Re: ***2025 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Official Season Thread***
Trench depth worries me tremendously. At the end of the day you're going to be thin somewhere with only 53 roster spots, you just have to hope that's not the unit that's tested that year. We're really leaning on "versatility" on the lines though.

A wonder as to why he was activated. He'll take up a roster spot.

I think it’s trending like you’re right on him possibly ending up on IR if they don’t like what they see at practice.

They haven't even seen him jog yet. There's no way they could possibly know what to expect or have a timeline. We've had a bunch of Bucs PR puffing in regards to Godwin, but they are running out of time.Grahamburn wrote: ↑Thu Aug 28, 2025 4:25 pm I think it’s trending like you’re right on him possibly ending up on IR if they don’t like what they see at practice.

Optimistic me says WE haven’t seen him jog or cut or run routes yet but they have. Not sure why they’ve been so coy with the inside only workouts?Bootz wrote: ↑Thu Aug 28, 2025 4:48 pmThey haven't even seen him jog yet. If he truly can’t even jog I don’t understand the roster spot at all.
Like, “ok Chris, you’re on the 53. Next step is passing your physical and practicing.”
Is Chris just like, “thanks, but sorry, I don’t know what to tell you? I can’t even run.”
He has to have shown something or what’s the point?

That’s why the contract was fucking nuts. The second he broke his leg, he became a one year incentive laden contract for me.

He did pass a physical, typically involves running/jogging on a treadmill. But teams can structure the physical and passing conditions.Bootz wrote: ↑Thu Aug 28, 2025 4:48 pmThey haven't even seen him jog yet. If this Kamara player doesnt play out I'd like to see Myles Cole get a tryout. Jax tried to make him from a OLB to a 4-3 DE.
We should look at him as a OLB.

Is pick the score being done this year?

I kinda would like to see Vea take on Atl's right tackle.

Ryan Jensen passed a physical with a torn ACL, MCL, PCL, meniscus, and broken leg. I take team physicals with a grain of salt and you should too.Pirate Life wrote: ↑Thu Aug 28, 2025 7:25 pmHe did pass a physical, typically involves running/jogging on a treadmill. What's the motive in this plot to expose him on the practice field?
We can put Godwin on IR without him practicing.

Motive is to see what you have on your hands. Licht keeps talking about Godwin being right where they want him to be yet he doesn't even know how damaged Godwin still is.

Or maybe he does and it's worse than they are letting on. Time will tell and they are running out of it.

Letting on? Again, why? And to what end?
And why is time running out?

Either you're playing dumb or it isn't an act.

I'm genuinely trying to understand your POV here.
They could easily put him in IR and being him back whenever. Why "fool the fans" with hope? What's the gain?
He's also here for three years, what time is running out?

Re: ***2025 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Official Season Thread***
So it's not an act. I'll explain in terms you (hopefully) can understand.
They put him on IR, they dont get to see him practice. Again, the Bucs reportedly haven't even seen him jog. This should be obvious to you, but as you've proven this isn't an act. They want to see what they have left in Godein. Can't do that if he's on IR or PUP. So if you activate him now, he can practice week 2 and you can make a decision then.
Now you make a valid point. They could've had him on IR/PUP because per Licht......
The or later is telling because he wouldn't have said that if he had an idea of when Godwin would be ready. He seems to think Wirfs will be back sooner. Earlier in the offseason week 1 was in play for Godwin. Now it's touch and go and unknown. The fact that you mention 3 years as the timeline should be eye opening to you. This injury isnt a 3 year injury. Sometimes you can't come back from things. And it unfortunately is trending in that direction.
If you still don't understand after this explanation, then do us all a favor and stop trying to pretend you're the smartest person in the room.

I’d be surprised if Godwin played more than two or three games this season.
Actually, I wouldn’t be surprised if he missed the whole season.

As far as Godwin is concerned, I have zero expectations of ever seeing the Chris Godwin we've known ever again on the field.

Hence the last sentence in my post and the use of 'typically'. As we don't know what went into the physical, can only go by what is generally part of them.Bootz wrote: ↑Thu Aug 28, 2025 8:43 pmRyan Jensen passed a physical with a torn ACL, MCL, PCL, meniscus, and broken leg. However, did stumble across a study that shows NFL players have a high chance of returning to playing for multiple years after needing surgery to repair ankle fractures after dislocations. 71% (22 out of 31 players from 2013-2018) returned to playing and had, on average, 3.5 seasons of play after injury/surgery.
While not the same position and not using his ankle in the same way as a WR, Dak Prescott's ankle dislocation also involved a compound fracture and he returned without much diminished ability even though his was worse.

The compound fracture was the easiest thing to repair there for Dak. Godwin tore his deltoid ligament, which is extremely rare and overall leads to real instability in the ankle/foot. Godwin also had a 2nd surgery, which wasn't planned and no details were provided.
Dak and Godwin's injuries both occured in October. But Dak was back healthy the following offseason. If this timeline sticks, Godwin won't be back for basically a full calendar year at the earliest. That in itself should tell you his injury was more serious and IMO career threatening. The Bucs simply aren't letting it be known yet.

You can see the truth on Godwin's face during his contract extension press conference. He didn't look like a guy happy to be getting a big contract and looking forward to the future. He looks like he's at his own (career)funeral.

That 2nd surgery reportedly happened in the spring. This pic is after that surgery.
