Stop the run, Arthur Smith loves to run the ball . It will be interesting to see if he throws the ball like the Cowboys did .

The Falcons looked so bad against the Eagles that this almost seems too good to be true. That's a rebuilding team, whether they want to admit it or not.

Re: Bucs vs Falcons discussions
Falcons LG was the clear weak point vs the Eagles. Like it was really really bad. I fully expect to expose that and pretty much everything else the Falcons are lacking. It really shouldn't be close.
Hope to see good execution and team building.

I remember Keyshawn in the '02 videos playing the Bengals and talking about being USC and playing San Jose State and putting a cleat on their necks. That's how this game SHOULD go. Cleat on the neck.
The one thing that worries me is how soft our coverage was last week, and how good Ridley can be. But last week, we had to worry about 2-3 targets (with Gallup going out), not just one.

Sean Murphy-Bunting will undergo an MRI on his dislocated right elbow today. The hope is that he will miss only 3-4 weeks but there’s no prognosis yet. Will talk to coach Bruce Arians at 12:30 pm
Re: Bucs vs Falcons discussions
Can we break any big runs against Atl?
Re: Bucs vs Falcons discussions
Does Kyle Pitts breakout in week 2?
Re: Bucs vs Falcons discussions
The Eagles - not known as a great rushing team - went 31-173 against the Falcons last week. Hurts was a chunk of that. But yes, I'd say this is a matchup where we'll get the ol' YPC healthy. Maybe no 99 yard scampers, but I see 5+ ten yards or better runs happening in this game.
Depends on how much emphasis we put on him. But I feel like it's quite possible. We gave up some big totals to tight ends last year. The Falcons have two good ones. One of them is likely to eat. If only in garbage time.

Re: Bucs vs Falcons discussions
Any given Sunday. Let's hope the Bucs aren't assuming we'll win this game. I'm hoping they treat this like the Falcons are Super Bowl contenders, cut out the stupid penalties and the turnovers, and avoid needing to make a last desperate drive to win the game as the network suits jump for joy. In short, I'm hoping behind the scenes they're treating last week's win like it's a loss and they need revenge.
What we think does not matter of course so if you're on the blowout bandwagon by all means toot toot, y'all.

4 things to remember.LUGZ wrote: ↑Tue Sep 14, 2021 8:48 am Given how putrid the Falcons looked against the Eagles, it will be kind of damning if they look competitive vs us.
This is a game we should completely dominate from start to finish. No excuses.
The defense needs to play angry and show that last week was an aberration. I don't care that SMB is hurt honestly. The Falcons have two threats on offense, and if we can't stop two threats then I'm not sure what this defense is capable of this year.
This should be like a 40+ to 10 game or something.
1 - It's the NFL and the saying, Any Given Sunday, is real.
2 - It was only Week 1. No one should be drawing any solid conclusions yet.

Hope we can abuse some of those 1st rounders on their o-line too. Vea splitting Gossett and Hennessy with the others blowing up the rest.

Re: Bucs vs Falcons discussions
We have to be better up front on defense. I fear we won't have an answer for Pitts. He's bigger and faster than any safety we have. CD3 needs to shadow Ridley. I'm not worried about their run game against our run D.
On the otherside, that Falcons defense is rebuilding. Grady Jarrett and Dion Lewis are great but overall it's not a good defense.

Re: Bucs vs Falcons discussions
Don’t be looking ahead to the LA matchup.
Lots of kinks to work out after the first game. Hopefully that is their focus and they can come out and crush a vastly inferior team.

Re: Bucs vs Falcons discussions
Can we not give Ryan 70% passing
Re: Bucs vs Falcons discussions
Should dominate, but as per the last ten years I'm always concerned about getting shredded against the pass.
Re: Bucs vs Falcons discussions
Not worried about Pitts specifically. Our Corners are built to cover him. They struggle against shifty swifty WR's.King Bootz wrote: ↑Tue Sep 14, 2021 10:28 am We have to be better up front on defense. I fear we won't have an answer for Pitts. You hit it right on the head. Never take what you deem to be an inferior opponent likely or you might be in for a rude awakening.Buc2 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 14, 2021 9:01 am4 things to remember.LUGZ wrote: ↑Tue Sep 14, 2021 8:48 am Given how putrid the Falcons looked against the Eagles, it will be kind of damning if they look competitive vs us.

I remember this Bucs team went to Atlanta last year with the mentality that they would walk over the Falcons. They were coming off a three game homestand that included heartbreaking losses to the Rams and the Chiefs and a forgettable win over the Vikings. They come into Atlanta and were down 17-0 at the half. Not sure what was said in the locker room but they came out with fires lit under their asses and won 31-24. That was the turning point for the season and they would not lose again.

Little news from BA today.
Rojo is still the starting RB.
Rojo is still the starting RB.
A bit more concerning, no real timetable on SMB.Arians said Tuesday, "Rojo was ready. We started throwing the ball a bunch more. But he's starting this week. He's ready to roll."
He was put on I.R and has to be there a minimum of 3 weeks."Right now, it could be anywhere from four [weeks] until the end of the season. We're still looking at some MRI stuff and a second opinion on what has to be done if anything," Arians said.
Re: Bucs vs Falcons discussions
It's a division game so ti might be closer than some think due to familiarity.
But the Falcons Oline is poor and their Defensive front 7 is soft as well. Secondary can't match up to our weapons either (most can't).
The Bucs should dominate the LOS on both sides of the ball which usually results in easy execution.

Davis is an outstanding corner.
Dean will probably never be an outstanding corner, but the league is filled with worse guys starting games for good teams.
Cockrell is a rock-solid third corner who has risen to every challenge in Tampa.
And Dee Delaney had an outstanding camp/preseason. He'd already be getting reps most places.
I also have modest optimism about Herb Miller, if he gets on the field.
If our pass rush can get home more effectively than they did against Dallas (and their excellent tackles), the corners will be fine.
If they can't, we're going to get picked apart by any decent passing attack with or without SMB.

Re: Bucs vs Falcons discussions
Yeah, I'm not sure why some are panicking over this. While it sucks losing a starter...SMB is not a good starter. Before his injury, he was playing dreadful against Dallas(Allowed 3 recs for 41 yards and a TD). Last year...his stats were pretty ugly(77% completion percentage against, about 950 yards, and 6 TDs. Allowed a 121.3 QB Rating). It weakens our secondary because the guys below him aren't good either...but it's not an injury that will change our season.MJW wrote: ↑Wed Sep 15, 2021 12:15 amI must be on the short list of Bucs fans not panicking about this.

He was used mostly as a RB in week 1 vs Philly.Jason Bourne wrote: ↑Wed Sep 15, 2021 2:14 am Cordarelle Patterson …

He actually ran pretty well and seemed to be the primary backup to Mike Davis for Atlanta.
But a versatile chess piece for that offense.
That Philly - Atlanta game was closer than the score indicated. Not that either team looked all that great. But it was 15-6 with less than 20min left in the game.
Lots of undisciplined pre-snap penalties for both teams and all around sloppy play made it an ugly game to watch.
Re: Bucs vs Falcons discussions
The same exact coaching staff the Bucs had in 2019 when Winston led us to a 7-9 record is still in place for what should be a 10 game win streak this Sunday.

Re: Bucs vs Falcons discussions
Atlanta played like pure trash in all facets. I'm not worried about Patterson anymore. He apparently put on 15-20 pounds to play RB and looks much slower and less agile.
That was not a close game against Philly. When Atlanta scored their 2nd FG very early in the 2nd Quarter, that was the last time their offense passed the 50 yard line. That was the last time they sustained a drive more than 6 plays. That was the last time they scored. From that point they convert 1 3rd down in 11 attempts. To put it in perspective, they had 29 plays over their 1st 2 drives. Over their last 10, they had 37 plays.

Long-time Buccaneers fans worry about every game. Short-time Buccaneers fans do not know that heartbreak feeling that was put on repeat for far too long.
I worry about every game. Some just have more realistic worry and some are just old Buccaneers fan worry.
