Let get it done Tampa!
Oh I agree. The Trop is a mission to get to if you're not in Pinellas County. It's also a bitch to get in and out of.

Get a deal done on that huge tract of raw land over by the fairgrounds and the Hard Rock. It will be right off I-4, easy to get to, and will draw fans from multiple surrounding counties. Not to mention that the casino will benefit from added business during games.

Latest news is that due to renovation for the roof
On the table is an offer from the Rays to extend their lease by 10 years, keeping them at the Trop until 2038, according to insights from The Tampa Bay Times.

At least this doesn't look awkward.

Could Hard Rock Casino contribute to the funding of the new stadium if the Rays relocate to the Florida State Fairground?

They have money

just an idea, If the Rays relocate there, it would benefit the Hard Rock Casino business. In return, they could help build bars and restaurants around the stadium, similar to The Battery in Atlanta.

If the Rays built by the fairground, it would probably be "Hard Rock Field" because the partnership makes too much sense. You already have the hotel and casino. Just add some more additional businesses and you will have a Battery District ready to go. Build some family friendly attractions like movie theaters, escape rooms, laser tag or paintball. And for the 20's and up scene, maybe 1 or 2 bars that stay open til about 4 AM. And a non-nude dance club that has different themes every couple of weeks. Think a of hip hop night, emo night, sci-fi night, pride night, R&B night, 70's night and Latino night. It's literally endless

The only concern is traffic and whatever new ballpark is gonna have to come with some amendments to either I-4 or I-75

Stu should promptly accept this, as it presents a substantial opportunity for significant financial gain.

If there's one thing we know how to do around here, it's "amend" I-4. I moved here 26 years ago, and as far as I know, I-4 has never NOT been under construction. I remember one project that, as far as I could tell, amounted to them picking up one entire side of interstate and sliding it 8 feet to the right. I think they just wanted a wider median? Hell if I know.

Ditto Malfunction Junction (the section of I-275 thru downtown Tampa).

With the roof renovated, it seems like the Rays will stay in St. Petersburg until 2038. That gives them plenty of time to explore the new stadium in the Tampa area.

Anyway I believe the Rays are having a blast time at Yankee Field compared to Tropicana Field.

Tampa needs to get the Rays a new retractable roof stadium.

They need to get a new retractable roof stadium NEAR THE FAIRGROUNDS. Not in St. Pete. That's what I keep telling everyone. It's a mission to go to a game if you're not in Pinellas County. Put it near the fairgrounds right off I-4 and you will draw fans from multiple counties.

Like in Field Of Dreams, if you build it, they will come.

Well, last night they send Littell out against the Yankees. He goes 5 innings giving up 0 runs and only 2 hits, so within hours of them subsequently blowing the game in extra innings, they immediately trade him to the Reds for a couple of prospects. Now, word is that they're shopping Lowe.

It's time to start learning a whole new batch of names.
