No trade partners to trade back twice to pick Egbuka? My first thought was the NFL asked the Glazers to grant them a favor to benefit the league. 2nd thought was Godwin has an iffy road back to recovery.kaimaru wrote: ↑Fri Apr 25, 2025 7:49 amIf we don't go back to back defensive players on day two then I would be truly shocked. Yeah. So, there are two ways to fix the issue.
Better DBs who can cover.
Better pass rushers who can finish.
Here are some guys I hope fall to the Buccaneers:
Edge Donovan Ezeiruaku
S Andrew Mukuba
S Xavier Watts
LB Demetrius Knight Jr.
S Nick Emmanwori
Edge Mike Green
Edge Princely Umanmielen
CB Will Johnson
I doubt several of these guys make it to the Buccaneers pick, but we need defensive help on day two.

Re: The Official 2025 Draft Day Thread!
A report has emerged from an anonymous coach saying Shadeur Sanders had a horrible interview.
“The worst formal interview I’ve ever been in in my life. He’s so entitled. He takes unnecessary sacks. He never plays on time. He has horrible body language. He blames teammates, but the biggest thing is, he’s not that good.”
It's been previously reported that many teams had been displeased with his demeanor in their interviews, with many taking him off their board. This doesn't look good

It’s easy to tolerate the character issues when you’re as talented as Michael Vick. Not when you’re as talented as late stage Kirk Cousins.

There are definitely 20+ guys that can help us. I’d prefer not to trade up. They’re already without a 6th.BuccaNOLEer wrote: ↑Fri Apr 25, 2025 10:04 am For those hoping the Bucs would grab Will Johnson, Landon Jackson, Benjamin Morrison or JT Tiumoloau.....
All four are still on the board as of right now.
If I were Licht, I'd have a trade up plan in my back pocket for tonight.
Re: The Official 2025 Draft Day Thread!
In general, I am a trade down kinda guy. I think most of the time you trade up you make a bad decision. When the team picked Winston I was beside myself. I did not feel either QB in the draft was a first round QB. Trade back and have more swings was my thought.Grahamburn wrote: ↑Fri Apr 25, 2025 11:40 amThere are definitely 20+ guys that can help us. Its the same thing every year: player X fell to the second, should we trade up for him? And then we don’t
Re: The Official 2025 Draft Day Thread!
And need to remember, Player X who was mocked in the top 15, for months, probably fell for a reason.

I think he has to say that. He can't say "well Mike's getting old, Chris is hurt and we didn't win a game when both were out last year". So paint it with "we'll line up 4 wide". Cuts down on the followup questions.
Again...I like the player and understand what the reason for the selection was and just hope that we get some defensive guys in the next few rounds.

It’ll also be nice to still have a threat when Mike taps out of the game, which he does after just about every catch and/or deep route he runs.Four Verticals wrote: ↑Fri Apr 25, 2025 1:09 pmI think he has to say that. Can’t just sit run on us if 13 is on the sidelines the way teams did before.

Yep. For every Warren Sapp there is 100 players that fell for a reason and did not exceed expectations.

Re: The Official 2025 Draft Day Thread!
I am hoping for Xavier Watts.
Re: The Official 2025 Draft Day Thread!
My overall thoughts:
1) I’m not totally against the Bucs pick. Three years from now, we are probably going to be looking at Embuka as our #1 guy. I get it…we had other needs…but finding an heir apparent to Evans is a need especially with Godwin who may start the year on IR. Plus, look at the track record for OSU WRs of late. They’re more boom than bust.
2) Kudos to the Jaguars. I know people are saying “They gave up too much.” They got the best WR and best CB in the draft with one pick. And they’ve got 9 picks still! They can maneuver things around to get back in the 2nd round if they want. That guy is a freak athlete, and when you get a chance to pick someone of that talent, you pick him. Plus I love the Jaguars GM. This guy was a genius with the Rams. He knows his shit. He is so much better than Baalke. And I love Hunter’s personality. How can you not want that guy?
3) I don’t know what the hell are the Giants are doing. Maybe Jaxon Dart will prove me wrong but I saw enough in that Florida game to be convinced this guy is Matt Corral 2.0. And they gave up so much to get him. They probably could have gotten him or Sanders if they just stayed where they were. Or gotten Milroe who I think has some good value in round 3.

Re: The Official 2025 Draft Day Thread!
My original day two board. I thought for sure our WR was going to be 2nd round. Burden, Golden and Egbuka were all overrated. Higgins, and Royals underrated. No way I would have reached for Ebuka there with Barron and Starks on the board.
Royals is very similar to Egbuka. Main difference is Royals is a hands catcher and Egbuka is a body catcher. Better get the kid on a JUGS machine right away and get him to extend those arms. NFL DB's will PBU and INT those balls.
I'm concerned about this pick. I get it, you like high character kids, but this was an extreme reach IMO. If you can't catch the ball with your hands and with your arms extended, you aren't NFL caliber.
Having already picked WR, I'm hoping the DB's don't go before we pick. We have Zyon, an always injured Dean, and a bunch of nobodys. It ain't good enough!! Corner has to be a priority right now.
Donovan Ezeiruaku olb
8. Nick Emmanwori s
9. Shavon Revel cb
10. Jayden Higgins wr
11. Jalen Royals wr
12. Xavier Watts s
13. Carson Schwesinger ilb

Might want to watch his tape again. He does catch with his hands, he just waits until very late to move them to not tip off the DB the ball is coming.GoldenBudda wrote: ↑Fri Apr 25, 2025 2:55 pm My original day two board. Waiting for the ball to come into your body is definition of a body catcher. He's strictly a slot guy, so where does Godwin play?Pirate Life wrote: ↑Fri Apr 25, 2025 4:05 pmMight want to watch his tape again. Royals ATTACKS the ball. 2 minutes of watching tape shows it clear as day. Egbuka does not.
I hate the pick, but the good news is just because I hate it doesn't mean he'll be terrible. Many players have changed their game once they became pro. Fingers crossed that he does.

Huh?BuccaNOLEer wrote: ↑Fri Apr 25, 2025 10:55 amThey have so many holes to fill and they butchered their draft.
Their two biggest needs were CB and WR. They knocked that out with ONE pick.
Plus they have nine picks this left the next two days. The only thing real pick they lost was the 1st next year. But you could argue Hunter is a 1st round WR and 1st round CB. So what did they really give up?
Bottom line is the Jags need game-changers. They need different makers. I don’t think Mason Graham is that. But Hunter sure as hell is. I would love that kid on my team. He’s fun to watch and is a hell of a kid.
Listening to Jags radio today, the city is buzzing. They love the pick. I don’t blame them. Jax finally has a GM with some damn balls.

My thoughts exactly. It’s great to see someone chime in instead of constantly praising our pick, like Shake was all over him. Disgusting.

Re: The Official 2025 Draft Day Thread!
He doesn’t wait for the ball to come into his body, he moves his hands to catch the ball at the last moment rather than doing it early. What he does is viewed as a very positive trait for receivers to have as it gives DBs less time to react. They rely on cues from the receiver quite a bit at the pro level.GoldenBudda wrote: ↑Fri Apr 25, 2025 4:13 pmWaiting for the ball to come into your body is definition of a body catcher. You know what? **** it, if it worked for Travis Hunter, let's go ... all WR draft. Cross train them at corner. Let's go Bowles. Let's see what your staff is made of.

He doesn’t wait for the ball to come into his body, he catches with his hands (ball isn’t hitting his chest/belly). He’s got very quick hands and can react later in the catch than Royals does. Egbuka’s hands and how he uses them that way are seen as a huge plus at the NFL level.GoldenBudda wrote: ↑Fri Apr 25, 2025 4:13 pm

DBs read WRs for cues on when the ball is arriving to help their timing in disrupting the catch. This is why so many of them never turn their heads to the ball until shortly before the catch. Less cues, smaller window for them to react.
Go read scouting reports on Egbuka maybe.
