NCAA football 2025
Re: NCAA football 2025
Summary of the weekend: Initially, I found the football games boring, but I was shocked by FSU's win over Alabama
The weekend concluded with great game between Notre Dame and Miami, Carson Beck play extremely well

Next week, there are some exciting games to watch.
Michigan vs. Oklahoma

1. A slate of great games has a way of flushing negative feelings re: NIL, CFBP expansion, transfer portal.
Frankly, those were a distant memory around the time Corso made his final picks. (Ngl I thought he died like 2 years ago.)
CFB is pseudo-professional now, but the vibe is different from the NFL. The students, the preshows, the marching bands, the history. It continues to feel like CFB to me, despite some of the players making $$$. Gotta keep it that way.
2. Burying Arch Manning was fun. Hype gets old fast. He still seems like a fine lad and took the loss in stride tho. Not his fault his last name is Manning.
He’s also better than that showing. Texas gameplanned poorly. New OSU DC Matt Patricia emerged from the offseason as grotesque as ever. Looking like Howard Hughes from The Aviator theatre scene (IYKYK). With a meticulous defensive scheme only a true film junkie could appreciate.
Arch plays cupcakes the next month. expect a rebound and return to (expected) form.
3. How great is having meaningful games week 1?
Not only ranked teams facing off, but top ranked teams. Guaranteed 40% of the top 10 losing. Thats huge. Real curious how the committee navigates these early season losses.
The next step in CFB scheduling involves the elimination of chuffa. No East Iowa State vs Clemson. No FSU vs Grambling. Every week can and should feel meaningful.
4. Any team specific takeaways/concerns or is it too early?

Re: NCAA football 2025
Yeah we have to wait another week before Texas A&M. At least it's at home and Carr can start getting comfortable now that the first game jitters are done.
Re: NCAA football 2025
I think three of the four losers will definitely stay in the playoff race for quite a bit… I’m not so sure about AlabamaSnake wrote: ↑Mon Sep 01, 2025 2:34 am

I think what was great about the three big matchups was that all The teams ended up with under 350 yards. I know defense is always ahead of offense early on, but it was cool to watch such low scoring tight games.
Id have
1. OSU
2. PSU
3. LSU
4. Miami
5. Georgia
Though i still think PSU is the best team
It’s Ok, i’m just gonna do some ketamine and fuck around with the government a little … see ya

Re: NCAA football 2025
That would be too far imo.
The game was tight overall. Miami played a cleaner game, had momentum most of the game, and Notre Dame still had a chance to win it/tie it at the end.
There’s some coaching related issues that need cleaned up. But the INT was a fluke, the fumble was weird (I think…too many games were watched yesterday). And it was still real close in an away game against a top 10 team.

Ya, I would keep both Texas and Notre Dame in the top 10. Opening week losses against top ranked teams on the road and they kept it within a score. Both had chances late.Snake wrote: ↑Mon Sep 01, 2025 9:30 am That would be too far imo.

I hate when teams get punished badly for scheduling really good out of conference games

Re: NCAA football 2025
I'd put Notre Dame in the 8-9 area with Clemson, both interchangeable there - although in the below list, they mysteriously come second:
1 - Ohio State
2 - Penn State (agree with Zarni they're the true 1)
3 - LSU
4 - Georgia
5 - Texas
6 - Miami
7 - Oregon
8 - Clemson
9 - Notre Dame

I bet Jordon can quantify it. Hell, she's probably trying to trademark it.
Re: NCAA football 2025
Think Jordan Hudson is banned from attending the NC game because of distract I could be wrong.

Re: NCAA football 2025
I used to love watching TCU back in their speed option days. When I first moved down here in 02, I would go to every TCU game. (Mostly 12 formation, sometimes i-form or wishbone) They quit running that offense in about 07.

Someone over at Yahoo went nutso. OSU isn't #1? FSU is #3? PSU isn't in the top 10?
I'm putting this up so we can all laugh at it in a few weeks.

They are now ranked #21, which is the lowest ranking they have had in the past 12 years, I believe.Central_Buc wrote: ↑Tue Sep 02, 2025 6:37 am The funniest shit about this weekend is Alabama fans losing their shit on YouTube and social media.

Re: NCAA football 2025
Oh boy!
Bryce Underwood has been compared to former No. 1 overall recruit and national champion quarterback Trevor Lawrence by Oklahoma's head coach Brent Venables, citing Underwood's quickness, decisiveness, accuracy, poise, toughness, and consistency, as well as his maturity, work ethic, and leadership ability. Other comparisons include Josh Allen for his physique and arm talent, and a combination of Patrick Mahomes, Tom Brady, and Randall Cunningham by a media personality.
Re: NCAA football 2025
Standard move. Hype him as much as possible. if you win, it makes your accomplishment look better.
If you lose, well, you “lost to the next Trevor Lawrence.”

Re: NCAA football 2025
Underwood was crisp last week in his first start, but Venables is being hyperbolic to the extreme.Phantom wrote: ↑Wed Sep 03, 2025 4:59 pm Oh boy!

I've done this before myself, but talk about laying it on thick.
