Predicting the Atlanta Falcons to win the division this year. I'm going on record to say, if it's not the Bucs then it's the Panthers, definitely not the Falcons.

Penix is basically a rookie. Carolina didn’t really address their defense. NO has a Rattler/Shough QB combo.
If we don’t win the division it’s because we got wrecked with injuries.

Re: The Official 2025 Off-Season Thread
Fun fact of the day
Just imagine: NFC East - New York Giants, Philadelphia, Tampa Bay, Washington
Or
NFC South - Atlanta, New Orleans, St. Louis, Tampa Bay
2001/5/20: On this day in pro football history: With the new expansion team, the Houston Texans beginning play in 2002, the NFL now had 32 teams. The NFL has had the same division format since the AFL-NFL merger in 1970.
With the current alignment of 2 conferences and 3 divisions in each division, adding the 32nd team would leave 2 divisions with 6 teams. Realignment was long overdue.
The 32 NFL owners would be heading to Chicago later in the week for a 3-day meeting in Chicago. It was originally scheduled for 2 days but NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue changed it to 3 days because he wanted the realignment resolved. There they would be deciding on 1 of 7 different proposals. At least 1 team per division will leave their division and 1 team will shift from the AFC to the NFC.
Approval from 24 of 32 teams are needed for the proposal to pass. Tagliabue has four votes - the Tennessee Titans, Houston Texans, St. Louis Rams and Baltimore Ravens - because the teams are new or have recently relocated. He had indicated that he would use the 4 votes in the majority. Thus, if 20 owners vote in favor of an option, it would pass.
Of the 7 proposals, option 1 appeared to be the most likely:
AFC East - Buffalo, Miami, New England, New York Jets
AFC North - Baltimore, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Pittsburgh
AFC South - Houston, Indianapolis, Jacksonville, Tennessee
AFC West - Denver, Kansas City, Oakland, San Diego
NFC East - Dallas, New York Giants, Philadelphia, Washington
NFC North - Chicago, Detroit, Green Bay, Minnesota
NFC South - Atlanta, Carolina, New Orleans, Tampa Bay
NFC West - Arizona, San Francisco, Seattle, St. Louis
Option 2 had San Diego in the NFC West and Seattle in the AFC West.
Option 3 had Indianapolis in the AFC North and Baltimore in the AFC South.
Option 4 had Baltimore in the AFC South and Tennessee in the AFC North.
Option 5 had Baltimore in the AFC South and Houston in the AFC North.
Option 6 had several changes:
AFC East - Buffalo, Miami, New England, New York Jets
AFC North - Baltimore, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Pittsburgh
AFC South - Houston, Indianapolis, Jacksonville, Tennessee
AFC West - Denver, Kansas City, Oakland, Seattle
NFC East - Carolina, New York Giants, Philadelphia, Washington
NFC North - Chicago, Detroit, Green Bay, Minnesota
NFC South - Atlanta, New Orleans, St. Louis, Tampa Bay
NFC West - Arizona, Dallas, San Diego, San Francisco
Then lastly Option 7
AFC East - Buffalo, Miami, New England, New York Jets
AFC North - Baltimore, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Pittsburgh
AFC South - Houston, Indianapolis, Jacksonville, Tennessee
AFC West - Denver, Kansas City, Oakland, Seattle
NFC East - New York Giants, Philadelphia, Tampa Bay, Washington
NFC North - Chicago, Detroit, Green Bay, Minnesota
NFC South - Atlanta, Carolina, New Orleans, St. Louis
NFC West - Arizona, Dallas, San Diego, San Francisco
Seattle president Bob Whitsitt said, “Our fans helped build a new stadium, and want to reward them with the games they want to see. No teams generate as much interest among our fans as Oakland and Denver, so we’re naturally reluctant to change divisions.”
Tagliabue understood that there was going to be some owners and fans who would be unhappy with the moves. He said, “There is a lot of sentiment to keep the original Western teams that go back to the AFL. So that probably does indicate that Seattle is going to a different division.”

That would have been interesting to be in the NFC east but at the end of the day they were not going to break up historical rivalries.Phantom wrote: ↑Sun May 25, 2025 5:42 pm Fun fact of the day

I wanted Jarius Monroe last year as a free agent.

Weird but they're all grown men. Free to do them. Hey if it helps change the culture go for it, try anything at this point.

Re: The Official 2025 Off-Season Thread
So, ummmm....I deep dove the roster in the other thread.
On Baker's knee, I think this is one of the top five most talented rosters in franchise history. The balance of vets and pups is sublime. The depth is, well, deep almost everywhere. Obviously it's not a given, but how many young guys are primed to explode right now?
Goddamn, I hope Bowles proves me wrong about Bowles.

I don’t think Jarius did much reading/writing/arithmetic with the Tulane Green Wave.

I happened to be at that game when DT58 got those 7 sacks. Dave Krieg was the victim that day. His first step was just inhuman. Never seen anything like it since.
Got to meet him and Dan Saleamua a few years later. Was also living in KC when DT was killed in that stupid car accident years later. Whole town went into mourning.
Re: The Official 2025 Off-Season Thread
He was a monster on Tecmo Bowl too
Re: The Official 2025 Off-Season Thread
Best defensive player in the game next to LT. Many happy childhood afternoons were spent butt-blasting defenses with the Nigerian Nightmare and then wrecking offenses with DT. Good times.

Re: The Official 2025 Off-Season Thread
The most underrated football game in the 90s. I played all 3 and it was better than Madden and Tecmo Bowl in my honest opinion: Super Play Action Football. 1992. SNES
Unfortunately this was a one hit wonder based on 1991 season. All 28 NFL teams. Season playoffs and SB. Most College football teams (if you wanted to do a college season) All Bowl Games. and Highschool. If you played High school you had to create your team and colors so after you made your high school your season would be up against other standard teams like "Central"

Oh I think we're going to lay it on Penix. Poor guy isn't going to know what hit him. Almost feel sorry for him. Almost.
Falcons have a brutal opening schedule and we can plant a devastating seed of doubt early. Combine that with a rough start, this falcons era can be curbed before it begins.

Atlanta should make the playoffs but whether they take the division is dependent on how sensational Penix is. I think there is a good chance he is and in that case Baker will have to keep up. I also think Carolina may sneak in as a 7th seed so we have 3 representing NFC south

Definitely likely but like someone said before with their starting schedule, after that they may get hot later. It was really unbelievable that Cousins had an answer to everything we did.

Sure, there will be some growing pains. But look at guys like Jayden Daniels and Bo Nix. They had growing pains and still made the playoffs. Plus, like Nix and Daniels, Penix is another one of those older young QBs, he's 25. The curve has definitely been shortened these days. QBs are coming into the league with a lot more experience than in years past.Grahamburn wrote: ↑Mon Jun 02, 2025 11:05 amHe has 3 career starts.
