.

I always think about SkyNet from the Terminator franchise for some reason.

A little worried that Coen might change his mind now that Baalke is gone, but then again if he decides to hitch his wagon to that dumpster fire of an org, then maybe it's a blessing in a disguise.
We're paying the price for a half-measure taken by The Union 160 years ago.
The New Union will correct that mistake.

Re: 2025 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Offseason Thread
Baalke is not the problem. He’s symptom of the problem. Look at the decision-making of his superiors. It’s consistently awful. Just because the guy you report directly to changes, doesn’t mean the fish isn’t rotting from the head down.
I’d be staying put.

Here's the thing: Theres no way of knowing if Coen was even their top choice. By all accounts their #1 guy has been and still is Saleh, which is why his interview was scheduled last this week. Coen made this decision before he went to Jacksonville. So if he's changing his mind it's just to interview with them in person.BucsNBills wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2025 3:46 pm A little worried that Coen might change his mind now that Baalke is gone, but then again if he decides to hitch his wagon to that dumpster fire of an org, then maybe it's a blessing in a disguise.

Yeah, I think it's more Coen realizing it's not a great situation there. He'd rather put another great year of offense on his resume and increase the opportunities.
I can't really see him saying he was no longer interested, signing a new deal here, and then going back to Khan and the Jags just because they canned the GM they initially wouldn't get rid of. How could you trust that process and lack of conviction in the decision making? Nor could I really see Khan reaching back out with his tail between his legs. Seems like it would be below both of them.

Top Landing Spots for Cooper Kupp If WR Leaves Rams in NFL Offseason
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
6 of 6
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers could lose Chris Godwin in free agency. He will be the second-best wide receiver on the free-agent market behind Tee Higgins, so he should garnet a lot of interest despite coming off an injury-shortened campaign.
The Buccaneers have a potential in-house replacement for Godwin in rookie third-rounder Jalen McMillan, who finished second on the team in touchdown receptions (eight). With that said, Tampa Bay may want a veteran reinforcement at wide receiver to draw some coverage away from Mike Evans.
Buccaneers offensive coordinator Liam Coen worked with Kupp while he was the Rams' assistant wide receivers coach between 2018 and 2019. He was also their offensive coordinator in 2022 under head coach and play-caller Sean McVay.
The Buccaneers would need to restructure contracts to accommodate Kupp's salary. Nonetheless, this move would make sense, particularly with Coen accepting a raise to remain the offensive play-caller in Tampa Bay.
If Godwin signs elsewhere in free agency, Kupp could replace him as a receiver who can line up in the slot or outside.

Sucks that Godwin keeps getting banged up, but I'm not seeing Kupp as an upgrade.Bootz wrote: ↑Thu Jan 23, 2025 1:22 pmTop Landing Spots for Cooper Kupp If WR Leaves Rams in NFL Offseason

Honestly, I'd rather dump that cash into the Defense.
Coen has shown he can make it work without Godwin, and our defense needs all the help they can get.

Re: 2025 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Offseason Thread
Take both of these guys at their best, it's not particularly close. Kupp is way better at what he does.
I'd gladly take Kupp for the next year or 2 over Godwin for the next 4 or 5.

Re: 2025 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Offseason Thread
Well yeah I'd rather have both and an elite defense, but we have limited resources.
You wouldn't rather have those resources used to bolster a group you've been arguing needs better players?

No you don't. If I asked you who you'd replace on defense in 2025, I guarantee you your list would be short or nonexistent. But let's give it a try.
Who are you replacing on defense and how would you do it?

Looks like we'll need a new DL coach.

Re: 2025 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Offseason Thread
I believe we’re all set at the offense but we definitely need a wide receiver to replace Godwin. Kupp is upgraded, and Bootz is right.
Seriously, though, please for God’s sake, upgrade the cornerback, linebackers, and defensive ends.
Thanks.

Over the last three seasons Cooper Kupp has played in 33 of a possible 51 games, good for 65%...not good enough for us to spend money on whatsoever.
Also, in those 33 games, he's put up a combined total of 201/2259/17.
At this point, he's a really good #3 WR. The juice aint worth the squeeze anymore.

Let's do this on a per game basis.
Godwin: 6.07 catches, 67.25 yards, 0.25 TDs/game
Kupp: 6.09 catches, 68.45 yards, 0.51 TDs/game

As of now, my replacement picks would be Tosh Lupoi, the DC for Oregon. He's smart, a sponge for the game, and a workaholic. I think he'd be able to do great work under Bowles.
For the DL, we bring back the one, the only.... Warren Sapp. He did well as the DL coach in Colorado and is just about as big of a fire as you can light in that room.

Agree, I dont understand the changing of ice cream cones unless he got a raise or just doesn't like Florida.
Re: 2025 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Offseason Thread
I hope we get a new db coach. They always seem lost and confused.
Re: 2025 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Offseason Thread
He has a clear avenue to become a play calling coordinator, that could lead to a HC job.Central_Buc wrote: ↑Thu Jan 23, 2025 7:22 pmAgree, I dont understand the changing of ice cream cones unless he got a raise or just doesn't like Florida.
Getting a HC gig without being a playcaller has happened, but it's rare and just much harder.
