Re: NCAA football 2025
1. Corporatization of college football is nearing its zenith. The teams eventually disassociating from the NCAA, and/or the colleges themselves will be the death of CFB. As we know it. Don’t underestimate how many fans love college football for the “heart” of it. I know at least two guys who have scaled back their consumption because it’s “going NFL.” and these guys LOVE the NFL. It should be a different product.
2. Too expensive.
3. The game is just as good, or better, on TV.
4. There’s too many other entertaining things to do.
5. Gen Z doesn’t watch as much sports. Especially in person. See: reasons 2, 3, 4.

Re: NCAA football 2025
This is missing a ton of context.
Oklahoma used to have a traditional spring football game that drew big crowds, as many schools did and still do.
As a guy who played in the Maize and Blue game at Michigan every spring, I loved that shit. Hell, I watch it as an adult now.
OU doesn't do that anymore. Now, they have what they are calling a "crimson combine." To quote OU's website: "The event will feature Oklahoma players and coaching staff members participating in combine-style drills, skills challenges, on-field fan engagement activities, autograph and photo opportunities, and more."
That's not as fun to watch as a football game, even if the teeth of the game are intentionally dulled in the name of safety. You don't get to see that new recruit playing or see how the defense is shaping up for the fall. Just get to watch some kinda bullshit. I wouldn't waste my time going, and apparently the 90% attendance drop for that spring event reflects I'm not alone.

Re: NCAA football 2025
This stuff about Nico Iamaleava and specifically his dad are crazy.
I'm guessing some QB desperate school will pay up though
I didn't watch this kid play much...I certainly wasn't impressed when I saw him in the OSU game.

I never heard of the kid, but just read an article about it makes me think... "how did you not see this coming?"

“Not so fast my friend”
You’re the main reason I first watched college game day when I was a kid, based on your wild and funny prediction. You will be missed by many.
Thank you Lee Corso

The only part I'll dispute: NFL is better on TV. College? Nuh-uh. Maybe for a random game, but not for your team at home.

Re: NCAA football 2025
I cut down on NCAA football, i used to be a guy who would watch the MAC on Tuesday, the best game on Thursday and Friday and the Buckeyes and maybe one more on Sat.
Now I pretty much watch the Buckeyes and maybe some really big games or when Akron is on TV.
I think the game got too commoditized. Too many similar schemes. Not enough variety

I was never a big college football fan aside from catching a couple FSU games. But having moved from FL pretty far away from a pro team, I thought, "hey the new town here is very invested in College ball, that could be a fun thing to bring the family to" ... So I mosey on over to their website to check out some tickets ... Their prices are nearly the same as Bucs games! Immediately shut that thought down.Zarni wrote: ↑Thu Apr 17, 2025 6:53 pm I cut down on NCAA football, i used to be a guy who would watch the MAC on Tuesday, the best game on Thursday and Friday and the Buckeyes and maybe one more on Sat.

Steve Angeli transferring signals that the CJ Carr era at Notre Dame has begun. Some believe Carr will be better than Underwood.

He (Carr) can be damn near lethal.

Here’s one of those stats that I would never have guessed. Treyveon Henderson had almost 700 touches as a buckeye. He never fumbled once.

Re: NCAA football 2025
I did watch Nico at UT and he is/was not a good fit. Inaccurate and slow progressions. Yeah, he’s young and all but he’s going to find it a bit difficult at UCLA.
I’m glad he’s gone.
And Josh will find the right guy soon enough.

Desmond Howard compares Bryce Underwood to Cam Newton, I’ll take it.
Re: NCAA football 2025
I’ll take CJ Carr over Underwood. Some say Carr will end up being better. I actually think both will be competing for Heisman in a couple years.

As you know, I watch a lot of Georgia Bulldogs games. I’ve seen a lot of footage of this kid, and he’s really good.
But Georgia still has Mike Bobo as the OC He's terrible. Trust me

Five-star passer Jared Curtis, the No. 1 quarterback in the 2026 class, announced his commitment to Georgia over Oregon Monday night, closing a fierce recruiting battle that sources told ESPN went "down to the wire."
Curtis, who initially committed to Georgia in March 2024 before reopening his recruitment this past October, is the No. 5 overall recruit in the 2026 ESPN 300. A 6-foot-4, 225-pound junior from Nashville, Tennessee, Curtis previously stood as the cycle's third-ranked uncommitted prospect.
Re: NCAA football 2025
I’ll just say this…CJ Carr is light years better than Riley Leonard was. Hell Angeli was better and he couldn’t even hold Carr’s jockstrap and was forced to transfer.Phantom wrote: ↑Mon May 05, 2025 5:04 pmNavybuc wrote: ↑Mon May 05, 2025 4:03 pm

Re: NCAA football 2025
I'm thinking of creating a dynasty fantasy college football on fantrax if anyone is interested.
I'm going with 32 teams and setting it up like you pick what school is available. For example, Notre Dame is already taken when you guys get in.
I.e.. if Zarni wants OSU he gets it as long as he is the first to claim it, if OSU was taken he can go with his next closet favorite or some other random school like Grambling lol
I'm on a 32 team nfl dynasty on sleeper. I never played college fantasy but I have to think 32 members isn't as bad because of a larger player pool in college
