Smallish frame. Bowles doesn’t typically like guys like this. Will struggle to set the edge.
Also possible character concerns.
But, high motor and solid sack production.
He’s at the Senior Bowl so we’ll have a better idea how he stacked up against good tackles soon enough.

Licht loves the senior bowl.
...I should go to the Senior Bowl. It's only a two hour drive.

Is he not about the same in size as Carter, Pearce, Walker, and the 2 boys from Boston College and Virginia Tech?Grahamburn wrote: ↑Wed Jan 29, 2025 7:48 am Smallish frame. Bowles doesn’t typically like guys like this. Will struggle to set the edge.

Which has me wondering how many edge rushers become 4-3 DE's and How many become 3-4 DE's. What are his character concerns?

- Thin and wiry frame, needs to add size and strength to set the edge against NFL offensive tackles.mdb1958 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 29, 2025 9:13 amIs he not about the same in size as Carter, Pearce, Walker, and the 2 boys from Boston College and Virginia Tech?Grahamburn wrote: ↑Wed Jan 29, 2025 7:48 am Smallish frame. - Upper body strength to get extension on blocks is sub-par, too.
- Likes to work around or duck inside blocks against the run, leaving his gap open.
- Has a habit of leaving his feet to tackle, leading to misses.
- Will gamble and lose outside contain as a pass-rusher.
- Didn't become a full-time starter until 2024.
- Transferred from Virginia in 2022.
Green is a work in progress against the run. He was listed as a wide receiver recruit and was a 215-pound linebacker at Virginia and that shows up in his play strength. He lacks the upper body strength to get extension on blocks and sand in his pants to set the edge against offensive tackles at the next level.
Green has put on a significant amount of weight after changing schools, but that does lead to more questions about how many more pounds his wiry frame can hold.

@Grahamburn That sounds like a sales job to make teams think he will be available in the 6th round. I have no idea, when do you see him being picked? I think games get played in these prospect lists by purposely raising some up the lists and dropping others and it makes us say well darn I didnt see that coming.

He has plenty of strengths as well. I'm just thinking of him as a potential Bucs' prospect, and Jason Licht nor Todd Bowles have much history picking a player like this.mdb1958 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 29, 2025 10:30 am @Grahamburn That sounds like a sales job to make teams think he will be available in the 6th round. They like strong upper body bull rush types who clog the rushing lanes.

I think they'll probably lean more toward Jalon Walker out of this group. I feel like he's a player Bowles would love to move around as an iLB and EDGE player. Same for Jihaad Campbell.

That can't contain a running QB?Grahamburn wrote: ↑Wed Jan 29, 2025 10:49 amHe has plenty of strengths as well. Re: Thoughts on Mike Green from Marshall
Seemingly. And I know WE all want a pass rushing athletic freak EDGE menace, but that's not really how Bowles does things. We spent a 2nd on Braswell last year so he has to play. Diaby has to play. If you draft another EDGE guy in the 1st they're playing over one of them.mdb1958 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 29, 2025 11:00 amThat can't contain a running QB?Grahamburn wrote: ↑Wed Jan 29, 2025 10:49 am

Walker and Campbell are the "tweeners" that can play iLB and EDGE. Guys that Bowles can chess piece around to show he's the smartest guy in the room. So, if we're picking any of these dudes in the first round that's who I'd expect. Probably Walker at #19 or Campbell if they trade back.
It all shakes out more as the off-season goes along though. Does LVD retire? Do both Anthony Nelson and JTS leave? Do they sign anyone? Etc.

It would be cool to have a guy on the team who knows about Tudor's Biscuit World.
Way better than that poutine crap.
Anyway, that last rep bugs me

Re: Thoughts on Mike Green from Marshall
Background checks and interviews are a part of this process that a lot of the general public doesn’t get privy to all of the information. For Green, it has been surfacing the last few weeks about a sexual assault charge that he faced while a part of the Virginia Cavaliers program. The talented pass rusher also dealt with a similar charge while still at Lafayette High School.
People certainly can change and make up for past mistakes. It’s uncertain how much those cases will affect his draft stock, if at all. As a part of Green’s past, it’s something that teams will spend a lot of time digging into, and figure out if the issues are something they can get past.

They meet with him. They'll ask him about it. He'll either stay on the board or come off.
