Because I was earlier to the party than the mainstream media?
Newsflash, I'm a Bucs fan, I'm supposed to be earlier to the party because I'm hyper focused on the Bucs.
I'm writing hype posts on Zyon and Dennis a year early because I liked what I saw. Heck, going back to the Arian days that holds. But I guess it's not valid until someone on ESPN is saying it too...

Yup, I completely agree..
CBS Sports recently put out a list of the 25 worst head coaching hires this century
Former Bucs head coach Greg Schiano made the cut.
"He may still hold respect at Rutgers as the school's all-time winningest head coach, but Schiano's hard-nosed style couldn't offset a major second-year slide in the NFL. Even the NFL's official website deemed him a 'poor fit' for the league ahead of his dismissal, citing an anonymous player who said playing for Schiano's Buccaneers culture was like 'being in Cuba.' OK then."
Re: 2025 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Offseason Thread
Schiano was an odd duck. Trying to treat grown ass men like kids was never going to work.Phantom wrote: ↑Fri Jul 11, 2025 6:37 pm Yup, I completely agree..

It doesnt matter how good you are at the x's and o's, if the team doesn’t respect you and tune you out, then you're doomed.
Re: 2025 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Offseason Thread
Curious on this, since some of you guys do have some connections. What/how did Schiano treat grown men like kids? Was it the insistence on getting back to fundamentals like tackling? I remember that was a sticking point of his from the early days. I also remember Bill Belichick saying he liked drafting from Rutgers because he knew Schiano would have them fundamentally sound.
From the outside looking in, this seemed like a Vic Fangio in Miami situation. Hard coaching on soft players netted a rebellion with one team, but a championship on another.
Re: 2025 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Offseason Thread
Going back to fundamentals is fine, most of the great coaches hammer that. Even our very own Monte Kiffin was a HUGE fundamentals guy and would routinely spend lots of time drilling them.__Chef__ wrote: ↑Sun Jul 13, 2025 5:21 pmCurious on this, since some of you guys do have some connections. It was the way he acted and treated his players. At different points there have been quite a few players come out and talk about the way he would talk/treat them was very college-like.
It was the reason many vets really didn't care much for him and probably why he often went after ex-Rutgers players(they were used to being treated that way).
There are some articles floating around I'm sure you can find if you do a quick search. But overall his type of coaching simply doesnt hit the mark with older guys.

2025 Bucs current roster + (T)J Watt = ?
"Not gonna happen" is the obvious, but what would this trade actually for for us in terms of being a contender?
Would it move the needle at all ?

Good gravy. Has it really been 4 years already?
anyway, I'm going to respond as if he meant TJ Watt. Simply, yeah, TJ is a game-changer. he requires a double-team. Put him out there with Vea (who also requires a double-team, right?) and Yaya or Reddick, and opposing OCs wouldn't get any sleep the week before playing TB.

Re: 2025 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Offseason Thread
An incredibly important factor that gets completely lost in the sauce every coaching cycle.
It's all about how you go about it. That "just do as I say" shit may work with kids who don't know any better, but your are talking to grown ass men who DO know better and HAVE played the game. So you better bring more than just your rank if your are going to reach them.__Chef__ wrote: ↑Sun Jul 13, 2025 5:21 pmCurious on this, since some of you guys do have some connections. That's one of the reasons I was such an Ariana fan, same with Bowles. They know how to talk to men. They know how to put on the tape, ask what they should be doing, then let the game talk.
Hell, being able to GET THROUGH to players is probably the single most important thing a HC can do. Without that, nothing else will matter and it will all fall apart.

Re: 2025 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Offseason Thread
When can the official Buc 2025 season thread lawfully be made? Yes in my opinion it's more important than the official 2025 NFL season thread. (always)

ESPN: NFL's Top-10 QBs for 2025:

Emphasis added by yours truly. So, at least we know that the list wasn't just complied by one or two people, or that it was based solely on votes alone, which is nice. Anyway, does the board agree, or no?
ESPN: NFL's Top-10 QBs for 2025:
https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/455 ... n-rankings
Spoiler alert: Baker is ranked 10th.With 2025 NFL training camps on the horizon, the league's true insiders made their voices heard. ESPN surveyed league executives, coaches and scouts to help us rank the top 10 players at 11 different positions, from quarterback to cornerback and all positions in between. This was the sixth edition of these rankings, and as usual, several players moved up or fell off last year's lists.
A reminder of the rankings process: Voters gave us their best 10 players at a position, then we compiled the results and ranked candidates based on number of top-10 votes, composite average and dozens of interviews, with research and film study help from ESPN NFL analyst Matt Bowen. In total, more than 70 voters submitted a ballot on at least one position, and in many cases all positions. Additional voting and follow-up calls with those surveyed helped us break any ties.
Each section includes quotes and nuggets from the voters on every ranked player -- even the honorable mentions. The objective was to identify the best players for 2025. This was not a five-year projection or a career achievement award. Who are the best players today?
We will roll out a position per day over 11 days. The schedule: running backs (July 7), defensive tackles (July 8), edge rushers (July 9), safeties (July 10), tight ends (July 11), interior offensive linemen (July 12), offensive tackles (July 13), quarterbacks (July 14), off-ball linebackers (July 15), wide receivers (July 16), cornerbacks (July 17).

I’m not sure if Bowles will work out for us. This does tell me the owners seem committed to keep things moving forward instead of trying to start over. I do see value in this approach. I may not think Bowles is the answer but I don’t see anyone better to replace him with.
I think our owners are giving them a last chance to show they can build a championship team. I’m hoping I’m wrong and everything works out. This offseason really showed how much his players respect him and I think that’s a big factor for success.
I’m thankful the Glazers did this to show the fans that they have confidence in this group. Only time will tell how much progress they expect year to year.

I am glad he is getting the league recognition he deserves. Vea has been very good for a long time, and I am glad as hell he's on our team.
I also by chance got to meet his family when I went to see the Bucs play in LA a few years ago, and they were also lovely people. Big personalities and super funny. I basically say next in the unofficial Vita Vea section and it was fantastic.

The one with Evans and Brooks is great as well. Wondering if they'll have one of Irving with Alstott since they had them in a little scene in the recent throwback jersey reveal. Bit of Evans/Brooks one as well as the Mayfield/Barber one were in that as well.
